Two New Studies Warn Global Warming Will Cause Global Cooling (Not A Joke)

Okay according to two new studies this is how the global warming enthusiasts say it's going to work. Global warming is going to move the gulf stream (which circulates warm and across the Earth and makes cold water sink).. They say warming is going to mess up the gulf stream and other ocean circulation systems and cause the Northern Hemisphere to get cold. Simplified, their claim is that global warming is going to make things cold (you cant make this up).

AS reported in the Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald:
The research, by separate teams of scientists, bolsters predictions of disruptions to global ocean currents - such as the Gulf Stream - that transfer tropical warmth from the equator to northern latitudes, as well as a larger conveyor system that cycles colder water into the ocean's depths. Both systems help ensure relatively mild conditions in parts of Northern Europe that would otherwise be much colder.

The papers offer insight into how rapidly melting Arctic ice could slow or even temporarily halt the ocean's normal circulation, with possible effects ranging from plunging temperatures in northern latitudes to centuries-long droughts in south-east Asia. A fictional version of this scenario was depicted in the 2004 disaster film Day after Tomorrow, although most scientists believe the movie's vision of ice sheets over New York and Europe are highly unlikely.

One study, by three scientists from Germany's Alfred Wegener Institute, uses computers to model how Greenland's rapid thawing could affect the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation, the system that pushes cold, dense saltwater into the deep ocean and helps transport warm water northward, helping to warm Europe's climate.
Well then...thank God the the ice caps are growing. A July 2015 article in the U.K. Telegraph called "How Arctic ice has made fools of all those poor warmists" reported:
In recent years there has been more polar ice in the world than at any time since satellite records began in 1979. In the very year they had forecast that the Arctic would be “ice free”, its thickness increased by a third. Polar bear numbers are rising, not falling. Temperatures in Greenland have shown no increase for decades
Forbes Magazine agrees:
Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979. Since the end of 2012, moreover, total polar ice extent has largely remained above the post-1979 average. The updated data contradict one of the most frequently asserted global warming claims – that global warming is causing the polar ice caps to recede.

The timing of the 1979 NASA satellite instrument launch could not have been better for global warming alarmists. The late 1970s marked the end of a 30-year cooling trend. As a result, the polar ice caps were quite likely more extensive than they had been since at least the 1920s. Nevertheless, this abnormally extensive 1979 polar ice extent would appear to be the “normal” baseline when comparing post-1979 polar ice extent.
The Arctic Ice had a period of melting but as reported in Nature Geoscience:
However, we observe 33% and 25% more ice in autumn 2013 and 2014, respectively, relative to the 2010–2012 seasonal mean, which offset earlier losses. This increase was caused by the retention of thick sea ice northwest of Greenland during 2013 which, in turn, was associated with a 5% drop in the number of days on which melting occurred—conditions more typical of the late 1990s. In contrast, springtime Arctic sea ice volume has remained stable.

Whether or not the hypothesis about global warming will screw up the Earth's watery currents is a moot point...because before that can happen the arctic has to melt...and it's not melting.
A second paper, by a team of Texas scientists, sheds new light on how the Earth's climate responded during a similar thaw from the planet's geological past. About 12,000 years ago, rising temperatures at the end of the last ice age released huge volumes of cold freshwater, disrupting the ocean's circulation systems and sending parts of the Northern Hemisphere back in to the freezer. Scientists refer to the era as the Younger Dryas period.
But what caused the thaw, there were no gas guzzlers back then, and approximately 12,750 years ago before big cars and coal plants, and 750 years before that thaw CO2 levels were higher than today. So if that melt was caused by greenhouse gases wouldn't it have happen seven centuries earlier?

Here's the good news these global warming theorists won't mention. The earth hasn't warmed in 18 and 3/4 years.

That's right, the satellite monthly global mean surface temperature shows no global warming for 18 years 8 months since January 1997, that's the year South Park debuted, Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" was atop the Billboard singles list,  Star Wars Special Edition was atop the movie box office and Hillary Clinton was trolling around the White House.

So this is nothing but another global warming scare tactic, as they see the polar ice caps growing they need an excuse and the best thing they can come up with is their standard---it's all the fault of global warming.

Obama's Lying About The Alaskan Glaciers They've Been Melting For Three Centuries

Once again this president is lying to promote his global re-distribution of income policy also known as climate change.  Yesterday he visited the glaciers in Alaska (having been there...they are beautiful!).  He claimed that global warming was melting the glaciers---he is lying.  They've been melting since before the American Revolution. The good news is that the Arctic ice caps are growing:
- President Barack Obama walked down a winding wooded path, past a small brown post marked "1926" and a glacial stream trickling over gravel that eons of ice have scraped off mountain peaks.

He reached another post reading "1951", a marker for the edge of Alaska's Exit Glacier that year, and gazed up toward where the rock-rutted ice mass has since receded, a quarter mile away.

"This is as good a signpost of what we're dealing with on climate change as just about anything," Obama told reporters near the base of the glacier.
Glacial melting is nothing new, they have been receding before this country had a president.  Lets go back in history...take a look at this news article from 1952 which says the glaciers in Alaska had already lost half their size:

OK I hear you--1952 isn't early enough, how about 1923?

You want it even earlier, take a look at the map of Glacier Bay Alaska.  It shows where the glaciers are today vs. where they were up to at various points back to just before the American Revolution.  Unless Gen. Washington let the revolutionary army in SUVs there was no problem with greenhouse gasses back then.  In fact if you look at the map most of the melting took place before the 20th century.  Does Barack Obama really believe Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and melted the glaciers?

Note: the source of the three pictures above is Steven Goddard's Real Science Blog

Lets take a look at what's been happening since Obama was elected.  Check that, let's take a look at what's been happening since Bill Clinton was president. To be honest NOTHING.

That's right, the satellite monthly global mean surface temperature  shows no global warming for 18 years 7 months since January 1997 the last time Hillary Clinton was trolling around the White House. Note that yes there was warming before Jan. 97, and thanks to the El Nino there may be warming in the near future (at least until the La Niña starts or the lack of sunspot activity throws us into a mini ice age as some scientists are predicting).

