Both Gallup and Rasmussen Show Record GOP Advantage in Generic Ballot

Sorry Mr. President, but your recovery summer is a bummer. Only two and a half months before the mid-term elections both the Gallup and Rasmussen polls have the GOP opening up its largest generic ballot lead in recent history.

Gallup, whose poll numbers tend to be a bit more left oriented than Rasmussen reports the GOP with a 50-43% preference spread. The reason for the spread was an uptick in people who identify themselves as Republicans, which in the last month has gone from a 44-40% Democratic party advantage to 42% for each party, and an increase in GOP preference for independent voters from 10% to a 13% (47-34%) advantage

There Rasmussen study also shows the public is not buy the spin about the President's policies.Their generic ballot, shows the Republicans with a 12% point lead over Democrats, 48% to 36%.
Republican candidates have jumped out to a record-setting 12-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, August 15, 2010. This is the biggest lead the GOP has held in over a decade of Rasmussen Reports surveying.
The Rasmussen poll also shows the independents solidly in the GOP camp,  by a 52% to 21% margin, independent a  Republican candidate over the Democrats.

Republicans should not pop the champagne just as yet, first of all most polls also show voters disapprove of all members of congress not just the Democrats. Polls also show that voters are looking for their government to focus on the economy and fiscal responsibility, the GOP needs to focus on those issues. In other words "Its the Economy Stupid."
