Barney Frank Goes Nuts About Leader Cantor's Bin Laden Comments

It may be time for Barney Frank to switch to decaf. The congressman who won the "Most to Help Fannie And Freddie Destroy the Economy" award during the last Congress is upset with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's reaction to the news of the death of Bin Laden.

Cantor had the nerve to say said Obama had "followed the vigilance of President Bush in bringing Bin Laden to justice."

But to Frank mentioning Bush was a no, no.

"Let’s give discredit where it is due," Frank told the liberal blog ThinkProgress. "For Eric Cantor to phrase it that way, to say [Obama] followed the vigilance of President Bush is a degree of key partisanship that exceeded what I even expected from Cantor. That’s just sad."

...."If Bush had gotten Osama after Clinton had failed do you think Eric Cantor would’ve given Clinton credit and said, 'Oh good Bush got Osama bin Laden, he showed the same vigilance as Bill Clinton?' " he asked. "No. Not even close."

Republicans say they're not the only one injecting politics into the situation; they say Frank's statement itself politicizes the debate, and that he and Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.), who each issued politically-tinged statements claiming credit for Obama, should recognize Bush's role in bin Laden's capture, as Republicans have.

After seeing the promo, I can advise Elmer Fudd Barney Frank to avoid watching the O'Reilly factor tonight, Congressman Peter King tells the Fox Star that the initial piece of intelligence, the nickname of the courier who's house Bin Laden was living in, was gotten via water boarding during the Bush Administration.  Sorry Barney, I guess Eric Cantor was correct.

Current and former U.S. officials say that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, provided the nom de guerre of one of bin Laden's most trusted aides. The CIA got similar information from Mohammed's successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi. Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania.
