Obama Takes a MAJOR Step Back From His Tax Pledge???? But The President Is an Honorable Man

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”

Millions of people voted for President Obama based on that promise.  The future President did not waver in that promise, he said no kind of taxes for people making less than $250,000 and Barack Obama is an honorable man he wouldn't break a promise like that.

During the debate on Health Care, Press Secretary Gibbs backed up the firmness of his boss' pledge:

Q    The President's opposition to tax increases for the middle income.  Does that apply to the health care bill, and specifically to this idea about taxing health insurance premiums?
MR. GIBBS:  Taxing?
Q    Health insurance premiums.
MR. GIBBS:  Well, I mean it's -- the statement didn't come with caveats.

Robert Gibbs is an Honorable Man, he would not make a definitive comment like that if it wasn't true.

Granted, when he signed the Obamacare bill it had a long list of taxes directed toward the middle class, but in the President's Defense how could he be expected to read a bill he was signing, after all, the people who wrote it and passed it didn't read it either. After all the President is an honorable man, he wouldn't knowingly break his tax promise.




Today the President announced the first meeting of his "cut the deficit commission." You know the one the President had to set up by executive order because Senate Republicans accused the President of wanting the commission just to provide him with cover for when he back off of his no taxes for  families making less than $250,000 pledge.  Those Senators are wrong, Barack Obama made that pledge many times, Robert Gibbs backed him up, they are honorable men. He would never pull back from so firm a promise.

While introducing his commission today the President said:

“Our friends in the media, will ask me and others once a week or once a day about what we’re willing to rule out or rule in,”  he said, “That’s an old Washington game and it’s one that has made it all but impossible in the past for people to sit down and have an honest discussion about putting our country on a more secure fiscal footing.  So I want to deliver this message today:  We’re not playing that game.  I’m not going to say what’s in.  I’m not going to say what’s out.  I want this commission to be free to do its work.”

HUH? Wait? A Political Game?  But.... he said no taxes for families making less than...And the President is an honorable...OH HELL.... Betters start saving up the cash folks a, the GOP was correct this whole time, the middle class is screwed.
