Helen Thomas Whines About Israel's Hold On The US Media, But CNN's Soledad O'Brien Lets Her Off The Hook

Will Somebody teach Soledad O'Brien how to interview?  Tonight on CNN's "Situation Room." Helen Thomas, who was unceremoniously booted from her Hearst Job and the White House briefing room last year for telling Jews to "get the hell out of Palestine" and go back to Germany and Poland, railed against what she viewed as an a ban against attacking Israel.  She told O'Brien that any time you criticize Israel, you are considered Antisemitic. A natural question would be;  who considers you Antisemitic and how are they able to get someone fired? Is Thomas implying that the Jews run the media?

Unfortunately Helen Thomas doesn't get it, and interviewer Soledad O'Brien did not ask the questions that would have helped the viewer to understand what was behind Helen Thomas' statements. (if you cannot see two videos below, please click here)

SOLEDAD O'BRIEN: Do you think that you made a mistake and deserved to be fired?

HELEN THOMAS: Hell no.

O'BRIEN: Why do you think they fired you?

THOMAS: Don't touch the third rail, which is Israel. You can never mention Israel without being immediately called anti-Semitic, lose your job, or anything else.

Sorry Helen but no one gets fired for being critical of Israel, not even in Israel.

Her comments back in June were anti-Semitic, she told Israeli Jews to go back to Germany and Poland [where they faced the horrors of the Holocaust].  Even if you want to give her the benefit of the doubt that her June comments weren't Anti-Semitic, her speech at Wayne State at the beginning of December left no doubt.



During her December speech at Wayne State, at a conference discussing discrimination against Arabs she launched into an anti-Semitic tirade about how those rich Jews control America

Thomas talked about "the whole question of money involved in politics."

"We are owned by propagandists against the Arabs. There's no question about that. Congress, the White House, and Hollywood, Wall Street, are owned by the Zionists. No question in my opinion. They put their money where there mouth is…We're being pushed into a wrong direction in every way.

It was almost as if Thomas was reading directly from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, at an anti-Bias conference!!!

During her interview and speech, Thomas often used the term "Zionists" negatively, saying that Dennis Ross, President Obama's adviser to the Middle East, was a Zionist.

"Obama, he puts in charge for the Arab world a Zionist like Dennis Ross…You don't put a Zionist in charge of the Muslim world in the White House."

Gee Whiz Ms O'Brien, do you think you could have asked her a question or two about her Wayne State Speech?

There are some people who believe that any criticism of Israel is Antisemitism. That belief is as ignorant as Antisemitism itself. There is however, a great deal of crossover between hatred of Israel and hatred of the Jews. To find out what people really mean you need to examine the words they use. Make no mistake about it, Thomas uttered the word "Zionists" but her words showed that she meant the word "Jews."  What Thomas said in December, that Congress, the White House, Hollywood and Wall Street are owned by Zionists, was a repetition of the anti-Semitic stereotypes that have been used for centuries to incite hatred of Jews. Ms. Thomas is nothing but a bigoted hater and that was the reason she was fired, not because she hates Israel (most of the progressive media is anti-Israel). She was canned because she is a low-life hater, and anti-Semite.

It's a shame that Soledad O'Brien did not have either the guts or the journalistic skills to ask the questions necessary to expose her.
