The rodeo clown who wore a mask of President Obama when performing at the Missouri State Fair has now told his side of the story, fighting against the overreaction to his bit with the Obama Mask. Tuffy Gessling (the rodeo clown) told a Missouri TV station that the bit has been performed by rodeo clowns “for generations,” regardless of who occupies the Oval Office, and that it was meant to be humorous, not hateful (video below).
“I didn’t think anything more of it than what we’ve done fifteen years ago, ten years ago, five years ago . . . when we’ve done it with Bush and Clinton and Ronald Reagan,” the performer, Tuffy Gessling, told a Missouri TV station.
Gessling presents himself as just as non-partisan as he claimed the bit to be. The reporter asked whether he was a Democrat or Republican, Gessling responded, “I am a rodeo clown.”
The clown also insists that race was not a factor, saying, “I never did anything because of anybody’s race. I don’t care what color somebody is. If they’re blue, white, green, polka-dotted, striped, it doesn’t bother me one bit.”
Here's the bottom line, if a bit is done about Bush or Reagan its not offensive, but once you bring Obama into things people scream racism. Truth be told treating this President differently than the others would be racism.
