Irony of Last Week's Middle East News

I spent most of Father's Day weekend in bed with a stomach virus (hence the lack of posts). My illness caused me to spend most of my time watching the news rather than commenting on it. With each passing headline, I found much irony in what was coming out of Israel, I would like to share it with you in short form this morning so I can feel "caught up" and move on to todays news:

  • Arafat's Nobel Prize stolen: Lets face it, this is perfect he got it under false pretenses he should lose it via looting and by the chaos that he helped create.
  • Mrs Arfat's Shoes Stolen. Lets see where have I heard this before. A dictator's wife skipped town without her shoes, but with millions of her people's monies which were stolen by her late husband. Do you think she will change her name to Imelda?
  • Protest against Maxim Magazines Women of the IDF party. Come on folks make your minds up, last week you were protesting against a Homosexual demonstration, this week its a heterosexual demonstration Which is it?
  • Israel cuts off Gas supply to Gaza. Why did they do it? Because they could. It had to be fun cutting off Arabs gas supply even for a little while. In exchange we are going to let them run the worldwide media for a day or two..oh wait, judging by the coverage of Isreal in the press they been controlling the media. Well maybe they can paint the Jewish lobby.
  • US Pushing Israel to help Fatah. UM Anybody remember that they have been firing missiles in to Gaza also? In a related move, the US has decided to release funds to Al Queda.
  • Fatah Calls for a Winograd-type Commision. Sorry guys but if Olmert didn't resign for the Israeli one, he's not going to resign for the Fatah one.
  • Many press stories cite opportunity for peace. But Abbas sees it as an oppportunity for more one-sided concessions by Israel--"Abbas to ask Israel to bolster Fatah, release prisoners."
Haven't we heard much of this before? Thats because Jacques Brel IS alive.

And the whole world madly turning
Turning, turning 'till you can't see
We're on a carousel
A crazy carousel
And now we go around
Again we go around
And now we spin around
We're high above the ground
And down again around
And up again around
So high above the ground
We feel we've got to yell
We're on a carousel
A crazy carousel
We're on a ferris wheel
A crazy ferris wheel
A wheel within a wheel
And suddenly we feel
The stars begin to reel
And down again around
And up again around
And up again around
So high above the ground
We feel we've got to yell
We're on a carousel
A crazy carousel
Carnivals and cotton candy
Carousels and calliopes
Crazy clowns chasing brass rings
Soda pop and rock-candy trees
Merry-go-rounds quickly turning
Quickly turning for you and me
And the whole world madly turning
Turning, turning 'till you can't see
We're on a carousel
A crazy carousel
And now we go around
Again we go around
And now we spin around
We're high above the ground

Carousels and calliopes
Kewpie-dolls with painted faces
Tricky shell games and missing peas
Merry-go-rounds quickly turning
Quickly turning for you and me
And the whole world madly turning
Turning, turning 'till you can't see
We're on a carousel
