(Don't Laugh) The New Claim is Climate Change is Going To Start an ICE AGE!

Boy oh Boy the global warming hoaxers are now claiming greenhouse gases are going to cause an Ice Age.  What makes this claim so crazy is not just that it is the opposite of how their little scam started, but the fact is that real scientist are predicting a coming ice age, not because of green house gasses but because of the Earth's normal climate cycles.

As fear mongered in America's Blog:
Discontinuities work in the social sphere as well, in the sphere of confidence and panic. As I’ll show you shortly, the first major (white) American city to end its life forever following a Haiyan-sized hurricane — Miami, for example — will cause a collapse in American confidence in the future that will never return. That loss of confidence and the panic that will result is a collapse as well, a discontinuity, fear the size of Ohio breaking the population from its safe assumptions and presumed security.
Before we go on, allow me to point out that a study published in the July 2012 Journal of the American Meteorological Society concluded unequivocally there is no trend of stronger or more frequent storms:
“We have identified considerable inter-annual variability in the frequency of global hurricane landfalls,” the authors state, “but within the resolution of the available data, our evidence does not support the presence of significant long-period global or individual basin linear trends for minor, major, or total hurricanes within the period(s) covered by the available quality data.”
 Back to the fear mongering:
Here’s another discontinuity. The Gulf Stream, the warm-water current that starts in the Gulf of Mexico and terminates in the Atlantic north of Scotland, also has collapse potential. Because of the Gulf Stream, northern Europe is moderate in climate. What if the Gulf Stream collapses and stops warming Europe?
(...)So what would happen, do you think, if the Gulf Stream part of the global mid-ocean circulation stopped, was interrupted?
(...)It is believed that this dynamic, sudden glaciation of Europe, happens as a result of a global warming event that melts enough fresh-water ice in the north Atlantic to desalinate (dilute the dense salt content of) the surface part of the northern Gulf Stream. Because the surface current is no longer heavier than the surrounding ocean, it fails to sink when cooled. This causes the surface current to terminate further south than before, never reaching Europe.
The Hoaxer ends by calling everyone a liar:
If this stuff concerns you, tell everyone you know that Zero Carbon Now is the way out — and the only one. Education is our first task at this point, since the other side is selling us hard the wrong way. ”Carbon neutral” is just another trick for keeping David Koch in walking money. Even “lying pantsuit lady” — the Exxon spokeswoman — probably knows that. After all, she’s cashing those checks too; just smaller ones.
Now America blog may be right about the Ice Age, but wrong about the cause.

In August Irish solar expert Ian Elliott echoed other recent reports predicting that lower levels of sunspot activity over the next few years “indicates that we may be on the path to a new little ice age.”
“It all points to perhaps another little ice age,” he said. “It seems likely we are going to enter a period of very low solar activity and could mean we are in for very cold winters.”
Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov from the St. Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory also says we are heading for a "Mini Ice Age."
Building on observations made by English astronomer Walter Maunder, Dr Abdussamatov, said he had found that the Earth cools and warms in a 200-year cycles.

The last big freeze known as the Little Ice Age was between 1650 and 1850 which he said coincided with Maunder’s findings that there had been no sunspots between 1645 and 1715.

Writing in his blog, Abdussamatov said: "The last global decrease of temperature (the most cold phase of the Little Ice Age) was observed not only in Europe, North America and Greenland, but also in any other part of the world during the Maunder minimum of sunspot activity and of the total solar irradiance in 1645–1715 years.
Phil Chapman a geophysicist an astronautical engineer and a NASA astronaut, agrees.
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.
Then there are the researchers who say, the climate goes a bit crazy before each Ice Age.
Researchers took a look at what happened to the climate just before the last major glacier period, around 115,000 years ago and they found that there was a period of extreme climate fluctuations. They suggest that the period of global warming that plateaued over 17 years ago may just be one of those pre-glacier heat waves.

It's amazing how the global warming hoaxers try and scare us.  First we were entering a warming period that was going to result in NY City being under water.  When that was proven wrong, they switched to major storms being caused by climate change (as opposed to global warming). When that was proved wrong, the earth is going to freeze.  Of course that claim may turn out to be correct, but not because of climate change or global warming, but because the Earth is long over due for an ice age.

Readers Picks for The Top Ten Stories of the Year 2013

Since last week we have been counting down your choice for the top 50 posts on The Lid (based on traffic). The first installment was Wednesday when we posted #41-50, Thursday we posted #31-40 , Friday was #21-30, Sunday was #11-20, and today we reveal your top ten stories of the year.

#10 The Welfare Of The People Has Always Been The Alibi Of Tyrants  (6/7/13) America is slowly moving toward abandoning those rights endowed to us by our creator and protected by the United States Constitution. Those of you who read this article and think it a hit piece on Barack Obama and/or George W. Bush you are wrong. This trend of abdicating freedom started way before 9/11. The American people have been voluntarily transferring their rights to the government—not an overt transfer; electing both Republicans and Democrats who believe that government can solve all of your problems has done it. When you put government in control of solving problems—by necessity they take away your freedoms to execute their solutions.

#9 JEWISH MOTHER SWEATER ALERT!!! Science Indicates Earth is Heading Toward an ICE AGE (8/14/13) If my Mom of blessed memory were still alive, she would tell me to run out the the store to purchase heavy sweaters and a extra warm winter coat. In fact after reading this story she would issue a major Jewish Mother Sweater Alert all because there is new evidence that the Earth may be heading toward an ice age (please stop crying Mr. Gore).

# 8 Helen Thomas (HATER)1920-2013: Why I'm Proud I "Took Her Down" (7/30/13) My "association" with Helen Thomas began on a Friday, a month longer than three years ago when my friend Rabbi David Nesenoff sent me a video which contained a short explosive interview he had conducted with Helen Thomas. There on tape the veteran White House correspondent gave a statement that many people (including me) saw as telling the Jews to go face another Holocaust. That was probably one of the more pleasant things Thomas has ever said about Jews.

On the call David asked me if there was anything I could do with the video. He had already offered it to the mainstream media and even The Jewish Week, a weekly progressive newspaper for the Jewish community. Taking up David's challenge, I guaranteed the video would have a half a million hits before he turned on the computer again after the Sabbath (I was wrong--it was over 750 thousand).

#7 An Annotated List Of the President's 23 Gun Control Executive Orders (1/16/13) What a pile of nothing. Both the POTUS and the SCHMOTUS had been warning that Obama would take hard constructive action on gun control.  For days advocates of the constitution were worried that Obama would seek to destroy the Second Amendment by executive fiat. Instead his actions were the typical political "We will do better and we will study." One thing the POTUS missed...there is no executive order preventing the Federal Government from selling weapons to Mexican Drug Cartels...everyone would support that one.  Below is the list of all 23 Executive Orders regarding gun control issued by Obama today--annotated with some "pithy" comments (in Red).

