Rep Peter King: Congressional A-hole

One of the strangest parts of the Ted Cruz-led fight against Obamacare is how Long Island Congressman Peter King has used it for his own, nasty political purposes. King who has hinted at a 2016 Presidential bid (please stop laughing) has been trying to show himself to being a moderate by attacking the Junior Senator from Texas (and not looking very smart doing it)

The Long Island Congressman who voted for the bill to defund Obamacare has been bashing Cruz at every opportunity possibly for stirring up the public on the issue forcing King to take a stand.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) believes Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is a fraud, and he hopes Friday’s house vote defund “Obamacare” and keep the government running will expose the Senator as such. King added that he hopes Cruz will “no longer have any influence in the Republican Party.
Later in that same interview he said Cruz's tactics were:
“ just a form of governmental terrorism.”
Crazy words Right? Its not that crazy for King--he once compared Gerry Adams, leader of Irish terror group Sinn Féin, to George Washington.

Mother Jones said this of Rep. King
Over parts of three decades, from his days as an aspiring politician in Long Island through his early years in Congress, King was one of the nation's most outspoken supporters of the Irish Republican Army and a prolific fundraiser for the Irish Northern Aid Committee (NorAid), allegedly the IRA's American fundraising arm. The IRA waged a paramilitary campaign against the British presence in Northern Ireland for decades before peace accords were signed in 1998. Part of that effort included bombings and shootings that resulted in civilian deaths in England and Northern Ireland. During the period of King's involvement, the US government accused both NorAid and the IRA of links to terrorism.
Perhaps King should avoid accusing others of terrorism.

But the sourpuss from Seaford, Long Island wasn't done. Today he appeared on the Anderson Cooper show and unleashed this divisive nonsense:
Cruz may view himself as a conservative “folk hero” the majority of the country is rallying behind, “those I’ve spoken to think he’s crazy.”

King likened this to the Charge of the Light Brigade and said Cruz is a “kamikaze pilot,” ultimately finding his tactics to be destructive to the Republican party. He continued to call Cruz a fraud and a “medicine man selling goods he knows are phony goods.”
If all the people Rep. King has spoken to think Cruz crazy, then perhaps he should get out more.  What Cruz did was bring the case against Obamacare to the general pubic. His pseudo-filibuster was covered by liberal and conservative-skewing press, and he rallied the base of the party.

What King did was look foolish, a Presidential wanna-be trying to be as publicly divisive as the President he is looking to replace.  The jury is still out on whether Ted Cruz's strategy was the correct thing for the party long term, but one can be100% sure Cruz's strategy beats the heck out of Peter King's divisive politics.
