Over the past two days the media has been dominated by the scandal in Chris Christie's office, and one phrase heard over and over is "Christie has set a culture of bullying and retribution in his office which caused the scandal."
What was disingenuous regarding this argument is the same statement has never been made about Barack Obama. Christie may have earned the label of being a bully, but our thin-skinned President has turned it into an art form.
Remember the firing of Gerald Walpin because he made the mistake of investigating a friend of Michelle Obamas? How he attacked a Cambridge policeman, said he "acted stupidly?' Do you remember how his administration created a "war on Fox News" because they didn't fall in line with his agenda, how the White House tried to exclude Fox from an interview with pay czar Kenneth Feinberg and the "press pool?"
How about the time President Obama walked out of a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, leaving him in a White House conference room while he had dinner, or cancer patient Bill Elliott's IRS audit (and that of is layer) the notice for which just so happened to come soon after he was interviewed on Fox News' The Kelly File and described how his health insurance was being canceled due to the new Obamacare regulations.
Those are a just a few examples off the top of my head--- and I didn't even get to the almost year-old IRS Scandal where Tea Party groups were targeted, Greg Hicks the number two guy in Libya who was demoted because he told the truth about Benghazi or even the nastiness of Obama's 2012 campaign.
Yes its true in public Chris Christie can be abrasive and say exactly what is on his mind, and there are stories of political retribution. But it's high time for the mainstream media to report the truth that when it comes to creating a culture of bullying and retribution the New Jersey Governor is an amateur compared to the Commander-in-Chief.
