Sen. John Cornyn To Eric Holder: Get The HeckOutta Here!

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) practically eviscerated Attorney General Holder during testimony at a Senate hearing this morning. Showing the frustration of many in the House and Senate, he called on Eric Holder to resign after going through a litany of Holder's offenses.
"You won't cooperate with legitimate congressional investigation. You won't answer my questions about gun walking in Texas. You won't take responsibility for the failures of your inner circle, and you won't acknowledge what your top aides knowingly misled Congress about over 8 months and won't hold anyone accountable. So Mr. Attorney General I'm afraid we have come to an impasse. The Leaking of classified information represents a major threat to our national security and your office faces a clear conflict of interest to be willing to appoint a special counsel. You won’t support a truly investigation and you won’t take the threat seriously.

“You won’t hold anyone, including yourself, accountable. Your department blocks states from implementing attempts to combat voter fraud. In short, you violated the public trust, in my view. By failing and refusing to perform the duties of your office, so you leave me no alternative but to join those who call upon you to resign your office.
Americans deserve an Attorney General that will be honest with them; they deserve an Attorney General who will uphold the basic standards of political independence and accountability. You’ve proven time and time again, sadly, that you’re unwilling to do so.”

Cornyn is the fourth Senator to call for Holder's resignation, but the first to do it to his face. Sens. Jim DeMint, Johnny Isakson and James Inhofe have all called for the AG to just get the hell out.

Holder of course answered that he will not resign and that he is the subject of a political witch hunt.

With all due respect, senator, there’s so much that’s factually wrong with the premises that you started your statement with,” said Holder. “It’s almost breathtaking in its inaccuracy.”

Holder pointed to his repeated efforts to try and meet on the issue of Fast and Furious with Republicans, whom he said have not actively responded to the offers.

Holder said the unresponsiveness from House Republicans leads him to believe that they’re playing political games and not actually addressing the issues at hand. He accused the GOP of promoting governing tactics that make the government unpopular in the public eye.
When the hearing went into recess, Senator Cornyn appeared on Fox News to explain his call for Holder's resignation.  See the video below

I'm impressed with the news anchor. She asks pointed questions and does not seem the least bit overwhelmed. She's good.
