How One Doctor's Fraudulent Claim About The MMR Vaccine Caused The Latest Measles Outbreak

One sick child in Disneyland may cause an epidemic of a killer virus. The hysteria around the MMR vaccine has caused many kids not to be protected from Measles, one of them went to Disneyland and infected others at the same park.  And while there is not an epidemic of measles yet authorities have confirmed at least 109 cases by January 31st, 91 of which are in California, according to a Friday update from the California Department of Public Health. That's up from 78 cases reported on Jan. 23. And while Measles is much more contagious than Ebola and there are many more cases of the disease being transferred in the U.S., and the media is very silent about the truth about the disease.

The Link between Autism and the Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccine (MMR) is the medical version of the "birther" or "truther" story.  The original study which made the has never been able to be duplicated, the original paper was withdrawn as false by the medical journal which originally published it, yet for the people who believe it true there is probably not enough evidence in the world to convince them the original study was bogus. And while the study's believers (such as "actress" Jenny McCarthy) continue to try and convince parents not to vaccinate their kids, unnecessary cases of Measles and Mumps in the United States continue to rise as do needless deaths from these childhood diseases.

In January 2011 the case linking the MMR vaccine to Autism was destroyed. In an article called, "Wakefield’s article linking MMR vaccine and autism was fraudulent" The British Medical Journal published the result of an independent investigation revealing that the British doctor who authored the study, Andrew Wakefield, was guilty of an "elaborate fraud" by faking data in his studies linking vaccines with autism.

Wakefield's study and his claim that the MMR vaccine might cause autism led to a decline in vaccination rates in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland and a corresponding rise in measles and mumps, resulting in serious illness and deaths, and his continued warnings against the vaccine have contributed to a climate of distrust of all vaccines and the reemergence of other previously controlled diseases.

But according to an editorial in the same Medical Journal mentioned above,  it was not possible that Wakefield made a mistake -- he must have faked the data. To back up their claim they presented evidence generated by an investigative journalist who generated a series of articles based on examining the same medical records that Wakefield did.
In a series of articles starting this week, and seven years after first looking into the MMR scare, journalist Brian Deer now shows the extent of Wakefield’s fraud and how it was perpetrated (doi:10.1136/bmj.c5347). Drawing on interviews, documents, and data made public at the GMC hearings, Deer shows how Wakefield altered numerous facts about the patients’ medical histories in order to support his claim to have identified a new syndrome; how his institution, the Royal Free Hospital and Medical School in London, supported him as he sought to exploit the ensuing MMR scare for financial gain; and how key players failed to investigate thoroughly in the public interest when Deer first raised his concerns.

Deer published his first investigation into Wakefield’s paper in 2004. This uncovered the possibility of research fraud, unethical treatment of children, and Wakefield’s conflict of interest through his involvement with a lawsuit against manufacturers of the MMR vaccine. Building on these findings, the GMC launched its own proceedings that focused on whether the research was ethical. But while the disciplinary panel was examining the children’s medical records in public, Deer compared them with what was published in the Lancet. His focus was now on whether the research was true.

Who perpetrated this fraud? There is no doubt that it was Wakefield. Is it possible that he was wrong, but not dishonest: that he was so incompetent that he was unable to fairly describe the project, or to report even one of the 12 children’s cases accurately? No. A great deal of thought and effort must have gone into drafting the paper to achieve the results he wanted: the discrepancies all led in one direction; misreporting was gross.
In May 2010 after a seven month investigation, the General Medical Council, which regulates all of Great Britain's doctors ruled
Dr Wakefield had a clear and compelling duty to ensure that the factual information contained in the paper was true and accurate and he failed in this duty....Dr Wakefield’s continued lack of insight as to his misconduct serve only to satisfy the Panel that suspension is not sufficient and that his actions are incompatible with his continued registration as a medical practitioner.
Accordingly the Panel has determined that Dr Wakefield’s name should be erased from the medical register. The Panel concluded that it is the only sanction that is appropriate to protect patients and is in the wider public interest, including the maintenance of public trust and confidence in the profession and is proportionate to the serious and wide-ranging findings made against him.
Now that the evidence that Wakefield did not make mistakes but committed fraud has been revealed, one more investigation of the doctor's study should be made.  This time, the investigation should be made by a criminal prosecutor because if this evidence of fraud holds true, Dr. Wakefield is the cause of hundreds of needless childhood illnesses and dozens of deaths, and four years later is responsible for this latest outbreak begun at the "happiest place on Earth."

Didn't this guy leave England out of fear of prosecution and now lives in the United States?

How illegal immigration ensures that there will always be plenty of diseases to go around in this nation...

Social messaging... it was the hot for this SB. What in the hell was NW thinking? I know 3 families who've lost kids to accidents/illness. I cannot imagine the pain, but I know they've said it's a day by day thing. They never get over it. To imagine enjoying the SB... maybe at a party... and you get a "message" ad to enjoy the rest of the game. Marketing FAIL.

I've read too many respectable journals and articles clearly indicating that today's vaccines are toxic with mercury and the marrow of animal bones and are also ineffective. The fact that a vaccinated child does not get measles when exposed does not mean the vaccine worked. If the vaccine was deemed and admitted ineffective by the CDC, then the child escaped becoming infected by some other means, such as a strong immune system. The vaccines our government wants to force into our children's bodies have been found to actually harm the immune system. There are medical professionals saying that booster shots are needed. if the vaccine were safe and effective, it would bring on a mild case of measles, non-threatening, to cause the body to make antibodies against measles. These antibodies remain in us for life and we should not need a booster. These medical 'experts' are shilling for the vaccine makers who would like to make more money by selling the vaccine twice and would only seem to be a good idea if the first vaccination was ineffective - which it is admitted to by the CDC! It's deliberate and deceptive. Further, many cases of the disneyland outbreak occurred in children who were vaccinated. Now, how do you explain that? Well, i'll tell you - the vaccine was ineffective. In fact, it's only been since obama stated he wanted to force immunizations on our kids that medical "experts" are now talking about its safety. Could it be they don't want to lose their funding? It has already been documented that several mexican children came in with measles, held together for awhile, then sent around the country, without being immunized. If you put together all the pieces of the puzzle, you will see a completely different picture and it ain't pretty. Don't forget the premise that everything, and i mean everything, is about money. Check out the whistleblowers, before they all disappear as some have. Consider this, when the vaccines were safe and effective, almost everybody vaccinated their children. Why don't so many parents want to immunize their children with today's vaccines? Because mother knows best. Mothers read and tallk to other mothers about the serious negative effects the vaccine has had on their children. This issue isn't over yet until the white house wins the propaganda war.

PS: some of these so called measles outbreaks were more severe than ever before and could be that the child did not have measles but was suffering from the effects of a toxic vaccine. Some 'experts' have already admitted that the symptoms indicated a toxicity not found in measles.
