Hamas Demand Israel's Recognition of Palestinian Right to Exist !

You know its true, the good Lord works in so many mysterious ways. Take this morning for instance. Its just a dreary Tennessee morning, maybe its a post Oscars night thing. But here I am looking for something to write about and at the same time looking for a way to keep my eyes open and BAM, I run across this article from Ynet which does both.

Especially this quote:
Our goal is to encourage the international community to start cooperation with the Palestinian government and pressurize Israel to recognize the Palestinian state's right to exist," RIA Novosti news agency quoted him as saying

This quote came from Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal. You get the feeling that Khaled is "special." You know what I mean just a little bit slow. The kind of guy that says lits kill innocent Israeli babies one second and then turns to his buddy Abbas and says "time for wapner" Either way that knucklehead cannot be big on reading Newspapers. If he was he would realize that the last three Israeli PMs hav voiced their support for a Palestinian state, and stated that they will make painful compromises:
    • The State of Israel does not wish to control you and your future. We want good neighborly relations with you based on respect and liberty, on broad coordination, on shared interests, and on a separation that will allow you and us to maintain independent identities, development, and free choice.Prime Minister Ehud Barak,

    • We would like you to govern yourselves in your own country—a democratic Palestinian state with territorial contiguity in Judea and Samaria and economic viability, which would conduct normal relations of tranquility, security, and peace with Israel. —Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, December 2003
    • In the framework of this dialogue, and in accordance with the Road Map, you will be able to establish an independent and viable Palestinian State, with territorial contiguity in Judea and Samaria—a State with full sovereignty and defined borders.-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, November 2006
Khaled Mashaal is either a fool who doesn't read the papers, or a very effective liar. Take your pick.

Hamas chief in Moscow for Palestinian government talks

Group's political leader Mashaal hopes to capitalize on Quartet member's support for Palestinian unity deal and its stance towards lifting blockade on PA

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal arrived in Moscow on Monday for talks aimed at capitalizing on differences among the Quartet of Middle East negotiators over how to deal with the Palestinian government.

"Our goal is to encourage the international community to start cooperation with the Palestinian government and pressurize Israel to recognize the Palestinian state's right to exist," RIA Novosti news agency quoted him as saying.

"We value Russia's position towards lifting the blockade from which the Palestinian people suffer. We also value Russia's special position in the issues of the Middle East settlement."

Russia takes a softer line on the Islamist Hamas than the United States and the European Union, which along with the United Nations make up the Quartet.

The West is boycotting Hamas and the government it formed after an election victory last year, demanding it recognizes Israel, renounces violence and accepts interim peace deals.

Earlier this month, Hamas and the rival Fatah faction agreed to form a unity government hoping to end the international boycott and factional fighting.

But the Quartet failed to work out a common stand on the unity government at a meeting last week.

Russia wants the Quartet to back the coalition deal, while the Western governments have adopted a wait-and-see approach.

Moscow is the last leg of Mashaal's tour, which included Egypt and Iran.

He is to hold meetings in the Russian foreign ministry, but there were no other details available. It was unclear if he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is believed he will be in Moscow for at least two days.