#6 FDR's Antisemitism Doomed Thousands of Jews To Suffer The Holocaust: A Lesson For Today's Jewish Leaders (4/5/13) During the Holocaust, the misguided reverence by the so called Jewish leadership allowed an Antisemitic Franklin Roosevelt to ignore the suffering of the Jews under Hitler. It is a mark of the poverty of today's so called Jewish leaders that they are repeating the mistake of so long ago. Through their misguided reverence for a US President (who is not anti-Semitic) they are ignoring-storm front surrounding the 6 million Jews in Israel. In fact they are aiding Obama's naive (or anti-Israel) push to pressure Israel for concessions when it is the Palestinian side who refuses to even recognize her right to exist as the Jewish State.

#5 UPDATE: Boston Bomber's Dad: If They Kill My Second Child All Hell Would Break Loose (4/19/13)  ABC Spoke to the Bombers' Father from his home in Makhachkala, Russia.
"If they kill my second child, I will know that it is an inside job, a hit job. The police are to blame," the father told ABC News. "Someone, some organization is out to get them."
All hell would break loose? I wonder what that means.

#4 How Dare You Call Me NAZI Rep Clyburn-I Have Family Who Died In the Holocaust (8/21/13) Attacks on the right wing blogisphere are common practice, but one part of Rep. Clyburn's comments is way over the line. The part where he accused right-wingers of using Hitler-like tactics.

EXCUSE ME? Hitler? REALLY?? How dare he cheapen the memory of the Holocaust with inappropriate references.  I am sick and tired of  Democrats and their fake Shoah references (Shoah is the word Jews use for the Holocaust it's Hebrew for Disaster).

#3 EXCLUSIVE Who's Crazier Anthony Weiner or His Sexting Partner? Her Ex-Boyfriend Says: She Was a "Fatal Attraction" (7/27/13) The last woman Drew Hanley dated before he met his wife was Anthony Wieners latest public sexting partner Sidney Elaine Leathers. After learning of the relationship from his brother, I spoke to/emailed Drew Hanley about his ex. I sent him the pictures I had and asked him to confirm that we were talking about the same person, responded with a confirmation and the picture of the two of them above.

#2 Washington Post Chief Meteorologist: Bill Nye Is a Weather Idiot  (2/11/13) Like all good Washington Post-ers, Jason Samenow the paper's Chief Meteorologist was watching MSNBC on Saturday and happened upon guest Bill Nye-The Science Guy explaining all about the recent east coast blizzard. Apparently Nye got almost everything wrong and Mr. Samenow's review was rather brutal, but Nye deserved it all!

#1 Despite Mistake--Dana Loesch Destroys Piers Morgan in Gun Control Debate (1/17/13) After last night, CNN's Piers Morgan must realize there are some things that are more dangerous than (what he calls) a military-style assault weapon, that is debating Dana Loesch.  On his show he attempted to debate Dana as well as Scottie Hughes of the Tea Party network. The two women turned the left-wing Morgan into a slobbering pile of steaming televised protoplasm. At the end he even admits that Dana's spirited debate points made him sick.

Thank you all for reading these pages in 2013,  stay tuned one year from today we will reveal your choices for next year's top stories.

Reader Picks For The Top 50 Stories of 2013 #31-40

As it is our tradition, the last five days of the year we post which stories you enjoyed the most, based on total traffic the top fifty posts of the year. Today the countdown of readers top stories of the year continues.  From 12/26/2012-12/25/2013 there were 1,144 posts to this site, these are the fifty which were read the most.  Yesterday we posted  #41-50, today is #31-40....if you click on the title you can read the entire post:

#40 Obama Hinted A 2nd Administration Would Be Anti-Israel, So Why Are People Surprised Now? (11/10/13)During his trip to the Middle East to revive the struggling peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Secretary of State John Kerry agreed to joint interview with Israel's Channel 2 and the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation. Aired Thursday, Kerry took a one-sided and threatening tone toward Israel, including some very undiplomatic words which could be used to incite new violence against the Jewish State.

#39 NYS Sen. Dems Delay Abortion Vote So Sabbath-Observant Pro-Life Jew Would Leave Before Ballot (7/7/13)  On Friday afternoons observant Jew face a different deadline than their gentile colleagues, they need to be home with their families before sundown and the beginning of the Sabbath.  It's not just a matter of being home for the holiday, we Jews believe that just as God rested after six days of creation,  on the seventh day of each week,  Jews are commanded not to work or do 39 other activities which relate to "creating."  Democrats in the NY State Senate tried to take advantage of the Jewish Sabbath, by delaying a vote on  an abortion-rights amendment till the Jewish Sabbath so Brooklyn Sen. Simcha Felder, an Orthodox Jew and fellow Democrat, wouldn't be able to vote. But they didn't count on Felder getting advice from his Rabbi.

#38 Federal Judge "Bitch Slaps" Obama's EEOC--Calls Their Case "Laughable”,“Distorted and Cherry-Picked" (8/16/13) Wow it is very rare for a Federal District Judge to to through together so many nasty adjectives in in one opinion but Judge Roger Titus blasted the Obama Administration's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) case as he tossed out its case against Freeman Decorating Services Inc. In his angry ruling the Judge called the EEOC's allegations “laughable,” “distorted,” “cherry-picked,” “worthless” and “an egregious example of scientific dishonesty.”

#37 Allegheny College Gives Masturbation Class-In a CHURCH!?!?  (2/21/13) Allegheny College bills itself as a unique place where students embrace the College's total educational experience.  They brag that their students have the uncanny ability to create unusual combinations of interests and talents.  And the latest news about the school certainty supports their case. According to  Allegheny student Katie McHugh who reported the story in The Fix.  The Ford Memorial Chapel was the location for an interesting class,  as professional sex educators advised students in attendance how best to touch themselves and their partners to reach orgasm.

#36 HOLDER PERJURY?? TWO JUDGES SAID NO Before Holder Got James Rosen Warrant (5/24/13) This isn't going to go down well for Eric Holder and the administration.  Last night NBC News reported that it was AG Holder who personally approved the decision to go after Fox News' James Rosen. Today the Department of Justice told Reuters the NBC report is correct, possibly setting up the Attorney General to be indited for perjury.

#35 Are These Videos of Barack Obama From 2003? (5/1/13) I just ran across these videos. These ten year old commercials for Budweiser True may star Barack Obama. They must have done a great makeup job because the actor doesn't look at all like the president but the words are so eerily familiar.

#34 Your Tax Dollars At Work: U Of Minn. Offers Class On Achieving Female Orgasm (1/29/13) When I was graduating high school my parents told me that I could go to any school I wanted, as long as it was a state school. After all the State U of NY system was partially funded by the state and they represented the only schools in our "price range."   With this latest news kids all over the country may be begging their parents to move to the cold air of Minnesota so they can take advantage of some of the latest offerings partially paid for by the taxpayers of the state.

