Olmert Govt: An Organization Falling Apart

A true indication of an organization falling apart is when people start trying to take over the role of others. A month ago we asked the question Is Olmert Losing Control of His Govt? As examples we pointed out:

  • His Foreign Minister decided to publicly undercut the UN Ambassador in public, his crime? Telling the truth about France.
  • Avigdor Lieberman, decided that he is foreign minister by announcing that Israel should ignore Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, wipe out the Hamas leadership and walk away from the U.S.-backed ‘roadmap’ peace plan
  • Defense Minister Mr. Peretz, decided to stop being the country' s number one advocate AGAINST tzedaka and also try on the Foreign Ministry portfolio. He picked up the phone to shoot the breeze with Palestinian President Abbas.
Yesterday the madness continued, Education Minister Yuli Tamir decided that all negotiations are over, and Israel was changing its boarders, moving back behind the green line.
Tamir, a former member of the Peace Now group, ordered her staff to ensure that textbook maps show the pre-1967 borders that separate Judea, Samaria and Gaza from the rest of Israel. “How can we demand that the Arab world recognize our borders if we don’t recognize the June 1967 borders,” she asked. (Arutz Sheva)

Protests came from both sides of the political spectrum, beginning with a panel of rabbis who handed down a Jewish legal decree (psak Halacha) forbidding students from using the new textbooks, according to Israel Radio..

Tamir responded by referring to confiscation of textbooks which have contained maps .that include the Green Line as a Kabbalistic “pulsa de nura” The reference, translated from the Aramaic as “whip of fire,” calls upon the angels of destruction to block Heavenly forgiveness of the subject’s sins, cause his or her death and rain down upon him or her all the curses named in the Bible.
Folks this goes way beyond an educational or political issue. This government is in disarray; everyone is trying to do everything else's job. We are witnessing a weak prime minister, trying to hold together a diverse coalition who doesn't have the vision or backbone to make it work. In other words the government is falling apart. Olmert isn't showing leadership and Israel is suffering greatly.

One week from Friday we will be lighting the first candles of Chanukah. One of my favorite songs from the holiday is Maotzur. The lyrics praise G-d saying "in every age a hero or sage comes to our aid" In the short months since he took office, Echud Olmert has proved that he "aint it!" Its time for new Israeli leadership.

Lord, I know you have a plan, but looking at how Israel is in danger from her enemies, and how she is falling apart because of lack of leadership, Sir may I humbly suggest that maybe this is one of those times where you send us one of those heroes or sages?

Another Reason to be worried about the future of Israel From Pam at Atlas Shrugs..The New Head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Joe Biden:

Just about makes your skin crawl.......... yech. What a creep.

Yesterday, after President Bush accepted the resignation of Ambassador John Bolton, Senator Biden issued a statement claiming that ?it is unfortunate that the White House continues its false claim that consideration of Mr. Bolton?s nomination was blocked by SenaBiden_plagiarist_1te Democrats.? Biden Press Release - spineless, dickless wonder.

The record could not be any more clear on the point that the Senate was unable to move to an up-or-down vote on Mr. Bolton?s nomination because Democrats filibustered his nomination. The Senate considered cloture motions on his nomination on two separate occasions, which failed both times because all but three Democrats voted to continue to the filibuster. 109th Cong., 1st Sess., Vote 129 (May 26, 2005); 109th Cong., 1st Sess., Vote 142 (June 20, 2005).

Not one, not one, Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (Biden was the Ranking Minority Member) would vote to allow the Bolton confirmation to move to the Senate floor (where it would have overwhelmingly passed.)

What contempt Biden has for the American people. Bald face lies to their face. I wonder if he was sneering as well.

Bad enough the chief plagiarist undermines the good of the nation with reckless power plays, but to wuss out and refuse to take responsibility for those very decisions sets a new low, even for him.
