Reince Priebus on Rep. Mo Brooks War on Whites: That's a 'Pretty Idiotic Thing To Say'

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus appeared on Real Clear Politics' short interview segment "Changing Lanes" Thursday and was aked about representative Rep. Mo Brooks recent statement about a "War on Whites." His reaction was that Brooks' statement was a pretty idiotic thing to say.

Responding to a statement the National Journal's Ron Fournier said on Fox News about the GOP's need to expand its voting base. Rep Brooks told  Laura Ingraham on Monday: 

This is a part of the war on whites that's being launched by the Democratic Party. And the way in which they're launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else. It's a part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things. Well that's not true. OK? 

Once word got out one could hear the groans coming from RNC headquarters and the cheers from the DNC.

On Thursday Priebus had his chance to respond. When the RNC Chair was asked if he agreed “there is a war on whites out there.” He did not hesitate and called Brooks’ claim a “pretty idiotic thing to say.”

He went on to, for all intents agree with Ron Fournier, saying:

At the end of the day, we have to be a party that grows, and that means we have to have more people in our party, not less.

 Priebus went on to explain what he has the party chairman has to do when someone from his party says something unhelpful (OK stupid).

Talking about the need to expand the base Priebus explained the GOP's outreach program and that he feels the Romney campaign could have done more minority outreach.

The RNC Chair's outreach program seams solid, but perhaps as backup he can place some duct tape over certain congressional mouths.
