Sen Schumer Forgets to Check For Reporters on the Phone Line-Gets Caught With His Foot in His Mouth

Today Schumer got caught creating a "BS story" for America.  Unaware that reporters were already listening in, Schumer put his foot in his mouth instructing other Democratic senators to call Republicans "extreme" when it comes to proposing budget cuts.

Schumer was on a conference call with a bunch of reporters. Before the call was scheduled to begin, Schumer was instructing his fellow senators on what to say to the press, but he didn't realize that the reporters were already on the line.

After thanking his colleagues — Barbara Boxer of California, Ben Cardin of Maryland, Tom Carper of Delaware and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut — for doing the budget bidding for the Senate Democrats, who are facing off against the House Republicans over how spending for the rest of the fiscal year, Mr. Schumer told them to portray John Boehner of Ohio, the Speaker of the House, as painted into a box by the Tea Party, and to decry the spending cuts that he wants as extreme. “I always use the word extreme,” Mr. Schumer said, “That is what the caucus instructed me to use this week.”

A minute or two into the talking-points tutorial, though, someone apparently figured out that reporters were listening, and silence fell.

Then the conference call began in earnest, with the Democrats right on message.



“We are urging Mr. Boehner to abandon the extreme right wing,” said Ms. Boxer, urging the House to compromise on the scale of spending cuts and to drop proposed amendments that would deny federal financing for Planned Parenthood and for government agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency.

If Chuck Schumer was not a United States Senator, he would be one of those slimy lawyers who chase ambulances and funeral processions ignoring the feelings of crash victims and/or their families just so he can hand off his business cards and gain more business.

But Politics is the NY Senator's chosen profession, instead of chasing ambulances he chases TV  camera's so he can get air time, instead of ignoring the feelings of crash victims, he ignores the feelings of voters. The arrogance of Chuck Schumer is the arrogance of all progressives, he knows better than the rest of us, in fact he doesn't work for the voters but only for himself and his cronies. Voters are to be treated like ignorant children, to be talked at just to be "mined" for votes.  This is one more example of Schumer's disdain for the voters, not only for trying to pin an "extreme" label on the Tea Party, but for thinking the American people will actually believe his "politics as usual" labeling.
