Did the RJC Ad Go Too Far?: Wesley Clark and Jewish Issues

Yesterday I posted the RJC ad Blasting Wesley Clark for his recent anti-Israel/ anti-Semitic statements using "Ancient" Stereotypes suggesting that Israel and Rich NY Jews are pushing the US toward war.

"You just have to read what's in the Israeli press. The Jewish community is divided but there is so much pressure being channeled from the New York money people to the office seekers"
Some of the comments and emails I received were very angry. Jai from Missouri (who didn't leave a real email address) wrote that I was shilling for the Republican party and compared me to a CAPO in the camps. Town Crier was so angry he left two comments and said that the RJC would "rather flush money down the toilet calling a friend of the jews a racist cuz it helps their mindless agenda."

I was very surprised by these emails. When this Ad was posted I made no mention of party affiliation in my comments. Yes it is true that I am a Conservative. But I will blast anyone, regardless of party, if they make insensative comments, or promoted anti-Israel policies. Just as I have blasted Republicans such as Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice for example. Heck, former Republican TV Commentators Pat Buchanan and Bill O'Reilly are among my favorite whipping boys.

Since some people asked, I do not believe Wesley Clark is an anti-Israel in the tradition of Pat Buchanan, Jimmy Carter or Al Sharpton. They at least have an ideology. Clark on the other hand just wants to be President, and is adapting his ideology as it goes.

Remember 2004, when it became popular in the Democratic primaries to be Jewish. Of course that's when he came out and announced that not only was he Jewish but his birth father was a Kohen (so he out- ranked all of the other "Jewish" candidates).

Clark is an opportunist. If you look at the breadth of his comments, you would think that he was a major friend of Israel. That's because it was only after he began to receive funds from the more left wing "New York Money" people like George Soros that Clark began to make troublesome remarks about Israel. For example he was one of the few US public figures to bash Israel during this summer's Lebanon War:

There's a lot of demonstrations out there against the American government and its policies. We've made some serious, serious mistakes, the latest being - it's hard to pick the latest - but one of them, recently, was the one where we sided with the Israelis in that air campaign in Lebanon. And instead of stopping the bombing, we were cheerleading it. Retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark presenting the Frank A. Nix Lecture at The University of Alabama on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006

Clark was also one of the first people to link the Iraq war to Israel's conflict with the Palestinians

America's perceived pro-Israel bias, and its failure to engage seriously in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has fed the poisonous atmosphere fueling Arab anger toward the United States and its efforts in Iraq....

....The road to Baghdad runs through Jerusalem, not, as the neoconservatives unquestioningly believe, the other way around. Key to Sucess By Wesley K. Clark, The New Republic June 7, 2004

So to answer the question of did the RJC Ad go too far. I do not think so. Don't write to tell me what a great friend of Israel he is. Wesley Clark is not a bad man, or anti-Israel. He just SO desperately wants to be President, that he would run over his own puppy to get there. I don't care what party he is affiliated with, I can't trust a man like that.