#33 JEWISH MOTHER SWEATER ALERT!!! Both Ice Caps Showing Rapid Growth-Experts Warn of Ice Age (9/8/13) Last month we reported the growing number of scientists warning that the earth was heading toward an ice age (something that made Al Gore very sad). Today's UK Daily Mail gives more evidence that would have made my mother, of blessed memory issue a major Jewish Mother Sweater Alert because the Arctic Ice cap grew by 60% this past year and more scientists are warning of the coming ice age.

#32 The 12 Dumbest Uses of Scientific Research Dollars in 2012 (12/26/12) Sometimes Truth is funnier than fiction...I saw this list on Live Science and just had to share-The 12 Most DUH Scientific conclusions of the year. Its incredible that people with degrees actually took the time and spent the money for this kind of research (and some of these were funded with federal grant money). Maybe it is so these "experts" can say they know better.  Read the dirty dozen...I added some of my snarky comments.

#31 NY Post Has Proof Census ‘Faked’ 2012 Election Jobs Report (Jack Welch Was Right)(11/19/13) When the jobs report came out the first week of October 2012 reporting a drop from 8.1 to 7.8%, many people thought it was bogus, in fact Jack  Welch believed the report was bogus and it launched a major war between the former GE CEO and Time Warner (Fortune, CNN, Money) who went out of their way to dispute Welch's claim but went after him personally  Fortune.com ran a story detailing "Welch's record as a job destroyer"

Hope you enjoy...tomorrow we look at #21-30

Sorry Global Warming Advocates--Study Shows it Was Warmer in Roman Times Than Today

Scientists may have figured out why Romans wore togas and the global warming theorists are not going to be pleased. A new study by Swiss scientists finds the earth was warmer during Roman and Medieval times than it is today, which indicates that greenhouse gases may not be the driving force behind the modern global warming trend.
The study, by scientist Leif Kullman, analyzed 455 “radiocarbon-dated mega-fossils” in the Scandes Mountains and found that tree lines for different species of trees were higher during the Roman and Medieval times than they are today. Not only that, but the temperatures were higher as well.

“Historical tree line positions are viewed in relation to early 21st century equivalents, and indicate that tree line elevations attained during the past century and in association with modern climate warming are highly unusual, but not unique, phenomena from the perspective of the past 4,800 years,” Kullman found. “Prior to that, the pine tree line (and summer temperatures) was consistently higher than present, as it was also during the Roman and Medieval periods.”

Kullman also wrote that “summer temperatures during the early Holocene thermal optimum may have been 2.3°C higher than present.” The “Holocene thermal optimum was a warm period that occurred between 9,000 and 5,000 years ago. This warm period was followed by a gradual cooling period.”

According to Kullman, the temperature spikes were during the Roman and Medieval warming periods “were succeeded by a distinct tree line/temperature dip, broadly corresponding to the Little Ice Age.”
The importance of this report is that it indicates the Earth was warmer in pre-industrial times, meaning that mother nature rather than man may be driving climate change.

This latest study is part of the mounting evidence that global warming may not be the problem that Al Gore and others claim it is. Most of the “gloom and doom” predictions made by the global warming theorists have not come true. Even the climate change histrionics one sees in the media after every major storm or fire are wrong, as the frequency of hurricanes, tornados, and wildfires are all way down.

Other facts arguing against the climate change theory include, in its latest report the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the U.N.’s global warming organization, acknowledge that the Earth’s temperatures haven’t gotten warmer in over 15 years. Additionally, both polar ice caps are growing at near record rates. In fact some peer-reviewed studies are predicting the earth is about to experience a mini ice age.

One does not have to believe that there is an ice age coming, but there is enough scientific evidence disputing the climate change theory to throw it into doubt. Anybody saying climate change is settled science is either lying, trying to redistribute income internationally, or has a financial interest in closing off the debate.

Alarmists Already Blaming Sunday's Tornadoes on Warming (They Used To Blame Cooling)

Yesterday twitter was full of climate alarmists rushing to blame the horrible rash of tornadoes hitting the middle of America on climate change, such as this one from the head of Columbia's global warming unit, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs:
As the head of Columbia's Earth Institute, that tweet is part of Sach's job,  Twitchy did a great job of keeping track of other alarmists'.

But you gotta love these progressives, they change their claims more often than I change my underwear as long as it brings about global redistribution of income. Back in 1975  “the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded”, killed “more than 300 people”, this according to Newsweek was among “the ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically”.

That article was published on April 28, 1975, when Newsweek listed the US tornado disaster of 1974 as one of the harbingers of disastrous global cooling, heralding the approach of a new ice age.

On the other side of NY City and a year earlier the dean of newsweeklies, Time Magazine wrote about the coming ice age on June 24, 1974 the magazine  reported:
Scientists have found other indications of global cooling. For one thing there has been a noticeable expansion of the great belt of dry, high-altitude polar winds — the so-called circumpolar vortex—that sweep from west to east around the top and bottom of the world. Indeed it is the widening of this cap of cold air that is the immediate cause of Africa's drought. By blocking moisture-bearing equatorial winds and preventing them from bringing rainfall to the parched sub-Sahara region, as well as other drought-ridden areas stretching all the way from Central America to the Middle East and India, the polar winds have in effect caused the Sahara and other deserts to reach farther to the south. Paradoxically, the same vortex has created quite different weather quirks in the U.S. and other temperate zones. As the winds swirl around the globe, their southerly portions undulate like the bottom of a skirt. Cold air is pulled down across the Western U.S. and warm air is swept up to the Northeast. The collision of air masses of widely differing temperatures and humidity can create violent storms—the Midwest's recent rash of disastrous tornadoes, for example.
If climate change is caused yesterday's activity, how do the global warming alarmists explain the fact that the year ending in May 2013 saw the fewest number of tornadoes in 60 years and the death tolls from the dangerous storms have dropped dramatically since 2011.

Today a day after the horrible series of tornadoes, more people like Dr. Jeffrey Sachs will crawl out from under a rock to announce it's all due to global warming.  The truth is Ice Age or Heat Wave, tornadoes or tropical storms, they are   just a part of natures ebbs and flows. The earth is more crowded than ever before- as a horrible side effect there are more people in the way of these natural events. By blaming these tornadoes on supposed global warming, the proponents of the climate change theory are no different than the ancient Mesopotamians who saw lighting come from the sky and attributed it to the stone idol in their living rooms.

NONSENSE! The Philippines Typhoon Was NOT Caused by Global Warming

The horrible typhoon that hit the Philippines has given new fodder for the climate change theorists.  Their computer models say that eventually the earth will have fewer but much more severe storms, so global warming must have cause this one. And the mainstream media has picked up their claims.

