When the Mel Gibson movie about the Jewish hero Judah the Maccabee, green-lighted by Warner Brothers this past September was suddenly put on hold by the studio last month screen reporters didn't understand Warner's silence as to the reason behind their action. However yesterday that all changed as the entertainment industry website Wrap.com obtained a scathing letter by the movie's screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas (who wrote Flashdance and Basic Instinct) to Gibson accusing the star of making Anti-Semitic statements as well as threatening to kill the mother of his baby girl Oksana Grigorieva.
Everything Eszterhas said in the letter has been said before, but this was supposed to be Gibson's "redemption" project. But according to Eszterhas (who is not Jewish) Gibson sabotaged the project because of his hatred of Jews.
Some of the accusations made by Eszterhas in this scathing nine page letter included what many had already assumed, that Gibson announced the project “in an attempt to deflect continuing charges of anti-Semitism which have dogged you, charges which have crippled your career.”
"You continually called Jews 'Hebes' and 'oven-dodgers' and 'Jewboys.' It seemed that most times when we discussed someone, you asked 'He’s a Hebe, isn’t he?' You said most 'gatekeepers' of American companies were 'Hebes' who 'controlled their bosses.'"And Ari Emanuel, the head of the William Morris Endeavor Agency: "He's a c*nt Jewboy."
The slurs continued, through their work:
“You said the Holocaust was 'mostly a lot of horseshit.' You said the Torah made reference to the sacrifice of Christian babies and infants. When I told you that you were confusing the Torah with The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, ... you insisted 'it's in the Torah -- it's in there!' (It isn't)."
And he said Gibson told him that his intention in making “The Maccabees” was “to convert the Jews to Christianity.”
Eszterhaus also detailed Gibson's threats against his ex-wife, Oksana Gregorieva.
“You were raving at Oksana even after you’d reached a custody agreement over Luci,” their daughter, the letter says. “And then you were even more explicit about your threat: “I’m going to kill her! I’m going to have her killed!” You said you’d become friends with two FBI agents (or former FBI agents) and they were going to help you to kill her.”He also added this "gem" about the mother of his child:
"I want to f**k her in the ass and stab her while I'm doing it."Eszterhas claims Mel even ranted against John Lennon: "
I'm glad he's dead. He deserved to be shot. He was f**king messianic. Listen to his songs! Imagine. I hate that f**king song. I'm glad he's dead."Gibson’s career reads like a Shakespearean Tragedy. After becoming arguably the biggest star in Hollywood he began spewing hatred against different ethnic groups, much of it against the Jews (or as he has called them before “oven dodgers). Gibson’s hatred nearly destroyed his career turning him into at best a b-player.
The Maccabee move was not the first time Gibson has tackled Jewish History, although his previous forays were limited to unfortunate statements. In 2004 Gibson was interviewed by Peggy Noonan for Readers Digest. Noonan asked Gibson if he believed the Holocaust happened. He answered by questioning the number of Jews slaughtered by the Nazi’s and seemed to down play the Holocaust as a Jewish experience.
“I mean when the war was over they said it was 12 million. Then it was six. Now it's four. I mean it's that kind of numbers game. I mean war is horrible. The Second World War killed tens of millions of people. Some of them were Jews in concentration camps. Many people lost their lives. In the Ukraine, several million people starved to death between 1932 and 1933. During the last century 20 million people died in the Soviet Union. Okay? It's horrible.”These are just a few of many Anti-Jewish acts made by Gibson, the most famous of which occurred during a drunk driving arrest in 2006 when he kept screaming referring to “f***ing Jews” and later stated that “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world”
Mel Gibson doesn't just hate Jews, ex-wives, and dead Beatles--he hates everybody. In 2010 he was caught on taped conversation with his estranged wife spewing hate speech about African-Americans who he called niggers and Latinos (or as he called them "wetbacks"). After those tapes were released, most people with at least half a brain were convinced the actor was nothing but venomous hater (as if to prove my point Whoopie Goldberg was not convinced).
If the Eszterhas letter is accurate, the Maccabee movie may very well be the final nail in the coffin of Gibson's movie career. Not because he hates Jews, but because he is a very sick man who hates all ethnic groups. Producing a movie is a major investment for a movie studio and they will not feel confident the former movie star wont go "off the cliff" again and sabotage their profit.
Many readers have questioned Eszterhaus' claims, he says he has proof:
