Harold Ramis: Rest in Peace

Harold Ramis as Dr. Egon Spengler: "Let's say this twinkie represents all of the psycho kenetic energy in the New York area. According to this morning's sample it will be a twinkie, 35 feet long and weighing approximately 600 pounds."
When news of Harold Ramis' death began to spread people began to leave flowers in front of the NYC Fire House which was used as the Ghostbusters office in the famous movie. One fan didn't leave flowers--but a Twinkie, in recognition of his famous line from "Ghostbusters."

I "loved" Harold Ramis---he made me laugh. But his reputation in Hollywood was that he was simply a very nice person, generous with his time and help toward other people.

A triple threat, writer, director, and actor, his fingers were on some of the greatest comedies in my lifetime; "SCTV" on TV, Animal House, "Stripes," "Ghostbusters," "Groundhog Day" and "Analyze This, "Caddyshack," "National Lampoon's Vacation," and so many more it's time to remember.

You probably have read, or will read plenty of obituaries written about Ramis and I will not attempt to duplicate their efforts.  I will post my very favorite scene from his movies (video below).

Dr Ray Stantz (Harold Ramis): Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.

Walter Peck (William Atherton): They caused an explosion!

Mayor (David Margulies): Is this true?

Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray): Yes it's true. [pause]This man has no dick.

Walter Peck: Jeez! [Charges at Venkman]

Mayor: Break it up! Hey, break this up! Break it up!

Walter Peck: All right, all right, all right!

Dr. Peter Venkman: Well, that's what I heard!
Thank you Harold Ramis, you provided the world with something it needed (and still needs) very desperately, laughter.

May you Rest in Peace, and may God comfort your loved ones, friends, and everyone else who mourns your loss.