But the global warming computer models  have been proven wrong over and over, including the fact they they can't  explain why the Earth hasn't warmed for the past 16 years, or why the polar ice caps haven't melted away yet  and they predicted. The ice caps are alive, well and growing (and many scientists are predicting an Ice Age).
Brian McNoldy, a senior research associate at the University of Miami, told Climate Central that, “While Haiyan was absolutely amazing, it's not alone. It's in an elite company of a handful of other tropical cyclones scattered across the decades and across the world.”
McNoldy downplayed global warming’s role in helping to fuel Super Typhoon Haiyan, saying, “We don't get to pick and choose which storms are enhanced by a warmer climate and which ones aren't, so this was just as subject to this year's climate as the numerous others that weren't so impressive. Extremely intense tropical cyclones are rare, but have always been a part of nature — we don't need to find an excuse for them.”

Gabe Vecchi, a research oceanographer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), said that if global warming altered Haiyan, it did not do so to a significant extent. “I expect that the contribution of global warming to Haiyan's extreme intensity is likely to have been small, relative to other factors like weather fluctuations and climate variability.
Yesterday, on MSNBC's Jansing and company Byran Norcorss of the Weather Channel was asked if global warming had anything to do with Typhoon Haiyan or other recent storms. The meteorologist answered the scientific consensus was no.

Keep in mind, if global warming had caused Haiyan, Sandy and other big storms, we would have had Haiyan-like tropical storms on a regular basis for the past 16 years, because global temperatures haven't changed since the mid-late 1990s.

It's not limited to tropical storms;  the climate change hoaxers also blame tornadoes on climate change. But according to USA Today on 11/13;
The USA is enjoying its second-consecutive below-average tornado season, and one of the calmest years for tornadoes in more than two decades, according to data from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla.

"It's been a near-record quiet year, especially with respect to strong to violent tornadoes," said warning coordination meteorologist Greg Carbin of the prediction center.
They also like to blame wild fires on warming, But the number of wildfires across the US so far this year is on pace to be the lowest it has been in the past ten years and the acreage involved is at the second lowest level during that same time 10-year period.

Its been a quiet Hurricanes season. Heck even the number of hot days are down:
The five summers with the highest number of 100 degree days across the US are as follows: 1936, 1934, 1954, 1980 and 1930. In addition to the vast reduction in 100 degree days across the US this year, the number of high temperature records (ie hi max and hi min records) is way down compared to a year ago with 22,965 records this year as compared with 56,885 at this same time last year.
If the climate theorists had their way, global warming would be accepted as the reason  the NY Jets haven't been in the Superbowl since 1969.

According to the Washington Post, if the horrific death toll estimate of 10,000 holds up, it wouldn’t even put Haiyan in the top 35 deadliest tropical cyclones on record. And storm severity is only one reason for the high death toll:
The story behind the destructiveness of Haiyan rings true of most powerful cyclones that occur in this region of the world: 33 of the 35 deadliest tropical cyclones on record have occurred in southern or southeastern Asia – due to a confluence of meteorology, geography, population density, poverty and government.
The truth is Typhoon Haiyan is a horrible tragedy but it is not a unique one. The two deadliest cyclones of the 20th century occurred during the 1970′s, and were blamed by climatologists on global cooling at the time.

One of Germany's leading meteorologists Dominik Jung slammed the global warming theorists reaction to Typhoon Haiyan:
For many ‘climate expert’ this recent event is a feeding frenzy that allows them to pound the drums of ‘evil climate change’. And here not a single one of these ladies and gentlemen are able to show that such storms never existed over the past hundreds of years, let alone that this storm is connected to a man-made climate change.
The climate change theorists would be more successful in saving lives if they stopped wasting time pushing the global warming hoax, and worked on raising money help the people in the Philippines whose lives were destroyed by the horrible typhoon.

Another Scientist Warns An Ice Age Is Coming

In today's Philadelphia Enquirer Frank Wilson discusses the New Book by Geologist E. Kirsten Peters, “The Whole Story of Climate: What Science Reveals About the Nature of Endless Change” According to Peters
Natural climate change is frequent, often extreme, and sometimes rapid. Industrial CO2 is a real problem just as you have heard, but it’s only a fragment of the whole story of climate. In other words, I’m not a global warming denier – I want to add to the discussion of climate change from the point of view of geology and natural change. What may matter most is not our carbon policies, but whether we invest in adaptive strategies that can serve us well when change inevitably arrives on our doorstep.
Or as Wilson describes it
Climate science, with its computer models, is a Johnny-come-lately to the narrative. Not so geology. “For almost 200 years,” Peters writes, “geologists have studied the basic evidence of how climate has changed on our planet.” They work not with computer models but with “direct physical evidence left in the muck and rocks.”

Space constraints preclude any detailed summary of Peters’s accessible but jam-packed little book. But some take-aways can be noted.

The first thing to note, though, is that we could be long overdue for a cold spell. In recent geologic history, which stretches back a couple of million years — geologists have an expansive view of time — Earth’s climate has been characterized by long periods of bitter cold punctuated by brief episodes of warmth. “The cycle,” Peters notes, “is always a long period of cold followed by a much shorter period of warmth.” Specifically, the cold intervals last about 100,000 years, and the warm ones about 10,000. The period we are living in, called the Holocene, began 11,700 years ago, which makes it “no different at all from other brief, warm intervals in the Pleistocene,” the previous epoch that lasted those couple of million years.

Peters uses the analogy of a football field to help readers visualize all this. We in the Holocene are positioned at the edge of one of the end zones. The cold periods average about 5.5 yards, the warm ones about half a yard.

Another point Peters is at pains to emphasize is that climate change can be quite abrupt. Toward the end of the Pleistocene Epoch, northern Europe experienced a period of warming called the Allerod Oscillation that lasted about 1,000 years. The pollen record indicates that the “shift to renewed bitter cold took place very rapidly, certainly within a single human lifetime.”
Peters agrees with what I learned in the Earth Science class I took as a freshman in college during the 1970s. The Professor taught us that because of historic global cycles most scientists believed the Earth was likely heading for a cooling period, possibly even an ice age.

Today despite what the preachers of Global Warming insist, there is is no consensus of scientists about global warming.

For more about the growing number of scientists warning that the earth was heading toward an ice age (something that made Al Gore very sad), click here.

Europe's Green Energy Subsidies Are Threatening The EU's Economic Stability

The CEOs of Europe’s largest energy companies, who produce almost half of Europe’s electricity warn that Europe's ability to generate electricity is in danger and it all stems from the ever-increasing subsidies  given to renewable energy projects.

Those energy CEOs joined voices calling for an end to subsidies for wind and solar power, saying the subsidies have led to skyrocketing electricity bills for residences and businesses, and even risk causing continent-wide blackouts.

The companies unanimously pointed the finger at European governments’ poorly thought-out decision at the turn of the millennium to promote renewable energy by any means.
The plan seemed like a good one in the late 1990s as a way to reverse Europe’s reliance on imported fossil fuels, particularly from Russia and the Middle East. But it seems the execution hasn’t matched the good intentions, and the authors of the legislations didn’t understand the markets.

