New Pew Study, Most Americans Share Opinions With Tea Party

The latest poll from Pew Research could have been written straight out interviews with tea partiers. Nearly 80 percent of Americans say they have little faith that the bloated federal bureaucracy can solve the nation's problems. The study shows public confidence in the federal government at one of the lowest points in a half-century.

The poll released Sunday illustrates that the argument advanced by the Tea Party Patriots are indicative of the entire US population.

Only 22 percent of those questioned say they can trust Washington almost always or most of the time and just 19 percent say they are basically content with it. Nearly half say the government has a negative effect on their every day life. The Pew Poll shows that there is a combination of conditions associated with distrust of government, a dismal economy, an unhappy public, bitter partisan-based backlash, and epic discontent with Congress and elected officials driving public opinion.

Americans think that Congress and to a lesser degree the President is doing a lousy job. 40% say the administration does an excellent or good job while just 17% say the same about Congress. Comparatively, average trust in government overall is much lower during the administration of Barack Obama than any other president in Pew Research history.

But what the people really want is less government. The size and power of the federal government also engender considerable concern. A 52% say it is a major problem that the government is too big and powerful, while 58% say that the federal government is interfering too much in state and local matters.

There is much more in the Pew Study all of it proves the Tea Party patriots attitudes are fairly representative of the entire US. And despite all of the satire and ridicule coming from the progressives in the Mainstream Media and the federal government, the Tea Party attitude held by most Americans spells bad news for incumbents in 2010.
