Olmert's a Tease: Makes Two Good Moves then Returns to Stupidity

This blog has been very critical of the Israeli Prime Minister since the beginning of the Lebanon war when it became apparent that he didn't show the resolve to try to win the conflict. Today however the tower of Jello made two correct decisions. I had hoped that this is the start of a trend not just dumb luck. But it turns out he was just teasing us

Firstly the Foreign Office announced that they will not cooperate with the phony Tutu commission. The Jerusalem Post reported:

Israel will not cooperate with a UN fact-finding mission to investigate last month's botched shelling in Beit Hanoun that killed 19 people, but will not bar entry into the country to the mission's head, South African Noble Peace Prize laureate Desmond Tutu. Israel would not cooperate with the mission; just as it did not cooperate with a fact-finding mission the UN sent in 2002 to investigate what the Palestinians claimed then was the "Jenin massacre." The United Nations Human Rights Council, a body which diplomatic officials have said has proven itself to be stridently anti-Israeli, set up the fact finding mission last month, and Tutu is supposed to report back by the middle of December.

Tutu was quoted over the weekend as saying that "I am honored to have been asked by the United Nations to lead a fact-finding mission to the Gaza Strip. We have been asked to assess the situation of victims, address the needs of survivors and make recommendations on ways and means to shield civilians from military assault."

Notice anything missing from his statements, like the Israeli victims of course those victims do not matter, the UN thins Jewish blood is cheap as for Tutu, his feelings are summed up by this quote:

Speaking in a Connecticut church in 1984, Tutu said that “the Jews thought they had a monopoly on God; Jesus was angry that they could shut out other human beings.” In the same speech, he compared the features of the ancient Holy Temple in Jerusalem to the features of the apartheid system in South Africa. While the Foreign Ministry has pointedly refrained from responding directly to questions about the mission and whether Israel would cooperate with it, the ADL last week blasted the UN Human Rights Commission and the appointment of Tututo lead its team to Beit Hanoun.

"The appointment of Desmond Tutu as head of the fact-finding mission to Beit Hanoun is an extension of the anti-Israel kangaroo court tactics used by the UN Human Rights Council," ADL national director Abraham Foxman said in a statement."No fact-finding mission can produce balanced and trustworthy results if its leader professes to know all the answers beforehand," Foxman said. "Tutu has already publicly expressed his anti-Israel views and his opinions regarding what happened in Beit Hanoun, and combined with the one-sided anti-Israel mandate."

The other thing that Echud did right today, was announce that he would not expand the fake cease-fire to the west bank. The IDF had been arguing against the expansion of this farce 'truce", ever since they were surprised by the Gaza announcement a week ago:

Peretz said during a meeting of the Security Cabinet that the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service will continue to operate in the West Bank to prevent terror attacks against Israel. Jpost

Just when you think that Omert is getting wise he becomes an idiot again. Today he announced that the IDF IS NOT ALLOWED TO TRY TO SHOOT DOWN THE KASSAMS. Let me say it another way. The Tower of Jello said the Israeli Army cannot try to prevent Israeli deaths. Arutz Sheva reported:

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzippi Livni overruled Israel’s security chiefs Sunday, handing down orders that soldiers are to make no effort to prevent rocket fire. Israel Radio diplomatic affairs correspondent Shmuel Tal reported Sunday afternoon that the Security Cabinet decided at its meeting to instruct the IDF not to take action to stop terrorists identified as about to launch rockets towards Israel or hit them immediately afterward either.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Public Security Minister Avi Dichter both argued that Israel is obligated to protect its citizens from rocket fire. They were overruled, however, by Olmert and Livni, who asserted that there are “other considerations.”

Peretz told the Cabinet that the cease-fire agreement in Gaza is being observed only “in-part” and said it was critical that Egypt act to intercept arms before they were transferred to Gaza through the Rafiah tunnel system. He also disclosed that IDF officials have been attending meetings with the Hamas officials running the Palestinian Authority militia. Peretz also urged those present to allow the IDF to fire at those preparing to launch rockets. "The safety of the citizens of Israel must not be gambled with,” Peretz said. “We must act against rocket launching cells.”

Olmert made a speech last week at Ben Gurion's grave. He tried to sound almost Moses-like as he promised to lead the country into the promised land of peace. Well Echud, I know Moshe, Moshe is still a teacher of mine, and Echud, You are NO MOSES. Moses told the Pharaoh "let my people go !" Echud is essentially telling terrorists, "Let My People Die !"