“The importance of renewables has become a threat to the continent’s supply safety,” warned senior global energy analyst, Colette Lewiner, referring to a recent report by a Europe energy firm, Capgemini.

“We’ve failed on all accounts: Europe is threatened by a blackout like in New York a few years ago, prices are shooting up higher, and our carbon emissions keep increasing,” said GDF Suez CEO Gérard Mestrallet ahead of the news conference.

Under these subsidy programs, wind and solar power producers get priority access to the grid and are guaranteed high prices.
Of course it is the customer who has to pick up the difference.

The subsidies enticed enough investors into wind and solar that Germany now has almost 60,000 MWs of wind and solar capacity, or about 25% of that nation’s total capacity.
That may make the global warming enthusiasts happy but not those responsible ensuring everyone has electricity.
The problems began when the global economic meltdown occurred in 2008. Demand for electricity fell throughout Europe, as it did in America, which deflated wholesale electricity prices. However, investors kept plowing money into new wind and solar power because of the guaranteed prices for renewable energy.

Meanwhile, electricity prices have been rising in Europe since 2008, just under 20% for households and just over 20% for businesses, according to Eurostat.

Since renewable capacity kept rising and was forced to be taken, utilities across Europe began closing fossil-fuel power plants that were now less profitable because of the subsidies, including over 50 GWs of gas-fired plants, Mr. Mestrallet said.
Without the Gas plants to back up the renewables, electricity generation can be cut off or atleast slowed by dramatic weather effects, like an unusually cold winter when wind and solar can’t produce much.

Eventually those higher natural gas prices in Europe will effect the US
Within five years, the U.S. will be the major player in the world gas market. Of course, gas prices will double or triple in the U.S. because, like oil, the price will now be set by the global market, not by the U.S. market. And like oil, it doesn’t matter how much you produce in your own country, you pay the global price. Period. Just ask Norway.
All this is happening while even the global warming theory's proponents admit there hasn't been climate change for 15 years. In fact there are many scientists now predicting the earth is heading for an ice age

CLIMATE COVER-UP:UN IPCC Dismisses Warming Stoppage Because of Pressure From US/Other Govts

The IPCC report on Climate Change report discusses the rapid rise of surface temperatures during the 1970s but ignores the fact that the planet has largely stopped warming over the past 15 years.  While the initial drafts mentioned that none of the scientific models can explain the decade and a half stop in warming they were taken out of the final report.  Documents obtained by the AP indicate the truth may have been removed from the UN Report because of pressure from government's around the world, including the Obama administration. These governments would rather transmit global warming orthodoxy than transmit what is really happening to the world-wide climate.
Global surface temperatures rose rapidly during the 70s, but have been relatively flat over the past decade and a half, rising only 0.05 degrees Celsius (0.09 degrees Fahrenheit) per decade according to data from the U.K.’s weather-watching Met Office a trend current models of the world’s climate have been unable to predict. A draft of the report leaked in early September acknowledged that trend and put it bluntly: We simply can’t explain it.

“Models do not generally reproduce the observed reduction in surface warming trend over the last 10–15 years.”

But a final version of the report released Friday morning by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) strips out the failure of models and explains away the downward trend.

'There may also be ... an overestimate of the response to increasing greenhouse gas and other anthropogenic forcing.'
The AP obtained notes to the original draft sent to the IPCC by several governments which reviewed the original draft. These governments objected to the way the 15 year warming hiatus  was tackled:
Germany called for the reference to the slowdown to be deleted, saying a time span of 10-15 years was misleading in the context of climate change, which is measured over decades and centuries.

The U.S. also urged the authors to include the "leading hypothesis" that the reduction in warming is linked to more heat being transferred to the deep ocean.

Belgium objected to using 1998 as a starting year for any statistics. That year was exceptionally warm, so any graph showing global temperatures starting with 1998 looks flat, because most years since have been cooler. Using 1999 or 2000 as a starting year would yield a more upward-pointing curve.

Hungary worried the report would provide ammunition for skeptics.
The report also ignores the fact the Arctic Ice cap grew by 60% this past year, that very day for the last 23 months, Antarctic sea ice area has been above normal, and more scientists are warning of the coming ice age.

The truth is the UN report released Friday is full of half truths and lies with the ultimate purpose of perpetuating the global warming hoax. Or as the top climate scientist at MIT told Mark Morano of Climate Depot:
‘The latest IPCC report has truly sunk to level of hilarious incoherence’ — ‘It is quite amazing to see the contortions the IPCC has to go through in order to keep the international climate agenda going’
What is not hilarious is what their agenda is going to do to jobs and industry in the United States and across the world.

JEWISH MOTHER SWEATER ALERT!!! Both Ice Caps Showing Rapid Growth-Experts Warn of Ice Age

Last month we reported the growing number of scientists warning that the earth was heading toward an ice age (something that made Al Gore very sad). Today's UK Daily Mail gives more evidence that would have made my mother, of blessed memory issue a major Jewish Mother Sweater Alert because the Arctic Ice cap grew by 60% this past year and more scientists are warning of the coming ice age.

Every autumn as the weather cools, the Ice Cap begins to freeze and expand this year, before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores. The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year.

It looks as if the gloom  and doom predicted by the Global Warming Hoaxers forgot to happen. Only six years ago, the BBC reported that the Arctic would be ice-free in summer by 2013, citing a scientist in the US who claimed this was a ‘conservative’ forecast.

The BBC’s 2007 report quoted scientist Professor Wieslaw Maslowski, who based his views on super-computer models and the fact that ‘we use a high-resolution regional model for the Arctic Ocean and sea ice’.
He was confident his results were ‘much more realistic’ than other projections, which ‘underestimate the amount of heat delivered to the sea ice’. Also quoted was Cambridge University expert

Professor Peter Wadhams. He backed Professor Maslowski, saying his model was ‘more efficient’ than others because it ‘takes account of processes that happen internally in the ice’.
The ice cap growth along with the 15 year pause in global warming has caused dissension within the IPCC, the UN's climate change organization.
Leaked documents show that governments which support and finance the IPCC are demanding more than 1,500 changes to the report’s ‘summary for policymakers’. They say its current draft does not properly explain the pause.

At the heart of the row lie two questions: the extent to which temperatures will rise with carbon dioxide levels, as well as how much of the warming over the past 150 years – so far, just 0.8C – is down to human greenhouse gas emissions and how much is due to natural variability.

In its draft report, the IPCC says it is ‘95 per cent confident’ that global warming has been caused by humans – up from 90 per cent in 2007.

This claim is already hotly disputed. US climate expert Professor Judith Curry said last night: ‘In fact, the uncertainty is getting bigger. It’s now clear the models are way too sensitive to carbon dioxide. I cannot see any basis for the IPCC increasing its confidence level.’
She pointed to long-term cycles in ocean temperature, which have a huge influence on climate and suggest the world may be approaching a period similar to that from 1965 to 1975, when there was a clear cooling trend. This led some scientists at the time to forecast an imminent ice age.

