This weekend the President and his troops kept pushing the lie about the Chamber of Commerce and foreign donations. David Axelrod continued the administration's offensive against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and conservative groups Sunday, saying there had to be a shady reason behind non-disclosure of donors who were helping fund the groups' campaign ads. Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday, Axelrod said journalists needed to probe the source of the groups' donations.
"They say, trust us, trust us, we're -- everything is cool, everything is kosher, don't worry about it, but we're not going to disclose," Axelrod said. "Let me tell you something, people don't disclose, there's a reason."
Truth is this claim by the administration has been declared as nonsense by Democrat and Republican alike. Even the Presidential Cheering section, the mainstream media, has declared this argument a lie. What is Truth, Republican Candidates received around a half million dollars from foreign affiliate PAC, also true is the fact that the Democrats receive
twice that amount.
House and Senate Democrats have received approximately $1.02 million this cycle from such PACs, according to an analysis compiled for The Hill by the Center for Responsive Politics. House and Senate GOP leaders have taken almost $510,000 from PACs on the same list.
The PACS are funded entirely by contributions from U.S. employees of subsidiaries of foreign companies. All of the contributions are made public under Federal Elections Commission rules, and the PACs affiliated with the subsidiaries of foreign corporations are governed by the same rules that American firms' PACs or other PACs would face.
"This is not foreign money per-se, but these PACs are certainly populated by people who work for foreign companies," said Dave Levinthal, a spokesman for the Center for Responsive Politics.
“Foreign companies and foreign governments can lobby Congress, and that is probably one area where they have a measurable effect on politics,” Levinthal explained. “Foreign-subsidiary political action committees is about as close as you can get.”
Why isn't the President talking about the foreign PAC money? The truth hurts a good political lie.
Republicans with groups under fire from the White House say the hefty campaign contributions illustrate Democratic hypocrisy.
“Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court and his adversaries over the bogus charge of foreign money tainting elections – while leaders in his own party had taken more than a million dollars from the foreign cookie jar,” said Jonathan Collegio, a spokesman for American Crossroads, the political group at the center of the controversy.
“The hypocrisy here is just stunning,” he said.
American Crossroads, which is backed in part by former Bush White House officials Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, has come under fire from the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress for allegedly using donations from abroad to fuel their political efforts.
Neither the Democratic or Republican donations are illegal or unethical. The only thing unethical is the president telling lies, or insinuating wrong-doing in the name of politics. And as for the Chamber of Commerce revealing its donors, there is a legitimate reason for them holding them close to the vest. The Chamber knows that the administration will go after chamber donors the same way it went after Glenn Beck advertisers. You see one of Barack Obama's titles is Bully-in-Chief.

Why, oh why, are we surprised when the current administration pushes this sort of nonsense? And asking journalists to investigate - would these be the same journalists who ignore stories "inconvenient" to the Dems?
FYI, I just finished reading about the individual races in the upcoming elections in a new one-off magazine called “Can Conservatives Unite to take Back America” – it was a surprisingly good read – practically an event program for the current House and Senate races – I plan to use it to track election night results ;) I found it QUITE interesting that this very topical books was shoved waaaaay in the back of the racks by store employees....