Those claims of the hottest temperatures on record are "sort of"  true also. Firstly they are talking warmest by a hundredth of a degree. Secondly it uses land based temperature readings rather than satellite data. Climate scientists actually preferred the satellite data as being more accurate until it started disproving their global warming hypothesis.

I hate to upset the president but the truth is the ice caps are growing.
Temperatures in Greenland have shown no increase for decades.
When the Telegraph talks about more polar ice since 1979, it is really talking about both poles combined as the Antarctic ice cap has been growing more substantially over that period.

In other words if the ice cap could talk it would say, "Baby I'm Back!"   It seems as if the Ice Cap size ebbs and flows for natural reasons and has nothing to do with CO2 in the air. That's why as the carbon in the atmosphere as been growing in the last century we've seen the ice grow, recede, and grow again.

In fact the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is at its highest level in almost13,000 years. Approximately 12,750 years ago before big cars and coal plants CO2 levels were higher than today. And during some past ice ages levels were up to 20x today's levels--ice ages, that's a lot of polar ice that didn't melt.

Obama talked about severe storms yesterday...another lie. No Increase In Hurricanes: A study published in the July 2012 in the journal of the American Meteorological Society concluded unequivocally there is no trend of stronger or more frequent storms, asserting:
We have identified considerable inter-annual variability in the frequency of global hurricane landfalls, but within the resolution of the available data, our evidence does not support the presence of significant long-period global or individual basin linear trends for minor, major, or total hurricanes within the period(s) covered by the available quality data.
Perhaps it's because he thinks news doesn't travel well from Alaska, but Barack Obama is lying about glacier shrinkage, about the ice caps, and about an increase in storms during his first trip to Alaska.

EPA Head Gina McCarthy is Simply NOT NORMAL!

Yesterday the White House held the "White House Public Health and Climate Change Summit" to explain why man made climate change puts public health at risk and that more needs to be done to mitigate that threat. Of course first they have to prove their hypothesis that there is man made climate change. According to EPA chief Gina McCarthy anybody who disagrees or is skeptical of the climate change hypothesis is not a normal human being. Something at least in the case of this reporter, my wife agrees with whole-hardheartedly (but that's for a different day).

According to The Daily Caller, McCarthy addressed a group of doctors, health professionals, and others about why the EPA feels climate change is a public health issue.
"I am doing that not to push back on climate deniers," McCarthy said, reports The Daily Caller, alluding to the EPA's practice of releasing reports to inform the public about climate change. "You can have fun doing that if you want, but I've batted my head against the wall too many times and if the science already hasn't changed their mind it never will.
"But in any democracy, it's not them that carries the day. It is normal human beings that haven't put their stake into politics above science. It's normal human beings that want us to do the right thing, and we will if you help us."
I vehemently object to the term deniers which usually is used to refer to people who say the Holocaust never happened (which has real proof, pictures, survivors, etc.) while the man-made climate change has not been proven except in the flawed computer models of those trying to force feed the world with their plan for worldwide income redistribution.

However if McCarthy is correct, as a climate change skeptic (the preferred term), I am simply not normal. As I indicated earlier based on my sense of humor and the fact that I spend six days a week writing about news and commentaries from a conservative perspective which is outside the mainstream, well at least about me, she is probably correct. But it has nothing to do with climate change.

You see based on the satellite data which the early climate change theorists insisted would be the more accurate data, the Earth hasn't warmed in eighteen and a half years:

Think about that for a moment, the last time the Earth warmed, Bill Clinton was the POTUS, investors were raving at the incredibly high DJIA as it broke 6,000 (today it's around 18,000), the Mets sucked (ok that hasn't changed), Neil O'Donnell led the NY Jets to a 1-15 season and most of the students graduating high school this week were either being conceived or still in their mothers' uterus.

Ironically, the global warming establishment has simultaneously tried to deny a ‘pause’ while at the same time making up endless excuses for the ‘pause’. See: It’s Official – There are now 66 excuses for Temp ‘pause’ – Updated list of 66 excuses for the 18-26 year ‘pause’ in global warming at Climate Depot

Not only is the temperatures stable, the ice caps are not melting:
In late 2012, however, polar ice dramatically rebounded and quickly surpassed the post-1979 average. Ever since, the polar ice caps have been at a greater average extent than the post-1979 mean. Now, in May 2015, the updated NASA data show polar sea ice is approximately 5 percent above the post-1979 average.
And many scientists believe we are approaching a mini-ice age. For example Vencore Inc. which has worked closely with a number of government agencies on weather-related projects, including NASA, NOAA, Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Command, Naval Postgraduate School and the Intelligence Community, is now suggesting that the extreme lack of sunspot activity may be an indication of a major cooling period for the Earth.
It is pretty well understood that solar activity has a direct impact on temperatures at very high altitudes in a part of the Earth’s atmosphere called the thermosphere. This is the biggest layer of the Earth’s atmosphere which lies directly above the mesosphere and below the exosphere. Thermospheric temperatures increase with altitude due to absorption of highly energetic solar radiation and are highly dependent on solar activity. Finally, if history is a guide, it is safe to say that weak solar activity for a prolonged period of time can have a cooling impact on global temperatures in the troposphere which is the bottom-most layer of Earth’s atmosphere - and where we all live.
So in the end I admit, there are things about me that aren't normal, like my love for oreo cookie ice cream, or the fact that I am Jewish and never went to medical or law school.  But unlike Gina McCarthy the EPA administrator, I do not declare the end of discussion when the man made climate change hypothesis has so much scientific evidence weighing against it...I  would suggest that it is Ms. McCarthy who has issues with normalcy.

Climate Depot's Marc Morano was on Neal Cavuto's Fox News program on Wednesday and discussed Gina McCarthy's "not normal" statement. You can watch the appearance on the video below:

President Obama Wasn't Being Truthful....NASA Says Polar Ice ISN'T Shrinking

A lot of things happened in 1979, Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant almost sent parts of Pennsylvania to China, Iran broke in to the US Embassy in Tehran and took 90 hostages, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, Sadat and Begin signed a peace deal, the NY Mets sucked winning only 66 games, and....oh and NASA satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps.

