Dick Morris Says Clinton Personally Directed Waco Tragedy (And There's Something Big We Don't Know)

This past week Bill Clinton has been front and center, taking the lead responsibility for the progressive demonization of Tea Party protests by linking them to the Oklahoma City Bombing. On ABC's this week he said:
"The only point I tried to make was that we ought to have a lot of political dissent -- a lot of political argument. Nobody is right all the time. But we also have to take responsibility for the possible consequences of what we say."

..."I think we all have to be careful," Clinton said. "We ought to remember [that] after Oklahoma City we learned something about the difference in disagreement and demonization."
In response to Bill Clinton’s highly publicized linking of the Tea Party movement to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing former Clinton adviser Dick Morris appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox Show disclosing that it was Clinton himself, and not Attorney General Janet Reno, who called the shots during the 1993 botched FBI action that led to the death of seventy-six people (see video below)
“Let’s understand what was Timothy McVeigh’s motivation …he himself had said that it was the reaction to the Waco takeover. Bill Clinton orchestrated that takeover.”
“Clinton in fact was so ashamed about what he did in Waco that he was not going to appoint Janet Reno to a second four-year term. She told him in a meeting right before the inauguration day … ‘If you don’t appoint me I’m going to tell the truth about Waco.’ And that forced Clinton’s hand … It’s never been said  before.”
Morris ended up by saying that he never know what Reno's secret was. It certainly appears that Clinton is covering something up.
(If you cannot see video click here)

Bill Clinton has always argued that the Oklahoma City bombing was the fault of the "evil" criticism of federal officials in general and specifically his presidency.  And last he week followed up by accusing the Tea Party protesters of going down the same road. But the Oklahoma City bombers were motivated by Waco and Waco was Bill Clinton's screw up.  Maybe the former President wants to change his story.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air believes that Morris may be exaggerating a bit, read his take here

UPDATE: I Just received Dick Morris' newsletter. He spoke about the Waco story again:
Bill Clinton was far from blameless in the Waco attack. While he sought to shift the responsibility to Attorney General Janet Reno, acting as if he were merely a by-stander, subsequent histories make it clear that he was smarting from criticism that the failure of the feds to act and their continued toleration of the siege showed him to be too weak to be a good president. He would often complain about the unfairness of this coverage to me as he recounted the events leading up to the Waco raid.
To my eyes, Morris seems to be backing away from what he said on Hannity last night, I have contacted his office and will let you know when I receive an answer.

UPDATE TWO: Morris totally backed away from the Hannity Statement this morning on Fox and Friends.  There was no threat from Reno. She didn't threaten Clinton. She Asked him to appoint her for one more year, because if he fired her then people would think that she was being fired for Waco. From that Morris ASSUMED Clinton had more to do with it. Sorry folks, I thought that a former Presidential Adviser wouldn't not make a serious charge like that if it did not have some truth behind it. My bad, Morris "got me" this time. It won't happen twice.

Whether Clinton or Reno directed the operation that led to the Waco Massacre is not significant. What IS significant is that McVeigh publicly said the Oklahoma City bombing was a response to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT's murder of 76 people at Waco (yes, Koresh actually lit the fuse, but he was goaded into it by the Clinton/Reno actions, and Clinton/Reno knew what Koresh would do if he were pushed).

So Bubba is either totally tone deaf or totally deranged to be bringing up Oklahoma City. My money is on the latter.
