SHAS SELLS OUT JERUSALEM FOR $131.5 MILLION

The Shas Party has promised to leave the government and bring down the ruling Israeli coalition as soon as negotiations on Jerusalem begin . Foriegn Minister Lipni and the PLO negotiators have admitted that discussions have begun. Even Shas has hinted that they know that negotiations on the Holy City are ongoing. (Shas Weasels out of Saving Jerusalem Pledge).

Shas party is a religious party run by former Chief Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef and a council of Torah Sages. If you cannot trust them to keep their word about protecting Jerusalem....who can you trust? Well, as we say in New York everybody has their price and for Rabbi Yosef, his price for Jerusalem may be $131.5 Million in Israeli government spending on Shas educational programs:

Knesset's Finance Committee approves allocation of funds to party's educational institutions

The Knesset's Finance Committee on Wednesday approved the allocation of NIS 475 million (about $131.5 million) to Shas' educational institutions, as part of the party's coalition agreements.

The fund transfer was approved by the committee last week, but immediately after the vote, Committee Chairman Stas Misezhnikov (Yisrael Beiteinu) and Knesset Member Chaim Oron (Meretz) decided on a repeated voting.

On Tuesday, Misezhnikov decided to withdraw his request to hold a repeated voting after Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai promised to increase the budget of his ministry's business tutoring project to NIS 17 million ($4.7 million).

The committee voted on the budgetary transfer as per MK Oron's request and approved it.

Four MKs voted in favor of the fund allocation: Yitzhak Vaknin and Amon Cohen (Shas), Nissan Slomiansky (National Union-National Religious Party) and Elhanan Glazer (Pensioners Party). Oron and MK Reuven Rivlin (Likud) voted against it.
Maybe the first thing they can learn with their educational dollars is this from Psalm 137:
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.