When speaking at Coast Guard academy on Wednesday President Obama talked about NASA and polar ice:
Our scientists at NASA just reported that some of the sea ice around Antarctica is breaking up even faster than expected. The world’s glaciers are melting, pouring new water into the ocean.
The President was trying to deceive the American people:

James Taylor writes in Forbes:
Updated NASA satellite data show the polar ice caps remained at approximately their 1979 extent until the middle of the last decade. Beginning in 2005, however, polar ice modestly receded for several years. By 2012, polar sea ice had receded by approximately 10 percent from 1979 measurements. (Total polar ice area – factoring in both sea and land ice – had receded by much less than 10 percent, but alarmists focused on the sea ice loss as “proof” of a global warming crisis.)
But there is bad news for the Al Gore set:
In late 2012, however, polar ice dramatically rebounded and quickly surpassed the post-1979 average. Ever since, the polar ice caps have been at a greater average extent than the post-1979 mean. Now, in May 2015, the updated NASA data show polar sea ice is approximately 5 percent above the post-1979 average.
Despite the fact that Polar Ice has been growing since 2012, the climate alarmists are still screaming that the sky is falling.
Climate change is melting more than just the polar ice caps
2020: Antarctic ice shelf could collapse
An Arctic ice cap’s shockingly rapid slide into the sea
New satellite maps show polar ice caps melting at ‘unprecedented rate’
Sadly all that these warnings are doing is giving false hope to people in Ohio that the value of their homes are going up because the ice caps are melting the east coast will flood and they will soon have waterfront property.

According to Taylor the only place were one can find out that the Ice Caps aren't going away are conservative websites
The “mainstream” media is alternating between maintaining radio silence on the extended run of above-average polar ice and falsely asserting the polar ice caps are receding at an alarming rate.
Beyond that there is President Obama who looks at global warming as an excuse to transfer wealth from the imperialistic nations who "have" to the subjugated nations who "have not."

But mother nature is not cooperating temperatures haven't risen in almost 18 and half years, and some scientists are predicting that the Earth is approaching an Ice Age. Some of those scientists predicting a colds work with some of the organizations who are pushing the climate change hypothesis the hardest such as NASA, the NOAA, the British Met office amongst others, and are saying temperature changes follow along with sunspot activity. The earth gets warmer as there are more sunspots, and we have begun a very low sunspot period which looks like it will match the low sunset period which brought us the "Little Ice Age" in the late 17th and 18th centuries.

US Govt. Weather Consultant Predicts Low Sunspot Activity Will Bring Extended Global Freeze

Vencore Inc. has worked closely with a number of government agencies on weather-related projects, including NASA, NOAA, Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Command, Naval Postgraduate School and the Intelligence Community. It is now suggesting that the extreme lack of sunspot activity may be an indication of a major cooling period for the Earth.
Not since cycle 14 peaked in February 1906 has there been a solar cycle with fewer sunspots. We are currently more than six years into Solar Cycle 24 and the current nearly blank sun may signal the end of the solar maximum phase. Solar cycle 24 began after an unusually deep solar minimum that lasted from 2007 to 2009 which included more spotless days on the sun compared to any minimum in almost a century.
Its not just the fewer number of sunspots...its the pattern of their peaks:
The smoothed sunspot number (see above) for solar cycle 24 reached a peak of 81.9 in April 2014 and it is looking increasingly likely that this spike will be considered to be the solar maximum for this cycle. This second peak in the cycle surpassed the level of an earlier peak that reached 66.9 in February 2012. Many solar cycles are double peaked; however, this is the first one in which the second peak in sunspot number was larger than the first peak. Going back to 1755, there have been only a few solar cycles in the previous 23 that have had a lower number of sunspots during its maximum phase.
Now that doesn't mean it's definitely staying that way..but chances are it will. And here is where it gets interesting:
In 2012 NASA predicted something similar as did the British Met office:
We are now at what should be the peak of what scientists call ‘Cycle 24’ – which is why last week’s solar storm resulted in sightings of the aurora borealis further south than usual. But sunspot numbers are running at less than half those seen during cycle peaks in the 20th Century.

Analysis by experts at NASA and the University of Arizona – derived from magnetic-field measurements 120,000 miles beneath the sun’s surface – suggest that Cycle 25, whose peak is due in 2022, will be a great deal weaker still. According to a paper issued last week by the Met Office, there is a 92 per cent chance that both Cycle 25 and those taking place in the following decades will be as weak as, or weaker than, the ‘Dalton minimum’ of 1790 to 1830.
Vencore's predictions are also substantiated by a paper written by  German meteorologists made in 2013 , who used sunspot activity to predict we are heading for a "Mini Ice Age."
Talking to German media the scientist who first made his prediction in 2005 said that after studying sunspots and their relationship with climate change on Earth, we are now on an "unavoidable advance towards a deep temperature drop."Building on observations made by English astronomer Walter Maunder, Dr Abdussamatov, said he had found that the Earth cools and warms in a 200-year cycles.

The last big freeze known as the Little Ice Age was between 1650 and 1850 which he said coincided with Maunder’s findings that there had been no sunspots between 1645 and 1715.

Writing in his blog, Abdussamatov said: "The last global decrease of temperature (the most cold phase of the Little Ice Age) was observed not only in Europe, North America and Greenland, but also in any other part of the world during the Maunder minimum of sunspot activity and of the total solar irradiance in 1645–1715 years.
There are other examples of scientists pointing at the low level of sunspot activity and predicting cold times. And we know that warming leveled off almost 18 and a half years ago:

So if there are scientists involved with some of the organizations who are pushing the climate change hypothesis the hardest such as  NASA, the NOAA, the British Met office and others, are talking about the lack of sunspots and a global freeze why are we hearing nonsense about a consensus of scientists supporting their theory? Heck there isn't even a consensus in their own organizations.

Why aren't the news media reporting the valid science which opposes the climate change theory?  Is it because they are afraid that their grant dollars will dry up?  What ever the reason we are not being told the full story about what is happening to our climate, but we are being asked to destroy the economy based on the half-truths.

Readers Pick The Top 50 Stories of 2014 #50-41

#50-41

I would like to thank the readers for hanging with "The Lid" for another year.  This has been the largest traffic year in The Lid's history with a little over 1.9 million page views and a little over 1.2 million individual visits. And that doesn't count the people who subscribe to the site via Facebook and the people who read the site daily via RSS feed reader.

