State Secretary Raymond Johansen of the Foreign Ministry, in his earlier tenure in the Ministry, expressed his understanding for the Arab war against the Jews and declared that Norway recognises an Arab right to attack Jews (Dagsavisen 23rd June 2003; Aftenposten):
Dagsavisen: “So the Palestinians are in their full rights when they throw stones and shoot against the Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and Gaza, but not when they attack the Jewish settlers?”. Johansen: “It could be an interpretation of this, when we speak of legitimacy”, replies Johansen.
Johansen’s next role was as Secretary General in the Norwegian Refugee Council, where among other things he was responsible for an arts exhibition which included several anti-Jewish elements. The exhibition presented the Jews as murderers and religious fanatics, who pray to their God before they murder innocent Arabs. As if this wasn’t enough, Judaism was presented as “the profoundest reason” for the wars . (The Endless WarAgainst the Jews Norwegian Israel Centre against anti-Semitism)
The media seemed surprised that Israel didn't rush to great Johanson when he tried to visit after his meeting with the Palestinian Unified Terrorist Zealots (PUTZ) Government.
Johansen seems sure that on his next visit he will be welcomed in Israel. Personally I think that Israel should Ban that Jew hating PUTZ from ever entering the country.
JERUSALEM (Reuters) -
Israel has canceled a high-level meeting with a visiting Norwegian dignitary after he held talks with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas, Israeli officials said on Tuesday.
They said a senior Foreign Ministry official was to have hosted Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Raymond Johansen in the morning but the meeting was canceled under a policy instituted after Hamas won Palestinian elections last year.
Johansen visited Haniyeh on Gaza on Monday, becoming the first Western dignitary to engage directly with the Hamas leadership since the Islamist group formed a unity government with the more "moderate" Fatah faction over the weekend.
His visit came three days after Norway recognized the new government and called on Israel and the international community to work constructively with the new Palestinian coalition and release frozen funds to the Palestinian authorities.
"Foreign dignitaries who meet with the Hamas leadership will not have meetings with Israeli officials. This was a decision taken in 2006," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said.
"By recognizing an unreformed extremist, you are reinforcing that extremism."

He used to be a member of the Socialist Left Party -- the junior coalition partner that has been pressing a boycott of Israel and whose favorite American is Norman Finkelstein (they publish his interviews in the local press).
