Ashkenazi: Only way to Calm Gaza is to Send in IDF

Once again Olmert and Barak are ignoring the advice of their Chief of Staff. After today's 20 Kassam barrage, Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi explained that the current reality of Kassam attacks against Israel is unacceptable.

"It is not possible to defeat a terrorist organization without having control on the ground," Ashkenazi said at the Conference on Security Challenges at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv. "The results in the West Bank in the past two years have been impressive, because of our control on the ground level."

"We will eventually need to have [such] control [in Gaza], operations-wise and intelligence-wise…We will not be able to win only by air strikes and ground fire," he said. Source JpostAshkenazi: Growing possibility of large-scale Gaza op

Olmert's lack of leadership, indecisiveness and peace at any cost additude has given Hamas and growing confidence in Israel's vulnerability. Hamas is sending rockets into the Negev with reckless abandon--and snubs their nose at peaceful nations. The world sees a leaderless Israel and is doing its best to push the nation into a one-sided "peace" deal. Its time to show Hamas that terrorism does not pay.

On the other hand Canada does have some degree of backbone when it comes to dealing with terrorists; Dave at Soccer Dad has the story of how Canada has refused Iranian Ambassadors that have a terrorist background. See Canada Praised For What Israel Should Have Done
