Allow me to begin this post with a question, if you were a country preparing for war, would you tell the press? And if you were going to leak it to the press would you tell a person who has shown nothing but true disdain for your country and people of your faith?
Yet that is what MJ Rosenberg expects us to believe. Israel is preparing for war with Iran, and the usually secretive Israeli government is letting MMFA's Rosenberg know in advance what they are doing. I am sure that somewhere in his massive ego, Rosenberg believes that Israel has chosen him precisely because he is a leader in promoting the anti-Semitism coming out of Media Matters for America and its parent, Center for American Progress.
In his latest article, the Center For American Progress' house Jew hating-Jew, MJ Rosenberg is trying to convince the public that Israel and the Jewish lobby is clamoring for war.
Look at Iran. Through the power of our diplomacy, a world that was once divided about how to deal with Iran's nuclear program now stands as one. The regime is more isolated than ever before; its leaders are faced with crippling sanctions, and as long as they shirk their responsibilities, this pressure will not relent. Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal. Those dammed Joooooze, there they go wanting war again. And who did they decide to tell..good Ole MJ Rosenberg, the guy who says the Jews control the media, the Jews control the government and of course American Jews' loyalty is divided between Americans and Israel.
But a peaceful resolution of this issue is still possible, and far better, and if Iran changes course and meets its obligations, it can rejoin the community of nations.
Obama's remarks were measured. The first part was tough, almost threatening, ending with a clear allusion to the possibility of war.
The shorter second part referring to a "peaceful resolution" spoke to the president's preference: avoiding another Middle East war.
So how did Congress react?
It was silent until Obama stated that he would take "no options off the table." That allusion to war caused the chamber to erupt in cheers. The second piece, the reference to a "peaceful resolution" was met with silence, except for scattered applause from perhaps a dozen legislators.
Bergman's article (like Goldberg's earlier piece) is designed to keep things just this way. Sanctions up to a point. War, if deemed necessary, farther down the road. And ideally a war fought by the United States and not Israel, to preserve not Israel's security but its regional hegemony.
If the American people allow that to happen, we are truly out of our minds.
The good news is that President Ahmadinejad now says he is ready for negotiations (whether the country's supreme leader is may be another story). How about President Obama just agreeing to talk — for once without conditions dictated by the pro-war lobby.
But who am I kidding? It is the lobby, and its cutouts in Congress, who are driving this issue. And they want war. That is probably one reason Goldberg and Bergman are so sure it will happen. The lobby usually gets what it wants.
The fact is most of the people who actually know what is going on, such as Dr. Barry Rubin, who have contacts in the Israeli Government under stand that they have long since ruled out an air attack on Iran,
Yet any serious consideration of this scenario — based on actual research and real analysis rather than what the uninformed assemble in their own heads or Israeli leaders sending a message to create a situation where an attack isn’t necessary — is this: It isn’t going to happen. The difference between the two is Dr. Rubin has regular discussion with key people in the Israeli government--he knows what he is talking about.
Indeed, the main leak from the Israeli government, by an ex-intelligence official who hates Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been that the Israeli government already decided not to attack Iran. He says that he worries this might change in the future but there’s no hint that this has happened or will happen. Defense Minister Ehud Barak has publicly denied plans for an imminent attack as have other senior government officials.
Of course, one might joke that the fact that Israeli leaders talk about attacking Iran is the biggest proof that they aren’t about to do it. But Israel, like other countries, should be subject to rational analysis. Articles written by others are being spun as saying Israel is going to attack when that’s not what they are saying. I stand by my analysis and before December 31 we will see who was right. I’m not at all worried about stating very clearly that Israel is not going to go to war with Iran.
Perhaps MJ Rosenberg is filled with vitriol against the Jews and Israel because people who actually know what is going on, wont give him the time of day. They see hims as a Jewish anti-Semite who perpetuates stereo-types made famous in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
MJ Rosenberg and his handlers at Media Matters for America and Center for American progress will do anything they can to ignore the facts and cause hatred toward Jews and Israel. It is the policy of progressives, their puppet master George Soros, and their President Barack Obama.
