Charlie Crist=Arlen Specter Redux

Some people are actually surprised that Charlie Crist has written an op ed called Barack Obama, the Right Leader for Our Times, and is even speaking at the Democratic Convention. Understand the poor guy has no where else to go.

After considering himself 'heir apparent" for the Florida Senate seat two years ago, something strange happened...he didn't get the nomination. Instead it went to someone more qualified, Marco Rubio.  After getting over the shock, Charlie decided to run as an independent and lost  badly to Marco Rubio. His independent run shattering any chance of rehabilitation within the party (parties usually don't like it when a losing candidate runs as an independent-unless of course if they win).

It must kill poor Charlie to see Senator Rubio considered a future leader of the GOP. So Charlie is doing the only thing he can do...pull an Arlen Specter.  And like Arlen Specter, after he is used for the convention Christ will be a pariah to the Democrats also. He hasn't switched parties yet, but that will be coming.

It was just two years ago that the Democrat in the Senate race, Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) of Florida Meek cut an ad with quotes from Crist professing his stance as a “pro-life, pro-gun, anti-tax Republican” who was “impressed” by Sen. John McCain of Arizona’s selection of then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on the GOP presidential ticket in 2008.

In fact in the video below Charlie Crist says that Sarah Palin would make a better president than Barack Obama

Makes one wonder if Crist actually believed what he said about Obama back then or now?  Or is poor Charlie just a political opportunist looking for a party to love him.   As Arlen Specter proved,  nobody likes a party switching opportunist.

Just a note... Crist did not run under the "Indpendent Party' . he just ran as an 'independent'. That was made very clear all throughout the primary for the FL Senate. That is a big difference. Again, he did NOT register with the Independent Party and run as their Candidate. Thanks. And yes, we are glad he lost.
