Rasmussen Reports More Bad Signs For Obama on Economy

President Obama may have been elected on the promise of economic change, but the latest Rasmussen Poll shows that American voters are not happy with the direction of that change.

Seventy-six percent (76%) of Americans say it is at least somewhat likely that a large amount of money in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan will be wasted due to inadequate government oversight.  Nearly half (46%) say it is very likely.

Remember the President's promise of better oversight.  Almost 2/3 of Americans don't believe him:

Fifty-nine percent (59%) of all Americans are not confident that taxpayer money will be wisely and carefully spent despite President Obama’s pledge of unprecedented oversight of all government spending. Just 36% of Americans are at least somewhat confident that taxpayer money will be wisely and carefully spent, but that’s down 10 points from February just after the president made his pledge, putting Vice President Joseph Biden in charge of oversight.

As reported earlier this week,while most voters still blame the Bush administration for the nation’s economic problems, a growing number are now inclined to blame the new president. And Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans believe the rest of the new government spending authorized in the stimulus plan should be canceled right ASAP!

Most voters (53%) believe increases in government spending hurt the economy.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of likely voters now expect their personal taxes That's up three points over the past two weeks,up eight points since the inauguration, and the highest level of concern measured to date. to rise under the Obama administration, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.


During last fall's campaign, then-candidate Obama pledged to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Just 26% of voters believe he has kept that promise.

Fifty-three percent (53%) say tax cuts help the economy, while 22% say they hurt the economy. 

On government spending, 73% expect it to rise under Obama, up six points over the past two weeks. That’s just one point from the highest level yet recorded.

Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters say increasing government spending hurts the economy, a figure that has shown little change over the past two weeks. Twenty-nine percent (29%) say increases in government spending helps the economy.

The plurality of voters (47%) says decreasing government spending helps the economy. More than one in four (28%) hold the opposite view and believesays that spending cuts hurt the economy.

America is sending the President a message, cut spending, cut taxes and cut waste.  While Obama talks a good game, it looks as if the effects of the "kool aid" is wearing off, and the President better stop talking AT the people and start listening TO the people, with Cap-and-trade and Obama Care coming quickly down the line, it is clear that the president is out of touch with the America.
