Holy Cow! Tell me again about Obama's concern for Israel. Tonight on 60 Minutes he refered to Bibi Netanyahu's call for a the US to establish a red line for Iran as just noise to be ignored.
Obama, interviewed for Sunday's edition of "60 Minutes" on broadcaster CBS, said he understands and agrees with Netanyahu's insistence that Iran not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons as this would threaten both countries, the world in general, and kick off an arms race.If he believes, as he said, that a Nuclear Iran is a threat to the US as well as Israel, why would Netanyahu's concerns be noise? He should be just as concerned as Bibi, for the US's sake.
But Obama added: "When it comes to our national security decisions -- any pressure that I feel is simply to do what's right for the American people. And I am going to block out -- any noise that's out there."
Tensions have been running high between the United States and Israeli leader, and they will not hold a face-to-face meeting this week at the UN General Assembly in New York. The White House has cited scheduling problems.
Obama's contender for the presidency, Republican Mitt Romney, said this was no way to treat an ally.
The decision not to meet with Netanyahu, he said, also in an interview with "60 minutes", "is a mistake and sends a message throughout the Middle East that somehow we distance ourselves from our friends and I think the exact opposite approach is what's necessary."
Another interesting part of the interview is when the President says Israel is "one of our best friends in the region." I wonder who he considers a better friend?
Understand these aren't Obama gaffes, ever since he took office Obama has treated Israel's concerns as noise to be ignored. I shudder to imagine what he would do in a second administration when he has no need for the votes of Jews an other supporters of Israel.
Obama does have one supporter for his noise statement Iranian President Ahmadinejad. At about the same time Obama was trashing Israeli concerns, the Washington Post’s David Ignatius published an interview with the Iranian madman, who described Israeli concerns with the same "noise" comment as Obama.
IGNATIUS: “I want to ask as my first question the one every citizen of the world would like to ask today: What is the chance of a war in Iran that would result from an Israeli attack on your nuclear facilities?”Is Ahmadinejad a friend of Israel also?
AHMADINEJAD: “I have spoken about this topic at length, previously. We generally speaking do not take very seriously the issue of the Zionists and the possible dangers emanating from them. Of course they would love to find a way for their own salvation by making a lot of noise and to raise stakes in order to save themselves. But I do not believe they will succeed. Iran is also a very well recognized country and her defensive powers are very clear.”

I find it very frightening that Obama & Adolph Jr , both use the term "noise" when referring to Israel. They share talking points?!