Professor Anastasios Tsonis, of the University of Wisconsin, was one of the first to investigate the ocean cycles. He said: ‘We are already in a cooling trend, which I think will continue for the next 15 years at least. There is no doubt the warming of the 1980s and 1990s has stopped.
Anybody who says there is a scientific consensus regarding global warming is either lying, trying to redistribute income internationally, have a business investment in "green energy-related products, or just plain stupid!
Yet there is mounting evidence that Arctic ice levels are cyclical. Data uncovered by climate historians show that there was a massive melt in the 1920s and 1930s, followed by intense re-freezes that ended only in 1979 – the year the IPCC says that shrinking began.
Taking Earth Science as a freshman in college during the 1970s, we were taught that because of historic global cycles most scientists believed the Earth was likely heading for a cooling period, possibly even an ice age. Many scientists today believe that the lack of solar activity means what the Earth Science professor taught is coming to fruition.

On the other side of the earth, Steven Goddard is reporting that every day for the last 23 months, Antarctic sea ice area has been above normal. It is currently 13,100 Manhattans above normal.

The growth of both Ice Caps might be the start of a consensus about a coming Ice Age.

In the meantime maybe you should buy warm gloves and a hat with that new winter coat, it will make your mother happy.

JEWISH MOTHER SWEATER ALERT!!! Science Indicates Earth is Heading Toward an ICE AGE

If my Mom of blessed memory were still alive, she would tell me to run out the the store to purchase heavy sweaters and a extra warm winter coat. In fact after reading this story she would issue a major Jewish Mother Sweater Alert all because there is new evidence that the Earth may be heading toward an ice age (please stop crying Mr. Gore).

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) published its “State of the Climate in 2012” report, saying that “worldwide, 2012 was among the 10 warmest years on record.” Of course it skips the part about 2012 being one of the coldest years of the past decade “fails to according to an analysis by climate blogger Pierre Gosselin (and reported by CNS News)
“To no one’s surprise, the report gives the reader the impression that warming is galloping ahead out of control,” writes Gosselin. “But their data shows just the opposite.”

Although the NOAA report noted that in 2012, “the Arctic continues to warm” with “sea ice reaching record lows,” it also stated that the Antarctica sea ice “reached a record high of 7.51 million square miles” on Sept. 26, 2012.

And the latest figures for this year show that there’s been a slowdown of melting in the Arctic this summer as well, with temperatures at the North Pole well below normal for this time of year. Meteorologist Joe Bastardi calls it “the coldest ever recorded.”
NOAA also reported record or near record colds for the lower that the lower strastosphere (about six to ten miles above the Earth’s surface) even though the concentration of greenhouse gases, continued to increase.

"Even with all this data manipulation, the trend is down as shown by this Hadley global plot," writes Joseph D'Aleo, former director of meteorology at The Weather Channel.
"Last year was the 8th warmest but 7th coldest since 1998. They explain it away with the predominance of La Ninas or a solar blip, but say it was the warmest decade nonetheless, so stop questioning us," he said.
Last week Irish solar expert Ian Elliott echoed other recent reports predicting that lower levels of sunspot activity over the next few years “indicates that we may be on the path to a new little ice age.”
It is the smallest solar maximum we have seen in 100 years,” said Dr David Hathaway of Nasa. We are currently in solar cycle number 24 which is about half as active as cycle 23, but cycle 25 is likely to be smaller again due to changes in the magnetic flux on the sun’s surface,” he said.

...The fall-off in sunspot activity still has the potential to affect our weather for the worse, Dr Elliott said. Research by Prof Mike Lockwood at the University of Reading showed how low solar activity could alter the position of the jet stream over the north Atlantic, causing severe cold during winter months. This was likely the cause of the very cold and snowy winters during 2009 and 2010, Dr Elliott said.

“It all points to perhaps another little ice age,” he said. “It seems likely we are going to enter a period of very low solar activity and could mean we are in for very cold winters.”
Phil Chapman a geophysicist and astronautical engineer and a NASA astronaut, agrees with Elliot
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.
The point is anybody who says there is a scientific consensus regarding global warming is either lying, trying to redistribute income internationally, have a business investment in "green energy-related products, or just plain stupid!

One does not have to believe that there is an ice age coming, but there is enough scientific evidence disputing the Global Warming theory to throw it into doubt. Especially when you consider even the climate change gurus acknowledge it hasn't gotten warmer for a decade and a half and the doom/gloom predictions of the last twenty years have turned out to be false.

Heck we might be at the start of a building consensus about the coming Ice Age (maybe you should buy warm gloves with that new winter coat).

Mayor Bloomberg Pledges $20 Billion NYC Doesn't Have To Address Global Warming Which Isn't Happening

Build a Boat! It's Gonna Start Flooding! (sometime soon). According to Mommy Mayor Bloomberg NYC is about to be flooded because of global warming, so he's announced a $20 billion dollar plan to prevent the big apple from becoming the worlds largest bobbing for apples game.  Its a reasonable plan with only two problems, the City doesn't have that kind of money and the sea level isn't rising, in fact temperatures haven't risen in 15+ years.

Mayor Bloomberg unveiled a $20 billion plan to defend New York City from what he claim will be the ravages of global warming in the coming decades. His  plan will cost the average New York City household nearly $3,000.
Bloomberg’s 430-page plan, Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency, includes approximately 250 recommendations ranging from new floodwalls and storm barriers to upgrades in the city’s power and telecommunications infrastructure. The plan also calls for $1.2 billion in loans and grants to help owners make buildings more resilient to floods and proposes changes in the city’s building code.
New York has always had to deal with the threat of flooding. Hurricanes and severe tropical storms have struck the area periodically since the founding of New Amsterdam (today’s New York) in 1624.

Bloomberg announced the plan by claiming New Yorkers could either “do nothing and expose ourselves to an increasing frequency of Sandy-like storms” or “make the investments necessary to build a stronger, more resilient New York.”
Bloomberg is correct about the frequency of bad hurricanes, there was Hurricane Donna in 1960 (a category 2), Hurricane Gloria in 1985, Irene in 2011 and Sandy in 2012.  See--a-15-year-gap followed by a 26-year gap and a 1-year gap (there were other storms but these were the bad ones).  Come on Mayor! Four bad hurricanes in 52 years and you are freaking out!
“I have trouble seeing exactly how spending $20 billion—that’s billion with a ‘b’—will prevent bad weather or climate,” said climate scientist Willie Soon. “In general, to be more prepared is a good thing. But preparing, as New York City is apparently doing, using the faulty climate modeling scenarios offered by the UN IPCC [United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] is a serious distortion of basic science.”
As far as sea levels---that's also nonsense. The President forgot  ever since the last ice-age 10,000 years ago, sea levels have been rising. So unless the Neanderthals were imitating Al Gore and flying private jets and driving gas guzzlers, rising sea levels are not caused by man but by natural phenomena.

