The Disgusting Exploitation of the Trayvon Martin Case

As the father of two children, the youngest of which is the same age as Trayvon Martin, I cannot begin to comprehend the horror his parents are feeling. Just the thought of it makes me tear up.  What they have said about the shooting of their son comes from raw emotion and a visceral pain that no parent should have to feel.

What happened between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman was an awful tragedy. There is only one thing we know for sure about the incident that led to Zimmerman shooting Martin--- we don't know what happened.

Some people believe it was racial pointing to the 911 call where Zimmerman muttered something under his breath that some listeners say sounds like a racial slur, others who have heard it disagree.

Others say race had nothing to do with it... it was self defense pointing to the fact that three people witnessed Martin beating up on Zimmerman (he was bloodied when the police showed up at the scene).

I cannot tell you who's version is correct and right now neither can anyone else.  A special prosecutor has been appointed and until the investigation is completed no one has the right to call it anything.

That, however hasn't stopped people from acting like vultures, exploiting  the death of Trayvon Martin and the horror felt by his family for their own personal agenda.

Professional bigot Al Sharpton has been appearing at rallies with Martin's parents to call for an arrest, said the Justice Department should investigate the case as a hate crime. That the facts of the case are still unknown does not slow down this supposed "Reverend"
"Any time you have a pattern of engagement based on someone's having a particular group in mind, that qualifies for hate crime inquiry," Sharpton said.
Sharpton doesn't know if that is true..but he still carries on.  MSNBC supports Sharpton's poisonous actions by allowing him to cover the story in which he is an active participant.

The fake Reverend has made a career of creating hatred, be it Tawana Brawley, the Crown Height pogrom firebombing at Freddy's  Fashion Mart, and so many others.  It seems a bit disingenuous for Sharpton to call for a hate crime investigation when he has committed so many on his own.

Then there is another "Reverend" who has forgot the teaching of his seminary. Jackson is a civil rights leader desperately looking for a following to reclaim the good old days, but in his feebleness he lives in yesterday and doesn't quite "get" today. But he never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Preaching in at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, Fla yesterday, Jackson called Martin a "martyr," and led the congregation in a chant: "Stop the violence. Save the children."

Jackson has no idea what happened but that doesn't stop the guy from inciting a crowd, but for a guy looking to reclaim the importance he had in his youth, incitement is good business.

The New Black Panther party, famous for the Justice Department dropping charges against them for voter intimidation solely because of the color of their skin has has also chimed in. Members of the New Black Panther Party offered a $10,000 reward for the "capture" of George Zimmerman (who has been in hiding since the incident).

New Black Panther leader Mikhail Muhammad announced the reward during a protest in Sanford Saturday. And when asked whether he was inciting violence, Muhammad replied defiantly: "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." Muhammad doesn't have to worry about any consequences of his actions as he assumes Eric Holder will let him off the hook like last time.

Chuck Schumer tried to score political points a press conference calling for the investigation of "stand your ground" laws,  but you can't really blame the NY Senator because of his addiction.  Apparently Schumer suffers from extreme withdrawal if he doesn't appear before a TV camera every 30 minutes.

Spike Lee tweeted Zimmerman's address and invited his 245 thousand followers to retweet it across the internet. I guess it was time for this "one percent-er" to look as if he cared about his roots.  I hope one day to find Lee's home address and make it go viral, that would be doing the right thing.

Perhaps the worst offender is the President of the United States.
'I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen,' Obama told reporters when asked about the case during the Rose Garden press conference.

'And that means we examine the laws, the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.'

'But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin: If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are gonna take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.'
What a true leader of the United States should have done is called for calm, recognize that a special prosecutor has been appointed and urge people to wait for the results of that investigation. I soul search every day, but I am at a loss to understand what he means about soul searching except perhaps racial relations. It seems that he injected race into a situation that we don't as yet know was racial. He never explained what he meant by "If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon," but to this observer it seems as if he was prematurely injecting race into the situation.

Obama is facing a tough reelection effort injecting race where it may not belong is a great way to rally his progressive base but an awful way to lead a country.  Something we learned about this President almost from day one is his political aspirations come before the needs of the country (for example the Keystone pipeline).

Whatever actually happened between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman the shooting was an awful tragedy. What makes this horrible situation even more tragic are the vultures using the shooting to advance their own political reputation.  They should all be ashamed, but judging who we are talking about...sadly they have no shame.
