Congressman Cleaver Caught in Lie About The Loogie Heard Round The World

It was the loogie heard round the world. As he walked toward the stairs of the Capitol building for the debate on Obamacare, Congressman Rep. Emanuel Cleaver claimed that he was purposely spat upon by a tea party activist. In video of the incident, a man is seen with his hands around his mouth and yelling at the Kansas City, Missouri, Democrat as he walked by. The footage shows Rep. Cleaver reacting to the man, and is seen a few seconds later wiping his face. It was an obvious case of "say it don't spray it."

This past Tuesday Cleaver was asked about the incident by the local Fox affiliate, WDAF-TV in Kansas City, but he  would not directly answer the question of whether or not he was intentionally spit upon.
"I haven't talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I've been approached to talk about it on every national TV show," said Rep. Cleaver in an interview with FOX 4 News. "I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing. People assume I went somewhere, never done press conference, never done an interview on it and I'm not going to do it."
Well Congressman Cleaver is lying, on the day of the incident, his office released a statement not only confirming that he had been spat upon but saying it is not the first time.
“This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.”

The statement added Saturday’s incident was not the first time Cleaver and others had been spit on.

“For many of the members of the CBC, like John Lewis and Emanuel Cleaver who worked in the civil rights movement, and for Mr. Frank who has struggled in the cause of equality, this is not the first time they have been spit on during turbulent times.”
Rep. Cleaver told WDAF-TV that he wants to put the incident behind him. Of course he does, because he wants to avoid the question of did he lie about the entire thing? After all he has gotten caught lying about not making a fuss regarding the incident.
"All I'm saying is we all have to diffuse it, and I think it is not in my best interest or in the best interest of this nation to stoke it," said Rep. Cleaver. "I've avoided doing and I will continue to do it."
I disagree, It is in the best interests of both the district you represent and the nation. We need to know whether you made up an incident just to cast aspersions on a grass roots movement of the American people, or you are suffering from such a bad case of dementia that you cannot remember how you reacted to an incident that happened less than two weeks ago. Either way, it signals that you are not qualified to sit in the office you have been elected to serve.

Mrs Cleaver, the Beaver is lying again.
