The Democratic Party CIVIL WAR Worsens

Despite the fact that the President is alternating between blaming those evil republicans and the evil insurance companies, the real hold up of Obamacare is the Civil War being waged in the Democratic party between the blue-dogs and the ultra liberals.

For example, yesterday the self-declared most powerful woman in the world, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, threw down the gauntlet:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the House will not pass a healthcare overhaul bill that doesn't include a new public insurance plan, according to a report by The Associated Press. Her line-in-the-sand announcement came at a news conference Thursday in San Francisco, adding fuel to the fire lit under the White House as it confronts a general liberal backlash for an apparent willingness to leave a public plan out of the final health bill.  Pelosi has said repeatedly that healthcare legislation in the House would have a public plan, but her statement Thursday left no room for doubt.  There's no way I can pass a bill in the House of Representatives without a public option, the California Democrat said.
Earlier this week , Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota, who is part of the Gang of six, trying to negotiate a bi-partisan deal, said that there is no way he could get the votes in the Senate to pass a public option.

Today, Pelosi's number two in the House Steny Hoyer, said that the public option may have to go in order to get a bill passed.
“I’m for a public option but I’m also for passing a bill,” Hoyer told reporters on a conference call. “We believe the public option is a necessary, useful and very important aspect of this, but we’ll have to see because there are many other important aspects of the bill as well.”
This fans the fires of people such as  NY Democrat, Anthony "the Weenie" Wiener announcing the other day that if the public option is taken off the table at least 100 democrats will vote NO.

And don't forget that the American People, who gives all of the above their jobs, do NOT want the Public Option.  Especially Older Americans, who are more likely to exercise their right to vote than younger Americans

The Next two weeks are going to be very important for both sides of the party.  As a political observer, this quagmire is going to be very interesting to watch.
