Forget Trump--Why Won't Obama Disavow Al Sharpton?

The spin is running across the internet.  Donald Trump supports Mitt Romney--Donald  Trump is a Birther---why doesn't Mitt Romney disavow Donald Trump?  David Graham asked that very question in a column at the Atlantic today, but Graham isn't the only one.

Romney has disavowed the birther position but the liberal press wants Romney to somehow trash trump personally. I happen to agree with George Will when he said that Trump's birtherism makes him look like a bloviating ignoramus. In fact I put all birthers in that category.


Trumps birtherism is rather benign, its  only result is self-inflicted loss of respect.


There is a question the media should be asking but wont...Why won't Barack Obama disavow a man who led two anti-Semitic pogroms in New York.  I am talking about his part time adviser and full time support "Reverend" Al Sharpton.


Twenty-one years ago this coming August a tragic car accident in Crown Heights Brooklyn escalated into a pogrom against the Jewish people, thanks in part to this faux-preacher. The media gives this pogrom a politically correct description, violence between the area's Blacks and Jews. They ignore the fact that the violence was not two-sided. The Crown Heights riot was an attack on the Jews by the neighborhood's Caribbean community.


Sharpton's role in Crown Heights was to build black Antisemitism in the city before the riots, lying to the Caribbean community about how the tragedy took place and  how the Jews reacted. He continued to fan the flames of violence with lies and attacks during the course of the pogrom (A full account of the Crown Heights Pogrom can be found here).

Angelina Marrero . . . Cynthia Martinez . . . Luz Ramos . . . Mayra Rentas . . . Olga Garcia . . . Garnette Ramautar . . . Kareem Brunner their names will forever be remembered as the seven victims of the massacre at Freddy's Fashion Mart.  Their deaths can be traced to the anti-Semitic incitement of one man.. the faux Reverend Al Sharpton.

I am saying to the Jewish community and specifically to Abraham Foxman, that you come out and utter a word, accusatory remark against Reverend Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Donna Wilson, Reverend Shields, or Gary Byrd, we will boycott you and nobody loves money any more than the Jewish people. During the late fall and early winter of 1995 Sharpton incited Jew-hatred on his radio show and led protests against a Jewish-owned store which resulted in the store's firebombing and the death of those seven victims and the bomber (a full accounting of the Freddy's Fashion Mart massacre and Sharpton's involvement can be found here).

The media is calling for Mitt Romney to disavow Donald Trump, but real estate baron is simply making himself look foolish. Al Sharpton led two anti-Semitic pogroms one of with resulted in the death of seven innocents.  Why isn't the media calling for Obama to disavow Al Shapton?
