Muslim Countries and the Blood Libel Against Jews---> It Happens Every Passover

In 1840 An elderly Italian monk-priest, Padre Tommaso, and his servant disappeared in Damascus, Syria, after having visited the Jewish quarter in the city. A French consul to the Ottoman Empire, Ratti-Menton, promoted a groundless theory of ritual murder that the local Muslim government largely accepted. Jewish leaders were arrested and tortured. Sixty of their children were held hostage and starved to pressure their parents into confessing. One source said that four adults died from the mistreatment; another states that two died and some were permanently disabled. Most of the rest confessed involvement in a ritual murder. The consul then requested permission from the Syrian government to murder the rest of his suspects. That event is credited with introducing the blood libel myth to the Arab world, where it is still circulating. Passover is a particularly active time because part of the horrible libel is that Jews use children's blood for matzoh.

What makes this Libel particularly disgusting is that the Torah expressly forbids the ingestion of blood. For example Leviticus 17:10-14:

And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that eateth any manner of blood, I will set My face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life.  Therefore I said unto the children of Israel: No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that taketh in hunting any beast or fowl that may be eaten, he shall pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. For as to the life of all flesh, the blood thereof is all one with the life thereof; therefore I said unto the children of Israel: Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh; for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof; whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

Despite all this the children and adults throughout the Muslum world are taught that Jews kill non Jews for their blood:

• Syrian Politician Lt. Gen. Mustafa Tlass wrote a book in 1983 that was published by his own publishing company called Matzoh of Zion. It makes accusations that Jews use the blood of murdered non-Jews in religious rituals such as baking Matzah. Tlass has re-printed the book several times, and stands by its conclusions.

• The State Controlled Jordanian Media also feeds the blood libel. “Killing children according to Jewish faith” (Al-Arab al-Yaum, March 8, 2008 ), Muwaffaq Muhaddin writes as follows:
  
  
  
  
  

  a. The Jewish state established in the “plundered land of Palestine ” is based on “the scent of blood, the roasting, and the collective killing of children first, before the adults”. The author states that he first became aware of that “vile phenomenon” while conducting a “study” about the relation between anthropology and policy, published in a book called The Cycle of Jewish Religion (a historical “study” on Zionism and Judaism, published by Muhaddin). The author claims that the killing of children by the Jews is never a military accident but is rather deliberate, rooted in Jewish faith and supported in the history of the Jewish people.

  b. In order to “prove” that the Jews make use of children's blood, the author brings up the Damascus blood libel, according to which a boy from a Christian neighborhood of Damascus was kidnapped by Jewish rabbis and murdered in order to bake the “Matzo of Zion” (dating back to 1840, this blood libel is still a source of inspiration for anti-Semitic literature in Syria and a “proof” of the false claims raised by Arab anti-Semitists). The author notes that other such abductions took place elsewhere in the world, and that they are etched in the memory of other Christian neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and in Lithuania .

  c. The author presents his own “anthropological interpretation” of the blood libels. He claims that “roasting people” and “the scent of blood” are recurring elements in Biblical culture, since the God of the Jews (Jehovah) blesses Jewish soldiers when he smells victims being roasted. The author goes on to say that children, being pure, are known as the best victims, hence their use for ritual purposes. He also claims that the Jewish Talmud discusses the need for children's blood since it is unspoiled. Source

Those are just some of the examples using "classic blood libel imagery" There is an entirely new category, being invented in Muslim territories, and perpetuated in Western Press,and the United Nations. Its the same old Blood Libel theme and uses "Zionist" Jews as the target but it is meant to defame all Jews; The Jenin Massacre, the Shooting of Muhammed al Dura, Bombing of the UN School.


Most recently, there were the Blood Libels pushed by Ha'aretz, The Guardian, the NY Times and others, the IDF massacres that never happened.

The United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC)  is also famous for perpeturating the blood libel myth, by creating Human Rights charges against Israel that they dont make against countries that actually commit human rights violations. This is why its  disturbing that President Barack Obama has decided give the Council crediblity by joining the (HRC).

We tend to look at the blood libel myth as a relic from the dark ages, but it alive, well and appearing during Passover and the rest of the year, all accross the world, but especially in Muslim Countries.
