Sen. Barack Obama ripped into a Republican ad today that targets comments made by his wife, Michelle, and called the GOP tactic "low class" and "detestable."The Illinois senator told "Good Morning America" that he expects hardball tactics from the Republicans if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee."But I also think these folks should lay off my wife," he told "GMA" as his wife chuckled beside him.Michelle Obama was asked about the ad on "GMA," but her husband said, "Let me just interject on this."
"The GOP, should I be the nominee, I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said. "I've been in public life for 20 years. I expect them to pore through everything that I've said, every utterance, every statement. And to paint it in the most undesirable light possible. That's what they do."
"But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable," he said.
Obama praised his wife's patriotism and said that for Republicans "to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class ... and especially for people who purport to be promoters of family values, who claim that they are protectors of the values and ideals and the decency of the American people to start attacking my wife in a political campaign I think is detestable." Sorry Senator but your wife is Fair Game, YOU MADE HER FAIR GAME. You allow her to go around the country making statements about her vision of America. Why can't America question her vision ?:
For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction. And just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic, common issues and it's made me proud
Heres another Michelle Ditty:Despite her coarse words, the "American Dream" Has done well for Michelle Obama. She doesn't recognize one big fact. True America has its issues, but the underlying foundations of this country, those freedoms for all, are still zealously guarded by each and every one of us. As long as Michelle Obama travels the country spewing doom and gloom about the greatest country in the world, she is open to criticism. And if Senator Obama did not agree with his wife's evaluation, he would quiet her. Haven't heard that happen. Have you? Of course you haven't and you never will.
Now all my life I have confronted people who had a certain expectation of me. Every step of the way, there was somebody there telling me what I couldn't do. Applied to Princeton. "You can't go there, your test scores aren't high enough." I went. I graduated with departmental honors. And then I wanted to go to Harvard. And that was probably a little too tough for me. I didn't even know why they said that.
But I could go through every curve and twist and turn of my life and find somebody that was telling me, "Lower your expectations. Set your sights low. You're not ready. You can't do that." And every time I pushed past other people's limited expectations of me, and reached for things that I knew I could do, and grabbed my seat at the table that others felt so entitled to, what I learned is that there's no magic to these people who feel so much more ready than me. I'm just as ready--always just as prepared--as anyone at that table.
The democrats have already followed up on Obama's words with a stupid contention that the criticism of Michelle Obama is based in Racism. There we have it. Any criticism of the Obama Family views is racism.