As it is our tradition, the last five days of the year we post which stories you enjoyed the most, based on total traffic the top fifty posts of the year.  Today we present #41-50....if you click on the title you can read the entire post:

50. Laura Rozen is Distributing Document Typed/Edited By Al Jazeera As Kerry's Cease Fire Proposal: Laura Rozen a veteran Middle East Reporter with an anti-Israel slant has hit a new low. Now a reporter at al-Monitor Rozen has been spending much of her Sunday defending the State Department against Israeli claims the proposed 7-day Kerry cease-fire was so bad it could have been written by Hamas. Rozen has been arguing on Twitter that the Israelis are lying about Kerry's proposal. She specifically bases her accusations on a copy of a cease-fire plan that she was given. The document she is referring to was typed and edited by employees of al-Jazeera.

49. Yom HaShoah Visions Of Horror! When Eisenhower, Bradley and Patton Liberated Ohrdruf Concentration Camp:  On the morning of April 12th, 1945 General Eisenhower met Generals Bradley and Patton at Ohrdruf Concentration Camp. Afterwards Eisenhower also ordered every American soldier in the area who was not on the front lines to visit Ohrdruf and Buchenwald. He wanted them to see for themselves what they were fighting against. On Yom HaShoah their words are much more moving then anything I could say...

48. SCANDAL! Climate Scientists Suppressed Research Which Disagreed With Warming Theory: Global warming proponents are quick to accuse those who are skeptical of their theory as ignoring a scientific consensus. According to a front page story in the UK Times, that supposed consensus may have been built in part by suppressing research which disagrees with their global fear mongering. The article tells the story of research completed by five climate experts rejected by one of the world's top academic journals after a reviewer privately complained that the study was “harmful” to the promotion of climate change theory.

47. President Obama's Culpability For Tuesday's Synagogue Attack: On Wednesday morning in Jerusalem life began to return to some semblance of normalcy. Worshipers returned to the Kehilat Bnai Torah synagogue, which was attacked the day before because as Akiva Pollack, a paramedic who was one of the first to the terror scene on Tuesday stressed it was important to return to normal. "When I see the synagogue full, I know they are the people who believe the synagogue will not close but will be strengthened. What we need to do is come back here and pray." (...) Palestinian violence is also incited by the administration of Barack Obama, whose public criticism of Israel and desire for an ethnically pure East Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria is not only unprecedented for a President of the United States in its scope and cruelty, but it serves as nourishment for the Palestinian hatred of the Jews.

46. It Figures! Salon Blames Buffalo Lake Effect Blizzard On Global Warming For a year and a half I went to school at SUNY Oswego which among other things was known for its sunsets. Every night we would watch the sun go into Lake Ontario. Along with that beauty we had lake effect snow, and we could see it coming. Sometime we would see the snow rolling in over the lake from Canada. And when we got the snow, there would be a foot on campus and maybe only an inch of the white stuff a few miles away. That's what has been happening in Buffalo this week---to the extreme.

45. MSNBC's Toure': Rev Martin Luther King Jr. Was a Token:
Appearing on Al Sharpton's MSNBC program Friday night, guest Touré Neblett, co-host of "the Cycle" suggested that Rev Martin Luther King Jr, Lt. Col. Allen West, LL Cool J, Toure's colleague at MSNBC Michael Steele, and Senator Tim Scott and many others like them are all just tokens.  As Neblett put it,  "When you go to the RNC, there's always going to be some chocolate chips in the sea of vanilla ice cream."

44. (Don't Laugh) The New Claim is Climate Change is Going To Start an ICE AGE!: Boy oh Boy the global warming hoaxers are now claiming greenhouse gases are going to cause an Ice Age.  What makes this claim so crazy is not just that it is the opposite of how their little scam started, but the fact is that real scientist are predicting a coming ice age, not because of green house gasses but because of the Earth's normal climate cycles.

43: Antisemitism At U.S. Colleges---Watchdog Publishes List Of Anti-Israel Middle East Studies Professors--AMCHA, an organization trying to fight Antisemitism at college campuses has published a list of 218 professors identifying themselves as Middle East scholars who recently called for the academic boycott of Israel. AMCHA offered the list as a service to students who might want to avoid those biased professors.

42. CENSORSHIP! Forbes Deletes Pro-Israel Opinion Piece  In his "Forbes Magazine" blog, lobbyist and public relations-superstar Jeff Ballabon published a piece called "The 20 Most Ridiculous Things People Believe About The Hamas/Israel Conflict.” Within hours of the article going live, the post was taken down. Ballabon was given conflicting reasons for the removal of the post. The one reason he wasn't given was the most obvious one: "Forbes Magazine" did not like the post's pro-Israel content.

41. Polar Bears Celebrate -Arctic and Antarctic Ice Caps Showing Major Growth  Al Gore must be very sad but the polar bears are probably throwing a party. Seven years Gore predicted the Arctic ice cap would be gone in seven years, the Arctic ice cap has expanded for the second year in succession – with a surge, depending on how you measure it, of between 43 and 63 per cent since 2012. On the other side of the world, the Antarctic cap is at record or near record levels.

Stay tuned..tomorrow we reveal your choices #31-40

A Dozen Facts Debunking Global Warming Obama Can't Answer (Despite The Phony China Deal)

The news was announced early Wednesday November 12, a pseudo climate agreement between the U.S. and China.
Under the deal, the United States would cut its carbon emissions between 26-28% -- from levels established in 2005 -- by 2025. China would peak its carbon emissions no later than 2030 and would also increase the use of non-fossil fuels to 20% by 2030.

"As the world's two largest economies, energy consumers and emitters of greenhouse gases, we have a special responsibility to lead the global effort against climate change," Obama said Wednesday.

Notice in the deal China doesn't have to start cutting back till 2030 and no cut is outlined just a 20% increase. How could they not agree to that. Their biggest economic competitor has to cut back 25-28% by 2025 and they don't have to even start cutting for another five years. This isn't a deal it's a scam the President can use to sell his executive fiats about climate change. According to Poltico , the President is about to embark on two years of climate-related executive orders, guaranteed to trash the economy.
Does the President really understand what is going on with the climate or is he just promoting the hypothesis because it will result in a worldwide redistribution of income between rich and poor nations?  Either way this President is denying the climate facts.

