The Muslim Brotherhood is Hamas in Sheep's Clothing

The Muslim Brotherhood is a world-wide Islamist movement dedicated to the credo: "G-d is our objective, the Quran is our Constitution, the Prophet is our leader, struggle is our way, and death for the sake of God is the highest of our aspirations." As stated on its charter and its website, the Muslim Brotherhood seeks to install a just Islamic empire and a Caliphate across the Muslim world, through stages designed to "Islamicize" targeted Muslim majority nations by all lawful means available."

This movement was founded in Egypt almost 80 years ago, this movement has long been a thorn in the side of Egyptian Government, especially since the Sadat came went Jerusalem tension have been rising. Recently things have gotten even worse. Originally a peaceful movement, the brotherhood has been accused of forming a militia and threatening the security of Egypt. In Egypt the Brotherhood seeks the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak's regime.

Hamas was founded in 1987 as a military offshoot of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood. Although there are some tactical differences between the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas – the Brotherhood SAYS it is committed to a non-violent, reformist approach to Islamic takeover (except in the cases of Israel and Syria) There is concern about the growing level of cooperation between the Brotherhood and Hamas.

A few months ago Reuven Erlich, director of the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at Israel's Center for Special Studies captured Hamas posters and material from the West Bank and Gaza which list Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna as one of the most important figures to Hamas. "We found al-Banna's face all over Hamas material. He is an important part of Hamas culture and ideology and is held by them in the highest regard," (WND)

Palestinian security sources close to Hamas told (WND) Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leader Mahdi Akif has been serving as a replacement Hamas spiritual leader ever since Israel assassinated former spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin in March 2004. "Whenever there is an organizational spiritual issue, Hamas takes it to Akif," said the Palestinian source. "He gave them the blessing to run in the elections and was instrumental in using Islamic tradition to deduce it was OK to join the government. The Brotherhood in essence is helping run Hamas. And Akif is the most important religious personality in the Hamas leadership right now."

With each passing day, Egypt is growing more concerned about the growth of this Islamic group in their country. Today's MEMRI has another report.

Warnings in the Egyptian Press: The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt Is Going the Way of Hamas in Gaza

In the wake of Hamas' takeover of Gaza, some in the Egyptian press have expressed fears that the Muslim Brotherhood may seize power in Egypt. They expressed concern at the similarities between Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, and said that lessons should be learned from the Palestinian experience in Gaza.

The following are excerpts of articles from the Egyptian press:

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is Trying to Reproduce Hamas' Experience in Gaza

Tariq Hasan, a columnist for the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, wrote: "In Egypt there are those who are trying to reproduce what Hamas did in Gaza… For anyone who has the slightest doubt about this and wants proof, it is sufficient to consider statements by Brotherhood representatives in parliament… They said that Egypt waved the Zionist flag, despite the people's opposition to this. This means that Egypt, like the Palestinian Authority, deserves that a revolution should take place in it.

"The Brotherhood, like Hamas, does not recognize the legitimacy of the parliament that ratified the peace treaty with Israel, nor the legitimacy of the state that ratified these agreements, since [in its view] it is a traitorous state that works for foreign interests and that does not represent its people. From these statements we understand that the Hamas problem is not [limited to] just Gaza, but it is also in Egypt, and that the Brotherhood holds the same positions and uses the same ideas and statements with which Hamas conducted a putsch against the [legitimate] government, and through which it declared Gaza a rebel region under its rule.

"Here in Egypt the Brotherhood brought out the masked militias in Al-Azhar University, and there in Gaza Hamas put them to use. Here they changed the Egyptian flag and removed the eagle of the Republic from it, and there they took down the Palestinian flag and waved the green flag of Hamas. What can we expect?...

"In light of this severe threat, it is not enough for us to say to people 'look at what Hamas did in Gaza' in order to warn them about the Brotherhood in Egypt. We must learn the lessons without delay.

"Hamas won the game it was playing, and the Brotherhood is doing the [same] thing. There, there was a government that allowed them to take part in elections without their recognizing the legitimacy of that Authority [i.e. the PA] and without their being made to accept the state's constitution and its laws. Hamas used the elections and democracy as an instrument [in order to take power], and then they turned the matter over to the armed militias in order to conduct a putsch against everyone.

