You Will LOVE This GOP Candidate For Utah's 4th Congressional District

In a way Mia Love, reminds me of Marco Rubio. She was born into a family of Haitian immigrants, she has deeply rooted values, love for this country, and guiding conservative principles. Just like Rubio, her parent instilled in her a sense of responsibility, not a desire for hand-outs. She remembers what her father said to her as she entered college:
"Mia, your mother and I never took a handout.
You will not be a burden to society. You will give back."
Also like Rubio, with just a few months before the GOP candidate is chosen, she trails the leaders. The poll shows Sandstrom and Wimmer in a dead heat for the GOP nomination, with Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love hanging close. State delegates next spring will choose a nominee or send two candidates to a primary election. Much of the reason she now trails is that only 31% of voters in the district has heard of the Mayor. As her name recognition grows, so will her support, she is just that type of person.

If elected, Love will become the first Republican black woman to serve in the United States House of Representatives. But even more important is the fact that she would be another conservative voice in the house. And by conservative, I mean she is on the right side of the issues and she is not afraid to fight for the right thing.

As mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Love is best known for her conservative positions on limited government, increased citizen liberties and limited restraints on business. She has run the city by staying out of the way of business and out of the lives of citizens. She advocates a return to the personal responsibility and reduced government dependency engendered by her father. Nearly a decade of weekly policy decisions reflecting these ideals makes her exceptionally experienced and qualified to do what needs to be done in Washington, DC--cut programs, cut spending, cut taxes and get the government's boot of the neck of business and citizens so they can grow and the economy can thrive.

As Mayor, Mia Love:
  • Aided in an economic boom by transitioning agricultural fields to booming residential communities.
  •  Cut spending, by decreasing budgets as much as 30% and 67% in other areas during economic setbacks.
  • Reduced residential property taxes which resulted in Saratoga Springs receiving the highest Standard and Poors municipal rating.
Love has already formed "friendships" with the right people, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy and Rep. Paul Ryan have all made donations to her campaign.
She has also irked the right people, recently she stood up to the Congressional Black Caucus, with some very public criticism regarding their attack on the Tea Party:
I respect the desire of the CBC to provide for the needs of the poor communities they serve. However, I reject the notion that dependency on government is the answer. We spend nearly $1 trillion a year on means-tested poverty programs in this country. But those programs have done little to stem the tide of poverty in America. We can no longer afford to keep spending money on programs that aren’t working. Trimming government and getting it out of the way of economic recovery is the best way to create jobs and wealth that enable people to pull themselves out of poverty.
If elected, she says that she would join the caucus to shake it up a bit
"Yes, yes. I would join the Congressional Black Caucus and try to take that thing apart from the inside out," she said.

Though officially nonpartisan, the caucus has been more closely identified with the Democratic Party.

"It’s demagoguery. They sit there and ignite emotions and ignite racism when there isn’t," Love said. "They use their positions to instill fear. Hope and change is turned into fear and blame. Fear that everybody is going lose everything and blaming Congress for everything instead of taking responsibility."
Today, Ms Love's campaign released this short biographical video:

Mia Love is exactly the type of person we need in Congress, my only issue with her is that she will not move to NY and run in my district.  I urge you all to go to her website and keep an eye on Ms Love's candidacy...she is a winner, and we should do everything we can to make sure she wins the GOP nomination and the general election in Utah's 4th Congressional District.

Mia is the perfect antidote for a Congress going nowhere. We need many more like her. Senator Patty Murray said we need more women in Congress. I don't think that she was talking about Mia. Go to http://chuckslowe.com/?p=32086 to read my current blog about this remarkable young woman.

We've gotta support her by sending a few bucks her way. No way we can pass up this opportunity!