For those of you who want to think for themselves rather than simply listen to the scary speeches of the global warming proponents, I have created a list of a dozen facts about global warming, that those those folks making the scary speeches cannot respond.

Everything below is a fact and I invite the POTUS and /or his climate friends to respond. But they wont. Instead they will call me names like denier or member of the Flat Earth Society (actually there really is a Flat Earth Society and its president believes in the global warming hypothesis so who is the real "flat-earther?)

1) Through Halloween of 2014- The Global Warming Pause has lasted 18 years and one month. Heartland Institute analyst, Peter Ferrara, notes“If you look at the record of global temperature data, you will find that the late 20th Century period of global warming actually lasted about 20 years, from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Before that, the globe was dominated by about 30 years of global cooling, giving rise in the 1970s to media discussions of the return of the Little Ice Age (circa 1450 to 1850), or worse.” So there was thirty years of cooling followed by 20 years of warming and almost 18 years of cooling...and that's what the global warming scare is all about.

2) Antarctic Sea Ice is at record levels and the Arctic ice cap has seen record growth.  Global sea ice area has been averaging above normal for the past two years. But to get around those facts, the global warming enthusiasts are claiming that global warming causes global cooling (really).

3) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant it's what you exhale and it is what "feeds" plants. Without CO2 there would not be a single blade of grass or a redwood tree, nor would there be the animal life that depends on vegetation; wheat and rice, for example, as food. Without CO2 mankind would get pretty hungry. Even worse the global warming proponants keep talking about population control because they don't want more people around to exhale, and let's not talk about what they say about stopping methane (no spicy foods, no cows, no fart jokes).

4) There is not ONE climate computer model that has accurately connected CO2 to climate change. In fact CO2 is at its highest levels in 13,000 years and the earth hasn't warmed in almost 18 years. Approximately 12,750 years ago before big cars and coal plants CO2 levels were higher than today. And during some past ice ages levels were up to 20x today's levels.

5) Even with the relatively high levels there is very little CO2 in the atmosphere. At 78% nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the Earth’s atmosphere. Oxygen is the second most abundant gas-of-life in the atmosphere at 21%. Water vapor is the third most abundant gas-of-life in the atmosphere; it varies up to 5%. Exhale freely because carbon dioxide is the least abundant gas in the atmosphere at 0.04%.

6) The climate models pushed by the global warming enthusiasts haven't been right. Think about that one for a second. If you believe what people like Al Gore the polar ice caps should have melted by now (actually by last year), most coastal cities should be underwater and it should be a lot warmer by now. As my Mom always said, Man plans and God laughs. The Earth's climate is a very complicated system and the scientists haven't been able to account for all the components to create an accurate model.

7) You are more likely to see the tooth fairy or a unicorn than a 97% consensus of scientists believing that there is man-made global warming. The number is a convenient fraud. Investigative journalists at Popular Technology reported the 97% Study falsely classifies scientists' papers, according to the scientists that published them.  A more extensive examination of the Cook study reported that out of the nearly 12,000 scientific papers Cook’s team evaluated, only 65 endorsed Cook’s alarmist position. That is less than 0.97%. How did they come up with 97%? Well out of all the scientists who had a definite opinion, 97% agreed there was global warming and it was the fault of mankind. And how did the Cook folks determine which scientists believed what? They didn't ask, they read papers written by these scientists and came up with their own opinion.

8) I changed my mind...this past February, Patrick Moore, a Canadian ecologist, and the co-founder of Greenpeace, the militant environmental group told members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee “There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years.” There are more like Moore.

9) Back to Ice Age-- predictions. When I took Earth Science in college 38 years ago, the professor explained that the scientific consensus was we are heading toward an ice age.  That was just before text books were changed to discuss global warming. That was followed by calling it climate change. Now many scientists claim there is new evidence that the Earth may be heading toward an ice age (please stop crying Mr. Gore).

10) Droughts have not increased. It is misleading and just plain incorrect to claim that disasters associated with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods or droughts have increased on climate timescales either in the United States or globally,” Professor Roger Pielke Jr. said in his testimony before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

In May of 2014 Professor Pielke published a graph that shows the intensity of the planet's droughts from 1982 to 2012. The graph shows that neither droughts nor their intensity have seen a growth trend during that 30-year period.

11) Polar Bears are alive and well and not dying out. In the Fall 2014 issue of RANGE Magazine Dr. Susan Crockford wrote, “In a recent TV ad campaign, the Center for Biological Diversity said, “global warming is pushing polar bears to the absolute brink.” Results of recent research show this to be a lie – fat, healthy bears like this one from near Barrow, Alaska, are still common and many of the assumptions used by computer models to predict future disasters have turned out to be wrong.” In case you were wondering, walruses are doing fine also.

12) No Increase In Hurricanes: A study published in the July 2012 Journal of the American Meteorological Society concluded unequivocally there is no trend of stronger or more frequent storms, asserting:
We have identified considerable inter-annual variability in the frequency of global hurricane landfalls, but within the resolution of the available data, our evidence does not support the presence of significant long-period global or individual basin linear trends for minor, major, or total hurricanes within the period(s) covered by the available quality data.
Actually to be honest global warming is man-made. While the Earth isn't warming an the theory and the scare about global warming is entirely man-made.

John Kerry Says Global Warming Will End Life On Earth As You Know It

Thursday, Secretary of State John Kerry gave a speech at the Wind Technology Testing Center in Boston, Massachusetts welcoming his guest U.K. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond in which Kerry warned that climate change will cause "Life as you know it on Earth ends."  That my friends is a pretty serious warning. Life as we know it...wow...that's Biblical-type "lion will lie down with the sheep but the sheep will have a lousy night's sleep" type of thing.

Thankfully, after reading Kerry's warning..there's nothing to worry about.
Climate change is already impacting the world in very real and significant ways. This past August was the hottest August the planet has ever seen in recorded history. And each year of the last ten years, a decade, has been measured as being hotter than the last with one or two variations of which year followed which, but as a decade the hottest in our recorded history.
Oh John, this might help you lose the long face...you see how could this be the hottest decade in history when there hasn't been warming in the past 18 years and one month.