"Here, there are [Muslim] Brothers who do not recognize the legitimacy of the state and oppose the constitution and the law, and despite this, we find people who say that [the Brotherhood] represents them and speaks in their name in parliament… Whoever ignores this [matter] will bring us into the gates of hell that we saw in Gaza…" [1]

The Egyptian People Feel There is a Danger From Within

Chairman of the executive council of the Egyptian weekly Roz Al-Yousef, Karam Gabar, wrote in his column: "Hamas is the Brotherhood of Palestine - the Palestine branch [of the Brotherhood]. They hold a place at the top of the list of members of the international organization of the banned group [i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood]. This means that this is a worldwide movement that does not recognize national identity, the flag, or the anthem. They do not recognize a homeland that must be defended and for which one must give one's life. The homeland for them includes any plot of land on Earth on which the flag of the Brotherhood may be flown… Hamas is the same thing. Whoever does not share their faith is [considered] outside of Islam, and he is treated like one of the infidels…

"For Hamas and the Brotherhood, democracy is just dancing with Satan. The people who harbor the most enmity for democracy are those same groups who think that they have a divine mandate to rule and to implement the shari'a they see fit, and not Allah's shari'a. Democracy for them is just a means to take power; afterwards, they whip democracy with lashes and behead it with the sword… No one can raise their head and speak up without becoming an infidel who must be punished. Their democracy is worse than dictatorship…

"In the history of Hamas and the banned [Muslim Brotherhood] there are incidents that are blacker than black: murders, torture… Hamas and the banned [Muslim Brotherhood] have no written law, [and both movements] do not recognize the this-worldly judicial system or secular judges.

"Their judicial system is speedy, and it has a special law [taken] from the worst exegetical texts from the days of the ridda, [2] separatism, and darkness. The end of [their trials] - which last no longer than a few minutes - is swords, or a traitorous bullet, without fair trial. The banned [Muslim Brotherhood] recognizes the law of the country in cases where it serves their interests, and afterwards it rebels against the law, casts aspersion on the judicial system, and does not honor the legitimate [government] or the constitution…

"For the first time, the Egyptians felt dread when they saw the students of Al-Azhar University conducting combat displays with the same methods as Hamas, and in the same clothing, with the same slogans and tools. The public felt the danger growing under [its] skin, flowing in [its] blood, and touching on [its] nerves - a real danger flowing from the depths, and not something imported from abroad…" [3]

Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood are Dragging the Entire People to Suicide

In his daily column, the editor of the Egyptian daily Al-Gomhouriya Muhammad 'Ali Ibrahim wrote: "Hamas is the Palestinian side of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, which has become the heart and the brain of the world organization of the Brotherhood, and whose Supreme Guide has become the one who motivates, advises, and guides all of the Islamist currents in the world…

"I imagine myself a Palestinian living in Gaza, or an Egyptian living here [in Egypt] if, God forbid, the Brotherhood had a majority in parliament. First, if what Hamas did against Fatah were to happen anywhere in the Arab homeland… the result would be, quite simply, that people would not receive salaries, schooling, [medical] treatment, or services…

"I imagine that when Hamas considers murdering Mahmoud Abbas, it will in no way ask the people, since it [already] received a mandate at the ballot box… It is possible that Hamas will receive orders from Iran and will carry them out, and then it will drag the region into a destructive total war. It is also possible that Tehran will convince the Hamas leaders to repeat Hizbullah's experience…

"In short, the victory of Hamas and the Brotherhood at the ballot box does not mean that they are politicians and that they are capable of running the state, with all of the political [implications] and the responsibility that this entails. All that Hamas is capable of doing is to be crack troops of suicide. Unfortunately, however, they are not committing suicide alone. They are forcing the entire people to commit suicide, and I fear that this is the same tactic and path that the Brotherhood in Egypt is taking…" [4]

DNC Uses Jimmy Carter as its International Ambassador

Got this ditty from the RJC today. Apparently our friends in the Democratic Party have a little club called Democrats Abroad.
Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party organization for the millions of Americans living outside the United States. We work to advance the principles of our Party by spreading the Democratic message to Americans abroad and encouraging them to vote for Democratic candidates back home.
And who do you think our Democratic friends have chosen as their honorary Chairman Jimmeh the Peanut. The RJC has asked the Dems to find a new honorary Chair. So lets how Mr. Dean responds...maybe they like to be associated with a Jew hating, Israel bashing jerk.