The climate change hoaxers use computer models to predict that sea levels would rise anywhere from 15 inches to 20 feet because of global warming in the 21st century (the consensus number is closer to 3 feet).

But Mother Nature was never good at computer science.  Satellite data proved that the first decade of the 21st century sea level grew by only 0.83 inches (a pace of just 8 inches for the entire century). What's even worse (for the global warming hoaxers) there has been no rise since 2006.  Just like there has been no warming since 1998.

Gotta feel bad for the Mayor, he must be having some pretty bad nightmares to believe the City that never sleeps is going to become the city that can't keep its head above the water. Maybe he should stop having spicy food before he goes to sleep.  Perhaps instead he could relax with a nice 44 ounce Slurpee.

NY Times: It's Not Getting Warmer, We Don't Know Why, But We SWEAR It's Going to Get Warmer Soon

The NY Times has finally woken up and smelled the coffee (but as it turns out it's iced coffee). The Times science writers have finally figured out that global temperatures plateaued about 15 years ago agreeing with the Met office in the UK which is one of the key proponents of the Climate Change hoax who said global warming stopped over 15 years ago, and the  BBC which echoed that claim.

The last time the temperature rose, Al Gore's Chakra was working for Bill Clinton...that was way before his Oscar-winning movie and his investment company which "coincidentally" is poised to make billions of dollars off of the global warming scare.

That's the good news.  The bad news is (according to the climate change hoaxers) It's going to start getting warmer again, one day --they promise-- cross their hearts hope to die stick a needle in their eye, and this time they really truly mean it!
The slowdown is a bit of a mystery to climate scientists. True, the basic theory that predicts a warming of the planet in response to human emissions does not suggest that warming should be smooth and continuous. To the contrary, in a climate system still dominated by natural variability, there is every reason to think the warming will proceed in fits and starts.

But given how much is riding on the scientific forecast, the practitioners of climate science would like to understand exactly what is going on. They admit that they do not, even though some potential mechanisms of the slowdown have been suggested. The situation highlights important gaps in our knowledge of the climate system, some of which cannot be closed until we get better measurements from high in space and from deep in the ocean.
As you might imagine, those dismissive of climate-change concerns have made much of this warming plateau. They typically argue that “global warming stopped 15 years ago” or some similar statement, and then assert that this disproves the whole notion that greenhouse gases are causing warming.

Rarely do they mention that most of the warmest years in the historical record have occurred recently. Moreover, their claim depends on careful selection of the starting and ending points. The starting point is almost always 1998, a particularly warm year because of a strong El Niño weather pattern.

Actually some (like me) like to point to the medieval warming period which was warmer than it is today and there was little CO2 going into the atmosphere compared to modern times.
Scientists and statisticians reject this sort of selective use of numbers, and when they calculate the long-term temperature trends for the earth, they conclude that it continues to warm through time. Despite the recent lull, it is an open question whether the pace of that warming has undergone any lasting shift.
Dr Don Easterbrook, who has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific studies, warns that a destructive world-wide climate change us upon us. Easterbrook says we should expect global cooling for the next 2-3 decades that will be far more damaging than global warming would have been. He bases his prediction on looking at temperature changes ever the past 500 years.

The data reflects that over the past 500 years there has been a pattern of short-lived warming and cooling episodes none of which could have been caused by changes in atmospheric CO2. The record show a regular pattern of alternate warming and cooling with a 25-30 year period for the past 500 years.

Hold on to  your winter coats just a bit longer Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov from the St. Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory agrees. The good Doctor says we are heading toward a long period of climate change, and not the kind that Al Gore is getting rich from.

German meteorologists say that the start of 2013 is now the coldest in 208 years, the UK shudders under temperatures 5 to 10 degrees Celsius below normal levels for this time of year and  Dr Abdussamatov is showing it is proof that we are heading for a "Mini Ice Age."

But the NY Times is convinced that it is pollution slowing down their global warming trend:
Now, here is a crucial piece of background: It turns out we had an earlier plateau in global warming, from roughly the 1950s to the 1970s, and scientists do not fully understand that one either. A lot of evidence suggests that sunlight-blocking pollution from dirty factories may have played a role, as did natural variability in ocean circulation. The pollution was ultimately reduced by stronger clean-air laws in the West.
Today, factory pollution from China and other developing countries could be playing a similar role in blocking some sunlight. We will not know for sure until we send up satellites that can make better measurements of particles in the air.

What happened when the mid-20th-century lull came to an end? You guessed it: an extremely rapid warming of the planet.
There are those adherents of the Church of Global Warming who are living in a cabin in the middle of a forest  waiting for the end. They believe that we are close to the warming tipping point and with it; fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave!  Human sacrifice, TV remotes vanishing, dogs and cats living together.. mass hysteria!

For those people, I have good news, you can take off the purple sneakers and come out. To paraphrase "Honest Abe," One Score of years ago our fathers looked at the thermometer and the temperature was the same as it was today.

The truth is  man-made computer models with elements created by man and input from man  are not matching real-life climate with elements created by God. Anyone surprised? But these scientists have invested so much time and effort into their computer models they refuse to acknowledge that perhaps those computer programs are wrong--science is not just about computer models its about observation, but the warming hoaxers refuse to admit that the climate outside isn't agreeing with their computers...and who is the skeptic?

Bill Nye Is Still The Weather Idiot Guy

Bill Nye is a glutton for punishment. After getting destroyed by Climate Depot's Marc Morano during a discussion about global warming on the Piers Morgan show in January he was eviscerated by Washington Post's Chief Meteorologist, Jason Samenow a month later
Nye used to (and may still have) a great kids show introducing young children to the basic concepts of science.  Perhaps he should stick to the kids because this week he proved again that he is not ready to play with the adults.

Yesterday as Oklahoma City was digging their dead out of the rubble the sensitive Nye tweeted:

Oklahoma City was hit hard again. Has anyone asked Oklahoma Senator Inhofe about the three large storms in the [past] 14 years?
— Bill Nye (@TheScienceGuy) May 21, 2013
Nye openly discussed the importance of investigating climate change as the recent tornado system developed across Oklahoma. In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Nye said that tornadoes were driven by heat, which increases the chances of more dangerous storms.
“You’ve got to figure that if there’s more heat driving the storm then there’s going to be more tornadoes,” Nye told Morgan.
There are only a few scientific issues with Nye's claim.

Back in October 2012 the Met office in the UK which is one of the key proponents of the Climate Change hoax said global warming stopped over 15 years ago. That is that the average temperature between 1997 and August 2012 did not rise at all (there have other reports since echoing that claim).

To put this no warming period in perspective, before 1980 temperatures were stable or even declining. Scientists were predicting another ice age. That was followed by a period of warming from 1980-1996. Now the world-wide temperatures have stabilized for as long a period as the warming which, when looked at objectively may mean the warming period was simply an aberration.