And add to that the fact that the "medieval warming period" was much warmer than it is today. Kerry follows up with the drought story:
There are now – right now – serious food shortages taking place in places like Central America because regions are battling the worst droughts in decades, not 100-year events in terms of floods, in terms of fires, in terms of droughts – 500-year events, something unheard of in our measurement of weather.
Kerry's claim does not agree with science that states there has been no increase in droughts world-wide.

"It is misleading and just plain incorrect to claim that disasters associated with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods or droughts have increased on climate timescales either in the United States or globally,” Professor Roger Pielke Jr. said in his testimony before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

In May of 2014 Professor Pielke published a graph that shows the intensity of the planet's droughts from 1982 to 2012. The graph shows that neither droughts nor their intensity have seen a growth trend during that 30-year period.

Scientists now predict that with glaciers and melting of the ice at the current rates, the sea could rise now a full meter in this century. A meter might not seem like a whole lot, but let me tell you, think about it just in terms of Boston. It would mean about $100 billion worth of damage to buildings, to emergency costs, and so on.
Yes the sea level has been rising. In fact for the past 20,000 years the sea level has been rising about 4-8 inches per century, long before industrialization. And for the past 8 thousand years that sea level rise has been slowing down:
Sea levels have been rising naturally for the past 20,000 years since the peak of the last ice age, and at much, much faster rates in the past (up to 40 times faster than today). Sea level rise greatly decelerated about 8,000 years ago to rates similar to today.

The sea level rise is a result of the end of the last ice age, not global warming.

About those Ice Caps. Al Gore must be very sad but the polar bears are probably throwing a party.

The UK Daily Mail reported in August  the daily satellite readings issued by the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, which is co-funded by NASA reveal that – while the long-term trend still shows a decline – last Monday, August 25, the area of the Arctic Ocean with at least 15 per cent ice cover was 5.62 million square kilometres.
This was the highest level recorded on that date since 2006 (see graph, right), and represents an increase of 1.71 million square kilometres over the past two years – an impressive 43 per cent.

Other figures from the Danish Meteorological Institute suggest that the growth has been even more dramatic. Using a different measure, the area with at least 30 per cent ice cover, these reveal a 63 per cent rise – from 2.7 million to 4.4 million square kilometres.
Not only is the arctic ice cap getting bigger but it is getting thicker also.
The satellite images above are taken from a further authoritative source, the University of Illinois’s Cryosphere project.

They show that as well as becoming more extensive, the ice has grown more concentrated, with the purple areas – denoting regions where the ice pack is most dense – increasing markedly.

Crucially, the ice is also thicker, and therefore more resilient to future melting. Professor Andrew Shepherd, of Leeds University, an expert in climate satellite monitoring, said yesterday: ‘It is clear from the measurements we have collected that the Arctic sea ice has experienced a significant recovery in thickness over the past year.

‘It seems that an unusually cool summer in 2013 allowed more ice to survive through to last winter. This means that the Arctic sea ice pack is thicker and stronger than usual, and this should be taken into account when making predictions of its future extent.’
Recently renowned Swedish sea level expert and climatologist Nils-Axel Mörner was interviewed via Email about the Antarctic sea ice expansion by website Notrickszone. According to Dr. Mörner
Whilst there is a general hysteria of global warming, increasing temperature and rising sea level, new records from Antarctica indicate the opposite: a significant increase in the extent of sea ice over the last 30 years (in the order of 1 million square km) and a decrease in sea surface temperature south of Lat. 60°S (in the order of 0.4 °C).
Why is this? First the global warming hysteria is just what it is: a large-scale hysteria, which is primarily based on disinformation:
- The warming during the 20th century seems primarily driven by the Sun.
- There is negative evidence of CO2-driven process.
- The cooling over the last 17 years and 11 months is predominantly driven by the Sun.
- Sea level is by no means rising at an alarming rate
Kerry switched to economics:
Let me just share with you something. We in Massachusetts ought to be particularly tuned into this. In the 1990s, America created more wealth than at any other time in our history, more even than the famous 1920s and ’30s, when people read about the history of the Carnegies and the Mellons and the Rockefellers and the Fricks and so forth. We created greater wealth in the 1990s in America than we did when we had no income tax in the 1920s.
The Secretary of State is half right--there was growth but what drove that growth was consumer demand not government regulation.
I’d just say to all of you here that people need to feel the pressure from you. You all know what politics is about. I’m not in it now, but I’m dependent on it to help make the right decisions so that we move in the right direction. A clean energy future is not a fantasy. Changing course and avoiding the worst impacts of climate change is not a fantasy. And supporting healthier communities and ecosystems and driving economic growth and job creation – none of that is a fantasy. And for those people who still stand in the way, for those people who even still today want to try to question whether or not their science is effective or not, I’d just ask you – ask a simple question: If we’re wrong about this future, what’s the worst that could happen to us for making these choices?
What could go wrong? When the government picks winners and losers we end up with fewer jobs, economic decline, higher taxes and deficit, and an uncertain business climate which causes a lack of investment by industry.
What happens if they’re wrong? (Applause.) If they’re wrong – catastrophe. Life as you know it on Earth ends. Seven degrees increase Fahrenheit, and we can’t sustain crops, water, life under those circumstances.
Thank God the science says that Kerry is wrong...so the lion is not about to lie with the lamb and the lamb will sleep restfully.

Meghan McCain Finds Solution To Convincing Republicans That Global Warming Is 'Like' Real

Meghan McCain, daughter of Senator John McCain, whose primary talent is that she is the daughter of a U.S. Senator, is a co-host on Pivot's daily program TakePart Live. Monday evening's program featured a discussion of climate change and the self-proclaimed spokesperson for younger Republicans claimed to have found the solution to convince Republicans to believe in global warming. She bloviated:
Republicans obviously are the demographic that we’re not talking about, but I am going to make us talk about that for predominantly don’t believe in climate change. I mean I do watch Fox News at nighttime on occasion — and a lot of times you see people throwing around climate change, like, “of course climate change isn’t real, this is just a liberal issue.”

And I think this is a cultural issue. It’s like two cultures in America clashing against each other. It’s not even about climate change anymore. This is a Democrat issue; this is a Republican issue.

