Three Israeli Jews Charged With Murder of Muslim Boy (Plan to Plead Insanity)

One big difference between the Israelis and Palestinians is that Israel arrests murderers and puts them on trial. Once they are convicted they stay in prison.  The three primary suspect in the horrible murder of 16-year-old Arab boy Muhammad Abu Khdeir were officially charged with murder in an Israeli court. Additional details regarding the case were released including the fact that the three have already confessed to the crime.

The three suspects, one aged 30, reportedly from the West Bank settlement of Adam – the two others are reportedly minors from Jerusalem — confessed to the brutal crime of kidnapping Abu Khdeir, 16, off the street in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, early on July 2, beating him and setting him on fire, apparently while he was still alive.

They said that Abu Khdeir’s killing was revenge for the killing of Israeli teenagers Eyal Yifrach, 19, Gil-ad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Fraenkel, 16, last month, the Shin Bet said in a statement.

The suspects’ testimonies also revealed that the alleged crime was premeditated, and that they obtained supplies — including handcuffs and gasoline — in advance.

The investigation found that Abu Khdeir was chosen at random, and had no previous relationship with his alleged killers.
The court also revealed that the day before the murder two of the suspects discussed killing an Arab boy and unsuccessfully attempted to kidnap a different child in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina that night.

According to the court the 30-year-old tried to kill his own infant daughter a few weeks before the murder of the main of Abu Khdeir.
Court documents showed that the suspect confessed to trying to strangle the girl and was only prevented from achieving his aim when his wife walked in on him during the attempt, he said in a confession to police at the time.

The confession was part of a successful temporary insanity plea.

The suspect is also apparently pursuing a defense strategy centered on an insanity plea in the Abu Khdeir killing.
The two youths involved in the killing were described as living on the fringe of society, another ploy for an insanity plea. These three may be sick, but they are not legally insane.

If the legal definition of insanity in Israel is the same as in the United States (the defendant is so crazy he can't understand the difference between right and wrong) the insanity defense will not work as the prosecution has evidence the three charged so far spent the days between the murder and their arrest trying to hide evidence of the crime....proof they knew what they did was wrong.

In related news, the PA hasn't lifted a finger to help capture the suspects who murdered the three Israeli boys.