Former Ambassadors Call on DNC to Remove Jimmy Carter

Contact: Executive Director Matthew Brooks
Wednesday, June 27, 2007

CORRECTION: The date of Carter's remark about Hamas was June 19, not June 21.

Washington, DC... The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) today sent a letter signed by six former U.S. ambassadors to Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, asking him to remove former President Jimmy Carter from his position as Honorary Chairman of Democrats Abroad, an arm of the DNC.

The letter comes in response to statements by Carter which call into doubt his suitability as a representative of the United States abroad. Recently, he criticized the U.S. government for withholding direct aid to Hamas, describing this policy as "criminal."

The letter states:

As you probably know, in public comments made on June 21 after receiving a donation for his foundation from a group in Dublin, Ireland, the former President castigated our government and the governments of Israel and the European Union for withholding direct aid to Hamas leaders in the Palestinian Authority. Carter described this policy as “criminal.”

It has been nearly a decade since the State Department under President Clinton designated Hamas as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. As you know, it is illegal for individuals in our country – much less the federal government itself – to knowingly provide material support or resources to an organization that has been so designated.

In light of these considerations, it is the course of action Carter is advocating – provision of direct aid to Hamas by the U.S. government – that would be “criminal.” In light of Hamas’ long record of murderous attacks on civilians in Israel and within the Palestinian territories, it would also be grossly immoral.

... You may recall that last November, a Hamas subsidiary issued a communiqué calling on sympathizers to attack American targets “all over the globe.” It is difficult for us to understand how Carter can be deemed fit to serve as Honorary Chairman of Democrats Abroad after having urged support for Hamas.

When a prominent American such as a former U.S. President makes statements abroad so at odds with American policy and with good sense, they raise diplomatic and public diplomacy difficulties for our government and our official spokesmen abroad.

When Jimmy Carter published an anti-Israel book, the DNC issued a statement saying that "on this issue President Carter speaks for himself, the opinions in his book are his own, they are not the views or position of the Democratic Party." Given Carter's most recent statements, the former ambassadors call upon Chairman Dean to match action to words by removing Jimmy Carter from his official position with Democrats Abroad.

June 27, 2007

The Honorable Howard Dean
Chairman Democratic National Committee
430 S. Capitol St. SE
Washington, DC 20003

Dear Governor Dean:

We are writing to share our deep concern about the decision of your party to have former President Jimmy Carter continue to serve as Honorary Chairman of Democrats Abroad, the official Democratic Party organization for Americans living outside the United States. We urge you to reassess his suitability for that honored status in light of his recent outrageous remarks regarding Hamas.

As former ambassadors, we have learned – sometimes through difficult experience – that the words used by prominent Americans while overseas can resonate more loudly than remarks uttered at home for domestic consumption.

That seems especially true in this instance.

Mr. Chairman: You have credited Jimmy Carter with spurring your entry into public service. While campaigning for the office of President of the United States, you left Iowa just days before the all-important caucuses to visit Carter at his home, and in public remarks you made while standing beside him you said, “I think Jimmy Carter is a loved figure all over America for his moral standing and the way he has conducted himself in helping others since he's left the presidency.” And you said that if elected, you would seek to “follow the example of Jimmy Carter.”

But when Carter published a book smearing Israel as an “apartheid” state, your committee issued a statement asserting that “on this issue President Carter speaks for himself, the opinions in his book are his own, they are not the views or position of the Democratic Party.”

In view of Carter’s most recent remarks, however, we urge you to go further and take prompt action to ensure that Carter is stripped of the formal role your party has bestowed upon him by removing him as Honorary Chairman of Democrats Abroad. As Republicans, we know that we will agree to disagree with Democrats like you about many things, but we are hopeful that on this matter, we can find common ground.

Thank you for your careful attention to this request.

Sincerely,

Abbas Goes Off Script and Screws-up Will it ruin his chance for a Teaching Job at Barnard ?

Mahmoud Abbas is under a lot of pressure...I guess thats why he made the big boo-boo. You see it has aways been the Palestinian position that they were the first and original residents of the holy land. True that argument is a ton of lard, and only mentioned as a way to delegitimatize the Jewish claim on Israel--but you wouldn't believe how many crazies in the world buy their tall tale.

