Bishop Giacomo Babini Blames The Jews for Attacks on Pope (Strange Way To Observe Holocaust Remembrance Day)

 At 10am today sirens were  sounded throughout Israel for two minutes. During this time, people cease from action and stand at attention; cars stopped, even if they were in the middle of a highway; the entire nation stops as people pay silent tribute to the 6 Million Jews murdered in the Holocaust. In Hebrew it is called Yom HaZikaron laShoah ve-laGvura, Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day, it is observed not only in Israel, but by Jews throughout the world. Many non-Jewish religious leaders use the Yom Hashoah observance as a teachable moment, preaching to their flocks about the evils of hatred.

One religious leader found a very strange way of observing Yom Hashoah this year, Bishop Giacomo Babini took the opportunity to blame the Jews for the recent attacks on the attacks on Pope regarding the possible cover-up of sex scandals surrounding priests.

Giacomo Babini, the retired Bishop of Grossetto, was quoted by an Italian Roman Catholic website called Pontifex as saying he believed a “Zionist attack” was behind the criticism of the Pope, given that it was “powerful and refined” in nature.


When the news of Babini's statement began to leak out, the retired Bishop strongly denied the statement. The Bishop vehemently denied making the statement. But the reporter who interviewed Babini for the website countered that the interview was on tape and he would release the audio tape if necessary to prove the truth of the statement.

Bishop Babini didn't stop there. He added that Jews “do not want the Church, they are its natural enemies ....Deep down, historically speaking, the Jews are deicides [God killers].”


That sounds more like Mel Gibson than a Catholic Bishop. Finally the Bishop remembered that it was Yom Hashoah so he said  Hitler was “not just mad” but had exploited German anger over the excesses of German Jews who in the 1930s had throttled the German economy.