Then there is the fact that before this week-long horrible period of tornado-generating storms  we had been flirting with records for the lowest number of tornadoes and tornado fatalities. Logic would dictate if warming cause the Oklahoma storms the entire season would be full of violent tornado activity.

Of course there is also what we pointed out yesterday that back in the mid 70s scientists were claiming that global cooling caused the heavy tornado activity.

So in the end Bill Nye the Weather Idiot Guy is a hypocrite just like most global warming moonbats.  Every time there is a series of blizzards or an extra-cold winter they rush to remind people that there is a difference between weather and climate, but the first time there are horrible storms  such as Hurricane Sandy or this week in Oklahoma City they rush to say its climate change not weather.

Nye should be rushing to raise money to help the victims of this weeks tornadoes but instead he is rushing to make a claim the storm was created by climate change which ignores science.  Perhaps is Bow Tie is on a bit too tight.

In the 1970s Newsweek AND Time Magazines Blamed Tornadoes On Global COOLING

Last night Senator Sheldon Whitehouse blamed the horrible Oklahoma tornadoes on Global Warming and chastise the GOP for not believing in the global warming hoax.
“So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care if we Republicans run off the climate cliff like a bunch of proverbial lemmings and disgrace ourselves? I’ll tell you why. We’re stuck in this together. We are stuck in this together. When cyclones tear up Oklahoma and hurricanes swamp Alabama and wildfires scorch Texas, you come to us, the rest of the country, for billions of dollars to recover. And the damage that your polluters and deniers are doing doesn’t just hit Oklahoma and Alabama and Texas. It hits Rhode Island with floods and storms. It hits Oregon with acidified seas, it hits Montana with dying forests. So, like it or not, we’re in this together.”
You gotta love these progressives they change their claims more often than I change my underwear as long as it brings about global redistribution of income. Back in 1975  “the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded”, killed “more than 300 people”, this according to Newsweek was among “the ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically”.

But that article was published on April 28, 1975, when Newsweek listed the US tornado disaster of 1974 as one of the harbingers of disastrous global cooling, heralding the approach of a new ice age.

Today a day after the horrible storm and with more storms predicted for this afternoon, more people like Senator Whitehouse will crawl out from under a rock to announce it's all due to global warming. On the bright side I suppose its better than blaming George Bush. However the truth is Ice Age or Heat Wave, tornadoes or not it is sadly just a part of natures ebbs and flows. The earth is more crowded than ever before- as a horrible side effect there are more people in the way of these natural events. By blaming these tornadoes on supposed global warming, these proponents of the man-made heatwave theory are no different than the ancient Mesopotamians who saw lighting come from the sky and attributed it to the stone idol in their living rooms.

BBC: Global Warming Stopped 15 Years Ago (But It's Gonna Start Again---They Pinky Swear!)

The good news is the earth hasn't gotten warmer for 15 years. The bad news is (according to the climate change hoaxers) It's going to start getting warmer again, one day --they promise-- cross their hearts hope to die stick a needle in their eye, this time they really mean it!

Writing in Nature Geoscience, researchers say the 15-year hiatus will reduce predicted warming in the coming decades. But (even though they can't explain why it stopped "getting warm") long-term, the expected temperature rises will not alter significantly.

The most extreme projections are looking less likely than before” according Dr Alexander Otto University of Oxford.  Which means those of us who live in New York and expect it to be under water can put away the scuba gear.

According to these researchers:
The slowdown in the expected rate of global warming has been studied for several years now. Earlier this year, the UK Met Office lowered their five-year temperature forecast.

But this new paper gives the clearest picture yet of how any slowdown is likely to affect temperatures in both the short-term and long-term.

An international team of researchers looked at how the last decade would impact long-term, equilibrium climate sensitivity and the shorter term climate response.Transient nature

Climate sensitivity looks to see what would happen if we doubled concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere and let the Earth's oceans and ice sheets respond to it over several thousand years.

Transient climate response is much shorter term calculation again based on a doubling of CO2.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reported in 2007 that the short-term temperature rise would most likely be 1-3C (1.8-5.4F).

But in this new analysis, by only including the temperatures from the last decade, the projected range would be 0.9-2.0C.
The report suggests that warming in the near term will be less than forecast

"The hottest of the models in the medium-term, they are actually looking less likely or inconsistent with the data from the last decade alone," said Dr Alexander Otto from the University of Oxford.

"The most extreme projections are looking less likely than before."

The authors calculate that over the coming decades global average temperatures will warm about 20% more slowly than expected.
This is my favorite part:
"We would expect a single decade to jump around a bit but the overall trend is independent of it, and people should be exactly as concerned as before about what climate change is doing," said Dr Otto.

Is there any succour in these findings for climate sceptics who say the slowdown over the past 14 years means the global warming is not real?

"None. No comfort whatsoever," he said.
This folks is what happens when you create computer models to prove what you want them to prove.  The Global Warming Hoaxers finally looked out the window and realize that it hasn't gotten warmer since Monica Lewinsky was ruining a good Cuban cigar. They have no real idea why it stopped, but they promise it will start again soon!  They Swear! No Really, they mean it!

The problem is they are they are using man-made models and "man" even scientists do not know everything about the way this world works.

In 1975, when I took Earth Science as a freshman in college we learned that the earth was long overdue for another ice age.  It took 20 years for me to realize they weren't talking about the series of animated children's movies.

These same global warming scientists cannot explain why it was warmer in the medieval period, centuries before the industrial revolution, than it is today.

The answer is easy,  Earth has natural cycles of warmth and cold.  Some scientists even believe that when the cycles become short and we fluctuate between short periods warm and cold it means that an ice age is approaching.

According to data from Ice cores, ocean sediment cores, the geologic record, and studies of ancient plant and animal populations there is regular pattern of Ice Ages which last about 100,000 years, separated by a 12,000 year interglacial period.

Right Now we are nearing the end of the Interglacial Period meaning that if you don't have a good winter coat may be time to buy one. But even more important is that the Hoaxers may have it backwards because some scientists believe the CO2 isn't causing the warming instead the natural cyclic increase in global temperature is causing global CO2 to rise.

The only thing we can prove today is that temperatures are NOT going up--the climate change theorists don't know why but are sure it is going to begin getting hotter again soon. They can't explain why it stops but they know the computer programs they created indicate that the stop is temporary (because they say it's so). Something is wrong with warming models that predict warming in a cooling world.
Allow me to suggest that these scientists put away the computers and look at their windows, because there is nothing to indicate the warming trend will re-start, or that it won't start getting cold real fast. After all despite their screams The Arctic Ice Cap has been GROWING.

There is an old proverb my Mother of blessed memory, used to say "Man plans and God laughs." Such is with these global warming hoaxers, they create brilliant computer models but they don't have all the data to make them accurate, so they make them say what they want them to say.

Somewhere up there, the creator of this world may be having a good chuckle.