And I just think if we make this more accessible to people and turn this into a cultural issue, meaning, Republicans you’re not going to be able to hunt and fish as much, which I love doing, if there is no f**king fish to get!”
Perhaps before talking about fishing, Ms McCain could try and address the following facts which cast doubt on global warming such as:

Through September first of 2014- The Earth hasn't warmed in 17 Years And 11 Months. Heartland Institute analyst Peter Ferrara notes ;
If you look at the record of global temperature data, you will find that the late 20th Century period of global warming actually lasted about 20 years, from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Before that, the globe was dominated by about 30 years of global cooling, giving rise in the 1970s to media discussions of the return of the Little Ice Age (circa 1450 to 1850), or worse.
In other words, the earth has cooled in 48 of the past 68 years.

Antarctic Sea Ice is at record levels and the Arctic ice cap has seen record growth.

There is not even one climate computer model that has accurately connected CO2 to climate change. In fact, CO2 is at its highest levels in 13,000 years and the earth hasn't warmed in almost 18 years. Approximately 12,750 years ago before big cars and coal plants CO2 levels were higher than today. And during some past ice ages levels were up to 20x today's levels.

There is no truth to the claim of a 97% consensus of scientists believing that there is man-made global warming. The number is a convenient fraud. Investigative journalists at Popular Technology reported the 97% study falsely classifies scientists' papers, according to the scientists that published them . A more extensive examination of the Cook study reported that out of the nearly 12,000 scientific papers Cook’s team evaluated, only 65 endorsed Cook’s alarmist position. That is less than 0.97%. How did they come up with 97%? Of all the scientists who had a definite opinion, 97% agreed there was global warming and it was the fault of mankind. How did the Cook folks determine which scientists believed what? They didn't ask; they read papers written by these scientists and came up with their own opinion.

Back to Ice Age-- predictions. There is new evidence via peer-reviewed scientific papers that the Earth may be heading toward an ice age.

One additional point: although Ms. McCain claims to love hunting and fishing, an examination of her public Instagram page reveals many of her outdoor activities, but there were no pictures of the Senator's daughter doing either of the activities she claimed to love. One picture on her Instragram page however, was obviously taken by Ms. McCain while she was whale-watching:

Eight Global Warming Facts To Which The UN & Monday's Climate Marchers Cannot Respond

Monday saw a large march of global warming supporters through the streets of Manhattan--even the UN Secretary General and the Mayor of New York joined the 'fun". I wonder, however what the politicians and the marchers really know about what they are marching for? It is seriously doubtful they have done anything more than listen to the scary speeches of the global warming proponents.

So to make it easier for them, I have created a list of eight facts about global warming, to which those folks making the scary cannot respond. Everything below is a fact and I invite the folks who marched in Monday's 'parade' to come up with a response, and if they can't they can ask the parade organizers to respond.  I will print every response as long as it deals with the facts below.

1) Through September first of 2014- The Earth hasn't warmed in 17 Years And 11 Months.

But to get around those facts, the global warming enthusiasts are claiming that global warming causes global cooling (really).

3) Carbon Dioxide (CO2)is not a pollutant, it's what you exhale and it is what "feeds" plants. Without CO2 there would not be a single blade of grass or a redwood tree, nor would there be  the animal life that depends on vegetation; wheat and rice, for example, as food.

6) You are more likely to see the tooth fairy or a unicorn than a 97% consensus of scientists believing that there is man-made global warming. Well out of all the scientists who had a definite opinion, 97% agreed there was global warming and it was the fault of mankind. And how did the Cook folks determine which scientists believed what? They didn't ask, they read papers written by these scientists and came up with their own opinion.

7) I changed my mind...this past February, Patrick Moore, a Canadian ecologist, and the co-founder of Greenpeace, the militant environmental group told members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee “There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years.” There are more like Moore.

8) Back to Ice Age-- predictions. If my Mom of blessed memory were still alive, she would tell me to run out to the store and purchase heavy sweaters and a extra warm winter coat. In fact after reading this story she would issue a major Jewish Mother Sweater Alert all because there is new evidence that the Earth may be heading toward an ice age (please stop crying Mr. Gore).

The Latest Crazy Excuse From The Warming Enthusiasts---Global Warming Causes Global Cooling

This sounds like things are getting a bit desperate for the folks in the global warming industry. Global Warming researchers from the United States and China on Thursday explained why the rapid global warming in the late 20th century has been slowing down over the last 15 years.  Actually it hasn't slowed down, it's stopped and as of the beginning of August it's not 15 years but the earth hasn't shown any warming for 17 years, 10 months.
The researchers reported in the U.S. journal Science that the so-called global warming hiatus may be mainly due to a massive movement of heat from shallow surface waters to deep regions of the Atlantic and Southern Oceans.
Understand what they are saying--hot shallow surface water (since its shallow surface water it must have been heated from the atmosphere even though the atmosphere hasn't warmed for almost 18 years), moves to deep regions of the Atlantic and Southern Oceans.

"Every week there's a new explanation of the hiatus," corresponding author Ka-Kit Tung, a professor of applied mathematics at the University of Washington, said in a statement.

Wait a second...a mathematician? Now I get it--he believes in global warming because he worked it out with chalk.
Tung and co-author Xianyao Chen of the Ocean University of China used recent observations of deep-sea temperatures from a network of devices called Argo floats that sample the water down to 2,000 meters.

The data showed an increase in heat sinking in Atlantic and Southern Oceans around 1999, when the rapid warming of the 20th century stopped.

"The finding is a surprise, since the current theories had pointed to the Pacific Ocean as the culprit for hiding heat," Tung said. "But the data are quite convincing and they show otherwise."
Ah I get it now hot water sinks.  Wait a second...hot water doesn't sink COLD water sinks. They taught us that in grade school.  Remember this simple experiment?

OH Wait they've  figured it out--sort of. The researchers also suggested that a sudden shift in salinity may have triggered this migration of heat to deeper waters.
Recent observations at the surface in the North Atlantic find record-high saltiness, Tung said, while at the same time, deeper water in the North Atlantic shows increasing amounts of heat.

"When it's heavy water on top of light water, it just plunges very fast and takes heat with it," Tung said.

