Ultimate Hypocrisy-- Stupid Charlie Rangel Tricks

In what has to be close to the award-winning most hypocritical statement this political season...Charlie Rangel  issued this press release about Romney's 47% Comment.
Charlie Rangel to Romney: Americans Pay Their Fair Share Of Taxes, Unlike You

New York, NY – Congressman Charles B. Rangel issued the following statement in response to Gov. Mitt Romney's remarks saying 47% of the American people do not pay federal income taxes and nearly half of voters are "dependent upon government":

"Nothing can be further from the truth than Gov. Romney's ridiculous remarks that nearly half of American people do not pay federal income taxes, they pay other federal and state taxes. The 47 percent figure cited by the Republican presidential candidate covers only the federal income tax and ignores the fact that people may pay a higher percentage of their income on a wide variety of taxes.

Everyone pays taxes. Lower income persons pay state and local, property, excise and sales taxes.  In fact, when all federal, state, and local taxes are taken into account, the bottom fifth of households pays about 16 percent of their incomes in taxes, on average.  The second-poorest fifth pays about 21 percent.  This is higher than what the Governor has paid in income taxes. He has absolutely no moral authority to accuse nearly half of the American people of being irresponsible and freeloaders.

Many of his millionaire and billionaire friends -- approximately 55,000 -- are paying lower taxes than millions of middle-class Americans. In fact, in 2009, 1,500 millionaires managed to pay no federal income taxes on their millions. Before he judges other people about paying federal income taxes, Gov. Romney should come clean about the tax returns he's hiding from voters."
Charlie Rangel? Taxes?  Let's look at Rangel's tax record
  • He admitted a failure to report $75 thousand in taxes on a vacation property
  • He was discovered taking a tax break for people whose primary residence was in Washington DC, but if his primary residence was in DC he couldn't be congressman representing NYC. And besides, he was occupying four rent controlled controlled apartments in New York, the rule is you don't qualify for rent control unless the apartment is your primary residence. That is why he got in trouble for using one of the apartments as his office.
  • The former House Ways and Means Chair found himself in a new ethics investigation, this time "pay-for-play".  The allegation is that Rangel helped preserve a lucrative tax loophole for an Oil Company, and in turn the Oil Company donated a Million Dollars to the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service. Maybe it was for research on how people in Congress find way to service themselves.
Then there is the matter of his financial disclosure form. Lets just say it had some mistakes also:

Charlie Rangel talking about people's taxes is like the late Ted Kennedy giving a lecture about water rescue---its beyond hypocritical. Of course don't look for the mainstream media to point that out,
