Does Obama Believe SELLING OUT ISRAEL IS GOOD BUSINESS ?

The Administration of George HW Bush was arguably the most anti-Israel in American History. Foreign policy was lead by Secretary of State Jim Baker. Baker was the SOS, famous for saying, "F**K the Jews, they didn't vote for us anyway" Baker was also the one who during the first Gulf war told Israel to simply suck it up for the greater good and take Iraq's Scud attacks without responding.

When Baker ran the State department under the first President Bush along with his team of "Jew Boys."--- Kurtzer, Dennis Ross, and Aaron Miller. They were Baker's closest advisers and the designers of the Bush's policy to reach out to the PLO, appease terrorism and blame Israel for everything. They were was famous for his disdain of Israel and tilting American Foreign Policy toward the terrorists.
Baker repeatedly blamed the government of Yitzhak Shamir, rather than intransigence of the Arab world, for the absence of a negotiated settlement. Appearing before the House Foreign Affairs committee in June 1990, Baker listed the phone number of the White House’s switchboard and angrily retorted, in reference to Israel, “When you are serious about peace, call us!” Baker also denounced Israel’s refusal to deal with alleged Palestinian “moderates,” stating, “with such an approach there would never be a dialogue on peace.” Heedless of the political realities, Baker organized a conference on the Arab-Israeli conflict in July of 1991, citing the participation of Egypt, Syria, and Saudi Arabia as evidence that the Arab world truly desired peace – this even as the Palestinians, with the vocal approval of neighboring Arab states, escalated their intifada to unprecedented levels of violence. (FrontPage October 11, 06)
Working with Baker was National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft. Scowcroft like Baker, held a disdain for the Jewish State. Their reason for being Anti-Israel? Well Baker does lots of business with the Arab States, and so does his buddy Scowcroft.

For example, here's an interesting and damning tidbit about James Baker in the November 1, 2004 issue of The Nation:

Until now, there has been no concrete evidence that Baker’s loyalties are split, or that his power as Special Presidential Envoy–an unpaid position–has been used to benefit any of his corporate clients or employers. But according to documents obtained by The Nation, that is precisely what has happened. Carlyle has sought to secure an extraordinary $1 billion investment from the Kuwaiti government, with Baker’s influence as debt envoy being used as a crucial lever.

The secret deal involves a complex transaction to transfer ownership of as much as $57 billion in unpaid Iraqi debts. The debts, now owed to the government of Kuwait, would be assigned to a foundation created and controlled by a consortium in which the key players are the Carlyle Group, the Albright Group (headed by another former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright) and several other well-connected firms. Under the deal, the government of Kuwait would also give the consortium $2 billion up front to invest in a private equity fund devised by the consortium, with half of it going to Carlyle.

And there's more

The Nation has obtained a copy of the confidential sixty-five-page “Proposal to Assist the Government of Kuwait in Protecting and Realizing Claims Against Iraq... The consortium’s proposal spells out the threat: Not only is Kuwait unlikely to see any of its $30 billion from Iraq in sovereign debt, but the $27 billion in war reparations that Iraq owes to Kuwait from Saddam Hussein’s 1990 invasion “may well be a casualty of this U.S. [debt relief] effort.”... If Kuwait agrees to transfer the debts to the [Baker's] consortium’s foundation, the consortium will use these personal connections to persuade world leaders that Iraq must “maximize” its debt payments to Kuwait, which would be able to collect the money after ten to fifteen years. And the more the consortium gets Iraq to pay during that period, the more Kuwait collects, with the consortium taking a 5 percent commission or more.

Lets see 5% of $57 Billion is around $3 billion, that is almost real money. So we know where Baker's Loyalties lie, HIS WALLET. What has his partner in hatred Scowcroft? Whats he been up to? Advising President-elect Barack Obama. And making tons of Cash from the Middle East.

According to Ed Lasky:
Recent news reports indicate that Barack Obama has been receiving advice from Brent Scowcroft. Scowcroft is a former National Security Adviser who has a long history of coolness towards Israel. This past week he joined forces with another former national security adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who shares his views towards Israel to write an op-ed for the Washington Post, "Middle East Priorities" for January 21. The column advised Obama to make the Middle East peace process a priority, blamed our problems in the region on the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians (implicitly blaming our support for Israel), and laid down the parameters that should guide the administration its conflict with the Palestinians and the Israelis:

The major elements of an agreement are well known. A key element in any new initiative would be for the U.S. president to declare publicly what, in the view of this country, the basic parameters of a fair and enduring peace ought to be. These should contain four principal elements: 1967 borders, with minor, reciprocal and agreed-upon modifications; compensation in lieu of the right of return for Palestinian refugees; Jerusalem as real home to two capitals; and a nonmilitarized Palestinian state.

Something more might be needed to deal with Israeli security concerns about turning over territory to a Palestinian government incapable of securing Israel against terrorist activity. That could be dealt with by deploying an international peacekeeping force, such as one from NATO, which could not only replace Israeli security but train Palestinian troops to become effective.
....Some people might be surprised that Barack Obama would reach out to a figure so identified with the Republican Party. However, such surprise might be mitigated, when one looks at the common characteristic of many Republican leaders who have flocked to Barack Obama: they seem to share a desire to weaken the American-Israel alliance
According to the Wall Street Journal, Scowcroft has become very influential.

....Mr. Scowcroft spoke by phone with President-elect Barack Obama last week, the latest in a months-long series of conversations between the two men about defense and foreign-policy issues, according to people familiar with the discussions.

The relationship between the president-elect and the Republican heavyweight suggests that Mr. Scowcroft's views, which place a premium on an Israeli-Palestinian peace accord, might hold sway in the Obama White House.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who was deputy national-security adviser under Mr. Scowcroft in the George H.W. Bush administration, is almost certain to be retained by Mr. Obama, according to aides to the president-elect. Richard Haass, a Scowcroft protégé and former State Department official, could be tapped for a senior National Security Council, State Department or intelligence position. Mr. Haass currently runs the Council on Foreign Relations.
....."I think most of my close associates have a generally similar view," Mr. Scowcroft said in an interview. "What's the old story about birds of a feather?"
What motivates Scowcroft? Lasky Points out that Scowcroft's buisness,
the Scowcroft Group. is a Washington, D.C. international business advisory firm with extensive interests in the Middle East. Will Scowcroft peddle his influence in an Obama Administration to further his financial interests in the region? He seems to believe that his op-eds can be used as sales tools, since he posts them on the firm's website: (for example, Getting The Middle East Back on Our Side wherein he writes glowingly of the Iraq Study Group final report -- one that seemed to be biased against Israel and which was drafted under the aegis of Scowcroft's long-time ally, former Secretary of State James Baker). Scowcroft advocates increased engagement with Iran. American businesses have been constrained in doing business with Iran. Will Scowcroft and his acolytes promote ties with Iran to garner lucrative business relationships?
So the question remains will Obama sell out Israel so lobbyists for the Arab countries, people like Brent Scowcroft and James Baker, can line their pockets?