As a result, a slow-moving current in the Atlantic, which carries heat between the two poles, sped up earlier this century to draw heat down almost 1,500 meters, the researchers said.
OK lets summarize.  The Atmosphere which isn't getting warmer, is heating up the water on the surface which is causing the warmer water sink which isn't supposed to happen. But as we learned in the section above the water sinking has nothing to do with the warming air it sinks because of the salt.  Which is also why my family physician worries about my blood pressure but I digress.
The researchers also dug up historical data to show that there was another hiatus between 1945 and 1975, which caused people to worry about the start of an Ice Age.
Earlier records in Central England show the 40- to 70-year cycle goes back centuries, and other records show it has existed for millennia.

The researchers concluded that changes in Atlantic Ocean circulation meant roughly 30 warmer years followed by 30 cooler years.

"There are recurrent cycles that are salinity-driven that can store heat deep in the Atlantic and Southern oceans," Tung said. " After 30 years of rapid warming in the warm phase, now it's time for the cool phase."

Since similar events have lasted 30 years historically, the researchers suggested that the current slowdown in global warming could last for another 15 years, then rapid warming will return.
But wait a second if that pattern has existed for millennia that means the warming period of the 70s-90s is part of a normal Earth climate pattern and not because of anything man does.  These global warming people are giving me (and the polar bear above) a headache.

But wait...that's a good thing...that's what I have been saying, the warming which ended almost 18 years ago isn't because of Man-- it is part of  a natural Earth cycle.

More Scientists Predict Global Cooling: It's Time For A Jewish Mother Sweater Alert!

Gore).

We last covered this topic in September of 2013, but in the nine months since that post, many more scientists have predicted the Earth is not warming----it's cooling.

Dr. David Evans Australian Scientist  predicts a sharp global cooling in the near future, he wrote in June 2014:
The reason for the [coming] cooling is the dramatic fall in solar radiation that started around 2004.

There have been three big, steep falls in solar radiation in the last 400 years.

The first was in the 1600s. It led to the depths of the Little Ice Age, and the Maunder Minimum. This was the coldest period during the last 400 years. There used to be fairs on the ice in the Thames River in London, because it would freeze over for weeks at a time.

The second fall is around the time of Napoleon and it preceded the second coldest period in the last 400 years, called the Dalton Minimum.

The third fall occurred recently, starting in about 2004. This recent fall is as big as the fall in Napoleon’s time, almost as large as the fall in the 1600s, and it seems to be steeper than either of those falls. But the temperature hasn’t fallen … yet. The cooling is most likely to begin in 2017.
The delay could be as much as 20 years, in which case the drop could be as late as 2024. Or it could occur as soon as 2014. An El Nino or La Nina could affect the timing too. At this stage, we don’t know. But by the end of 2018 seems fairly likely.
Dr. Evans paper agrees directionally with one published by solar physicist Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov who predicted in Dec. 2013 the current lull in solar activity will continue and lead to a new Little Ice Age within the next 30 years.
Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov who heads Russia’s prestigious Pulkovo Observatory in St. Petersburg predicts that: “after the maximum of solar Cycle-24, from approximately 2014, we can expect the start of the next bicentennial cycle of deep cooling with a Little Ice Age in 2055 plus or minus 11 years” (the 19th to occur in the past 7,500 years).

Dr. Abdussamatov points out that Earth has experienced such occurrences five times over the last 1,000 years, and that: “A global freeze will come about regardless of whether or not industrialized countries put a cap on their greenhouse gas emissions. The common view of Man’s industrial activity is a deciding factor in global warming has emerged from a misinterpretation of cause and effect.”
A paper published in 2012 but not appearing on the web until early June 2014 in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics finds long solar cycles predict lower temperatures during the following solar cycle.
A lag of 11 years [the average solar cycle length] is found to provide maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature. On the basis of the long sunspot cycle of the last solar cycle 23, the authors predict an average temperature decrease of 1C over the current solar cycle 24 from 2009-2020 for certain locations.

The authors also find "solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase" and "For 3 North Atlantic stations we get 63–72% solar contribution [to the temperature increase of the past 150 years]. This points to the Atlantic currents as reinforcing a solar signal."
Horst-Joachin Luedecke and Carl-Otto Weiss, German Scientists who work at the European Institute for Climate and Energy, say that "two naturally occurring climate cycles will combine to lower global temperatures during the next century."
They added, "by the year 2100, temperatures on this planet will plunge to levels seen at the end of the 'Little Ice Age' in 1870."
These researchers used historical data detailing temperatures as well as cave stalagmites to show a recurring 200-year solar cycle called the DeVries Cycle.

They likewise featured into their studies a well-established 65-year Atlantic and Pacific Ocean oscillation cycle of warming that has occurred since 1870 and will soon shift to a much cooler cycle of sea-surface temperatures, in other words, more chilly 'La Ninas' and less warm 'El Ninos.'

Solar activity is one area of evidence that scientists have used for decades in predicting both global warming and global cooling. Low sunspot activity has been linked to the 'Little Ice Age' between 1350 and 1870. The recent warmer periods have been associated with much higher than normal solar activity.

But, despite the current sunspot 'maxima' phase, which has been weaker than normal, we've seen a series of very harsh winter seasons in both hemispheres in the past several years, especially in Europe and Asia.
Other cooling predictions have come from Professor Mike Lockwood of Reading University, Three Scientists from the Weizmann Institute in Israel, German geologist Dr. Sebastian Lüning, and others.

Now add on top of the above the fact that the Earth hasn't warmed in almost 18 years, the US has seen temperatures drop for the past 80 years, and the Antarctic has set a new record for sea ice, give a strong indication than Mother Nature doesn't believe that  global warming is settled science.

When I took Earth Science as a freshman in college during the 1970s, we were taught that because of historic global cycles most scientists believed the Earth was likely heading for a cooling period, possibly even an ice age. Many scientists today believe that the lack of solar activity means what the Earth Science professor taught is coming to fruition.

At the very least, the warmists' claim that global warming is settled science is a crock of yellow ice. Truth is the science is very much unsettled and claims that global warming is nothing but a scare is perfectly valid.

In the meantime, while the science is being settled, maybe you should buy warm gloves and a hat with that new winter coat, it will make your mother happy.