Last week I was so taken aback by Abbas' statement that he refused to negotiate with terrorists, that I totally missed Abbas little comment in the same speech which put a damper on the "first come first served" argument. He was talking about the Hamas destruction of a church in Gaza:
One of the oldest churches in Palestine, which stood long before our arrival [in the region], was looted and set on fire. There are Christians among us, and they are our brothers, and now we discover that [according to Hamas] they are enemies and must leave [ Palestine]?!

Mahmoud if the Christains were there befor you....and the Jews were the before the Christians its simple math 1+2=you are a liar. Kuddos to the ZOA for pointing Aboo-Boo Mazen's mistake:

New York - Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas, in a speech denouncing the murder and violence committed by Hamas forces in their take-over of Gaza, stated that Hamas had looted and set on fire a church which was older than the Palestinian Arab presence in the Holy Land, thereby admitting that Palestinian Arabs are not the original inhabitants. In a speech on Wednesday to the PLO Central Council, Abbas stated that Hamas has been “murdering, executing people on the street, throwing fighters from tall buildings, and looting security headquarters, public facilities and Christian houses of worship. [Indeed,] even the churches were not spared. One of the oldest churches in Palestine, which stood long before our arrival [in the region], was looted and set on fire. There are Christians among us, and they are our brothers, and now we discover that [according to Hamas] they are enemies and must leave [ Palestine]?!” ( Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), June 22).

The Jewish connection to the land of Israel goes back to biblical times and two Jewish commonwealths existed during biblical and post-biblical times. The original Christians were a breakaway from Judaism and date from Jesus’ time. The Muslim Arabs, in contrast, arrived in the land only centuries later, in the seventh century, occupying Jerusalem in 638. Despite the wealth of historical knowledge existing of Jewish and Christian life in Israel, the PA officially asserts that there is no Jewish connection to Jerusalem, that the Jewish Temple never stood in Jerusalem, that Jesus was a Palestinian, and that Palestinian Arabs are descendants of earlier, Phoenician inhabitants of the land. Yasser Arafat declared once that Palestinian Arabs are descended from a non-existent Canaanite king named Salem, who supposedly preceded the Jewish settlement in the land:

“Those of you who lit the intifada fire must now act as defenders of this young state, whose capital is Jerusalem. It is Bir Salem [the fountain of Salem]. Salem was one of the Canaanite Kings, one of our forefathers. This city is the capital of our children and our children’s children. If not for this belief and conviction of the Palestinian nation, this people would have been erased from the face of the earth, as were so many other nations” (Arafat in an address in Jericho, August 18, 1994, cited by historian Martin Gilbert, New Republic, November 14, 1994).
At the time of the 2000 negotiations, then-Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami recounted that when Israel was offering to concede sovereignty over the Temple Mount to the Palestinian state, the PA was not prepared that the agreement should mention a historical connection between the Jewish people and that place ( Haaretz, July 7, 2004).

ZOA National Chairman of the Board, Dr. Michael Goldblatt said,
“Although Abbas undoubtedly did not intend to let slip a statement that the Palestinian Arabs are not the original inhabitants of the land, he did just that in his speech. This is an important admission because it gives the lie to the Palestinian Arab claim that Jews are purely new arrivals whereas Palestinian Arabs are natives from time immemorial. Despite Abbas’ admission, it is clear from recent events, like the destruction of churches and attacks on Christian institutions in Gaza in recent days that extremism, violence and chaos lies in store for all non-Muslims residing in a Palestinian Arab state, should one be created in the near future, a goal supported by so many governments, including the Bush Administration.”

Still wondering why this will hurt Abbas' chance at a Barnard Teaching Job ? Nadia Abu El-Haj is an assistant professor at Barnard College. She wrote a book claiming that Jewish origins were not in Israel and she also said any archeology proving that the Jews were in Israel were just bogus science. Not a bad claim for an anthtropolgist who has never been to an archeology dig in Israel (for more about this lady see Jewish Origins In Israel PURE FICTION Says Barnard College Professor).

With Abbas' denial of the made up history taught at Barnard, he just wont fit in with the rest of the faculty. I guess when he decides to retire from being terrorist he will just have to find something else to do.
