Alan Grayson, I'm Not a Jerk I am a Comedian

Alan Grayson (D-Fla) the village idiot has a message for all of you upset at the nasty things he has said during his first year in Congress he is not a Jerk he is a comedian. Grayson appeared on this weekend's Central Florida Spotlight show on WFTV.

Host Craig Patrick began the show by asking the Congressman about some of his more controversial comments, Things such as what he said of former Vice President Dick Cheney: “I have trouble listening to what he says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he’s talking,” or calling Fox News the enemy of America,o a female adviser to the Federal Reserve chairman “a K Street whore," and he speculated that gasoline would only cost a dollar per gallon if former President George W. Bush had let Saudi Prince Abdullah "get to second base"

Patrick asked Grayson what he would say to the people who criticized those type of statements.  Instead of responding, Grayson played avoid the question by asking Patrick to name the people who criticized his comments. He ripped host Craig Patrick for misquoting him and citing unnamed critics. Grayson faulted the way that Patrick framed comments by Grayson’s critics. “Who are these you keep referring to as ‘those out there’? Can you name one for me? This is a cheap journalistic trick,” Grayson said. You don’t see that on “Face the Nation” or “Meet the Press.
Patrick tried to recap controversial comments Grayson has made. “You compared the Republican health-care plan to a death sentence,” Patrick said.

Grayson said Patrick wasn’t being accurate. “I mocked the Republican absence of a health-care plan by saying the Republican health-care plan is don’t get sick,” Grayson said. “Why would you say that that’s a death sentence?”
Grayson disputed the notion that his comments have crossed the line. “I’m telling the truth, and I’m doing it in a courageous manner,” he said.

“Central Florida Spotlight” replayed Grayson’s comment that he had a hard time listening to former Vice President Dick Cheney “because of the blood that drips from his teeth when he’s talking.”
“I’m mocking people,” Grayson told Patrick. “I don’t really think that Vice President Cheney is a vampire. Did you think that I thought that?”
I don't if that mad you folks feel better but I was certainly relieved to find out that Grayson did not really believe in vampires, face it the guy is such a buffoon that it was natural to think that he believed in monsters.
Patrick said such a line would be more appropriate from David Letterman or Jay Leno. “If you’re accusing me of having a sense of humor, I plead guilty,” Grayson said.
See, Grayson is not a nasty Jerk, he is a comedian, granted not a very funny one. He finished the interview with another one of those" funny comments".

Rep. Alan Grayson, suggested that giving the GOP control of Congress again is like letting Al Qaeda terrorists pilot a plane.
"Why would you want to put people in charge of government who just don't want to do it," Grayson told a local TV program in Orlando that is to air Saturday. "I mean, you wouldn't expect to see Al Qaeda members as pilots."
After the program, Patrick sent Grayson a partial list of those who have criticized statements made by U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson:

  • (referring to ‘die quickly’ statement) "A breach of decorum and degraded the integrity and proceedings of the House"  Rep. Tom Price (R) Georgia
  • "That is about the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor, and I, for one, don't appreciate Rep. Jimmy Duncan (R) Tennessee
  • "It's fully appropriate that the gentleman return to the floor and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R) Tennessee
  •  (referring to ‘K-street whore’ statement) “There’s no call for that language. No call for it. That’s absurd. If he was standing here now, I’d say that to him” Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.)
  •  “He’s out of control,” Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R) Washington - vice chair of the House Republican Conference.
  •   “A bit extreme and rather sexist.” Rep. Dina Titus (D) Nevada
  • (after Rep. Grayson’s reference to “holocaust” in healthcare discussion) “He's not really someone who's interested in solving the problem; he's trying to really create more of this bickering. And more of these types of comments are not helping the debate in Washington.” Adam Hasner Florida House Majority Leader
  • (Referring to several statements) “Arrogant and disrespectful,” Dan Fanelli (R), Florida 8th Congressional District Challenger
  • “Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)
Wow even the Big Weenie, Congressman Weiner criticized Grayson.

But Grayson is standing his ground, he compares the venom he spews to Harry Truman.
“I have spoken out honestly and courageously on many issues that are important to all of us, especially the fact that I want every American who is sick to be able to see a doctor, and get the care that he or she needs. The other side disagrees, and so they complain about me and attack me personally. But as Harry Truman said, “I don’t give them hell. I just tell the truth about them, and they think it’s hell.” People liked a President with guts, and they like a Congressman with guts. That’s why our polls show that if I ran in the Republican primary, not just the Democratic primary, I’d win it. That’s why a first-term Congressman like me has the largest donor base of any member of Congress. We are working hard, paying attention, and getting things done, so of course they attack us. And as Franklin Roosevelt said about his opponents, who sought to keep America mired in the Great Depression, “I welcome their hatred.”
There is a big difference between being courageous and being a bully, Grayson is a bully and like most bullies he is a coward and that is not funny at all.
