ICE President Says Marco Rubio's A LIAR- Corker/Hoeven Amendment a Disaster

Today the Senate will vote on the 1,200 page Corker/Hoeven Amendment to the "Gang of Eight" immigration bill. This tome of an amendment does little fulfill the promise of protecting the border before amnesty.  It supposedly doubles the number of border agents and completes the border fence voted for/funded by congress during the Bush administration, but there is no guarantee those actions will be taken as the amnesty elements of the bill will take place whether those actions are taken or not AND the massive amendment contains a provision giving homeland security head Janet Napolitano to nix the border protection elements of the amendment.

Even the one of the amendments creator believes the amendment will not do its promised job. On Saturday Senator Bob Corker told Politico:
“I do wish this amendment had some other measures relative to interior security, but I think the House can improve this,” Corker said,  “I think a conference can improve this. So I hope we have the opportunity down the road to see that occur.”
But it is likely that today the Senate will vote and pass this amendment, and it's also likely that most of the senators voting for the Amendment will not have read the 1,200 page monstrosity and will have no idea what is in it (other than what they have been promised).

The Head of the ICE union which executes our border security is not at all pleased with the legislation.

There aren't many Union heads who will bash a bill which has the potential to double the membership of their organization, but yesterday, National ICE Council President Chris Crane issued a statement calling on lawmakers to vote “no” on the Corker/Hoeven Amendment  to the Senate’s immigration reform bill.
Either good faith debate must continue until further amendments can be made to dramatically improve the legislation, or if forced to vote today, on behalf their constituents, Senators must vote no on this 1,200 page substitute bill,” Crane said. “Far from fixing the bill, the Corker-Hoeven Amendment makes it worse. A vote against this bill is not a vote against the immigration reform which we all seek. It’s a vote against bad legislation and the special interests that wrote it; it’s a vote to start this process anew and create reforms that truly fix the nation’s broken immigration system.
Crane also called out  Sen. Marco Rubio for lying to law enforcement on promises of more interior enforcement (he used the more polite misleading). Crane said that Rubio admitted to law  enforcement in private the legislation was flawed but did absolutely nothing to change it.
“Senator Rubio left unchanged legislation that he himself admitted to us in private was detrimentally flawed and must be changed,” Crane said. “Legislation written behind closed doors by handpicked special interest groups which put their political agendas and financial gains before sound and effective law and the welfare and safety of the American public. As a result, the 1,200 page substitute bill before the Senate will provide instant legalization and a path to citizenship to gang members and other dangerous criminal aliens, and handcuff ICE officers from enforcing immigration laws in the future. It provides no means of effectively enforcing visa overstays which account for almost half of the nation’s illegal immigration crisis.”
Gee, Marco talking out of both sides of his mouth? See what happens when you spend all that time with John McCain and Chucky Schumer?
“Abuses by political appointees, who currently pick and choose which laws enacted by Congress will or will not be enforced, will escalate with their increased discretion and authority provided by this bill. This bill avoided every significant problem with our broken immigration system that should have been addressed, and instead became a wish list for special interest groups representing and profiting from illegal immigrants,” he said.

“Regretfully, the months of talking points by the Gang of Eight do not accurately reflect the content of this bill. This bill will not only fail; it will worsen the broken system we now have. It should not be allowed to pass the Senate for the House of Representatives to ‘hopefully’ fix later as Senator Corker has suggested.”
Folks a 1,200 page amendment to a more massive bill means there is a plethora of provisions that are being hidden in this monstrosity. Many of the provisions are just extra pork to get votes such as Schumer's provisions for a few thousand immigrants from Ireland, others are provisions that negate the intentions of the border security enforcement.

Even the Republicans who wrote the amendment being voted on today realize that it does nothing to make our borders safer, it simply adds language to give the GOP senators cover (they believe) to vote yea.

But it should not give any of them cover, those who vote for this flawed monster should be punished with opposition every where they go, even if it means we do not retake the senate-what good is a majority if most of the existing senators do not listen to the people.  Those who are up for reelection should face primaries especially Lindsey Graham one of its biggest defenders.

As for the house which will take on immigration up next, we need to put the pressure on them now as opposed to waiting for the bill to be brought up.
