CAIR Defends Arrested Dallas Terrorist, Claims Entrapment

Last week  Husein Smadi, was arrested and charged in a federal criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Smadi, who was under continuous surveillance by the FBI, was arrested today near Fountain Place, a 60-story glass office tower located at 1445 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas, after he placed a fake car bomb at the location (he thought it was real). Smadi, a Jordanian citizen, and an Illegal alien, lived and worked in Italy, Texas, (approximately 45 miles south of Dallas). He has repeatedly espoused his desire to commit violent Jihad and has been the focus of an undercover FBI investigation.

Before he was arrested Smadi actually dialed the phone number that he thought would blow up the bomb and take down the building.

True to their nature, domestic terrorist group Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), claimed that the Illegal Alien Smadi may have been a victim of entrapment:

The Dallas Central Mosque is buzzing with activity nearly everyday. One thousand worship come here daily and on some days the numbers go as high as four thousand. Members are praying that the Islam faith is not tarnished by the actions of another radical. Anwar Taufique firmly states, " We denounce any and all forms of terrorism."

Taufique says he's been here before, defending his faith. He says the alleged actions of Hosam Smadi were his own, not Islams. He also thinks Smadi may have been set up to fail saying, " I hope it is not an entrapment, some of the parts seem to be like that."

Mustafaa Carroll of the Council on American Islamic Relations also agrees saying, " I think that it's a bit far when you go in and you give the person the means and you coax them for six months or what have you."

Carroll suspects entrapment, though he says Smadi is responsible for his own actions. He's also angry that some are critical of all Muslims saying, " They don't go to the church because its around the corner, a dope house around the corner they don't go to one of the churches in the neighborhood and say what do the christians say about this and there are lots of people doing wrong and they're actually claiming all kind of things. "

There are an estimated 150,000 Muslims that attend one of 14 different mosques throughout the Metroplex. Speaking on behalf of his group Anwar Taufique says he will let the justice system play out. Regardless of faith, he has advice for young people saying, " You know think before they make these kind of foolish and criminal activities."
If the FBI wasn't able give Smadi fake bomb making materials as a substitute for the real ones, he would been a mass murderer along with his other crimes. I wonder if CAIR would have been calling it entrapment then also.
