"We didn't initiate the Gaza operation in order to end it while Israeli towns are still under fire, as they were before the operation...Israel has shown restraint for years; she gave the truce a chance; we told ourselves 'let's try it,' but Hamas violated the truce."Did Israel do the right thing? Absolutely !!! Let me explain:
- The Cease-fire as presented would have bound Israel NOT Hamas, they did NOT agree to anything. The cease fire that Hamas ended two weeks ago, allowed Hamas to re-arm. It also allowed Hamas to shoot over 500 rocket/mortars into the Gaza Communities.
- The reason Israel has been able to pinpoint Hamas infrastructure is the intelligence that she has collected over the past 6 months combined with the element of surprise. A two day "cease-fire" would enable Hamas to shift and re-hide its operations.
- What about Humanitarian AID? During this Gaza war Israel has been allowing convoys of Humanitarian Aid into Gaza. She did not however, allow Cynthia McKinney's boat into Gaza...That in itself should be considered humanitarian.
It seems as if the rest of the world has been criticizing Israel. But that's not really true. The EU has been criticizing Israel, but the Arab world has been criticizing Israel AND Hamas. That has NEVER happened before. The criticizing of the Jewish State by the Arab world is necessary to placate the radical Muslims that infect each of their states. The fact that Hamas is also being criticized is a message to Israel to keep up the good work.
As far as the EU Criticism, that really comes from France who is the rotating head of the EU through today. Beginning tomorrow, the Czech republic takes over, they support the Israel action and the message should change a little. Keep in mind that nations such as Britian, Germany and France, have sizable Radical Islamic populations, have never been fans of Jews, AND are afraid that their oil has been cut off.
Of course you aren't hearing any of this from the Media, on two different networks this morning I heard the newscasters declare that GAZA was disputed territories. NO IT ISN'T!! Israel left Gaza over three years ago.
And don't forget the left-wing news media, the EU and the Muslim dominated states have never cared much about Jewish blood. To paraphrase Shakespeare; they have scorned my nation, cooled my friends, heated my enemies; and what's their reason? WE ARE JEWS. Hath not a Jew eyes? hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Muslim is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you threaten our children, SHALL WE NOT PROTECT THEM?

You know something?
I don't trust Israel to conduct a war of annihilation against Hamas. That's what needs to happen. I haven't trusted Israel since about 2003, when Israeli defense policy went off the rails. Israelis (like Caroline Glick) and American conservatives (like you) have conveniently blamed Bush and, of course, Condi Rice, when in fact, they have failed to look in the mirror at Israel itself.
Israel came to Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld in 2006 promising Victory Through Airpower. Instead, we got Defeatisme Through Hesitation and a war worthy of Neville Chamberlain and Eduoard Deladier. There is simply no reason to trust that the Israeli Army will fight through to victory. They didn't in 2006, as the Winograd Report made clear, and Rice was forced to pull the plug on the Olmert flying circus once it was clear that he and Amir Peretz did not intend to fight to win.
Of course, the Israelis blamed everyone but themselves, and got their Amen Corner to blame Rice for "imposing" 1701 on them.
I have NO CONFIDENCE in the IDF and the Israeli Government until they show me, in Gaza, that they are different from the shameful, unprepared catastrophe that occurred in 2006. That means heavy duty, house-to-house fighting and elimination of Hamas as a fighting force, including the entire missile force.
Compare this to the United States Army and Marine Corps, which did not hesitate to go into Fallujah, ar-Ramadi, Mosul, Diyalah, and of course, the worst neighborhoods in Baghdad. Time for the IDF to butch up and pay the price of freedom from fear.
That would send a neat message to Nasrallah, and he would get that message. So far? I only see hesitation and more Victory Through Airpower, the strategy of the impotent.
That's an interesting analysis of the reaction of the Arab states. I'm having a hard time knowing what to make of it. The fact of the matter is that they always support Hamas. I think the taqiyya is because either:
(a) they know they're in the wrong and don't have the power at this point to be honest about it, which speaks volumes about the actual strength of the Ummah (who is getting very cocky in Europe and South Asia these days),
(b) they're gearing up for another multi-state, unprovoked, genocidal war,
(c) they want to divert attention from Iran by playing coy,
(d) they're seriously afraid that Israel will do the right thing and evict the Arabs from all of their land, forcing Arab states to take them, which would set a very nasty precedent (Arab states taking care of their own instead of parasitizing the West, diverting vast funds from the stealth jihad and forcing us to reconsider our jizya and immigration policies, and knowing that once the phillistines are theirs, they will never be able to play the victim card, being held to the same standards as the West and having to deal with those monsters), or
(e) they're quaking in their boots, kowing how restrained Israel is, what they are capable of, and how fragile the Ummah is now that they've put all their eggs in a couple of baskets with Hamas (the heart of the Ikhwan) and Hezbollah (which is only as rich as Iran, whose nuclear program has bankrupted it).
In any event, I agree that it's a sign that Israel's doing the right thing. I just hope this isn't the signal to Iran to pull some crap, like the assassination of Massoud signalled 9/11.
