Obama's Iran Deal May Throw Middle East Into Regional War

The United States and the other P5+1 negotiators hurdle toward a deal with the Iranians which will do little beyond allowing Tehran to hide their weapons program but this time with the support of the western world. As that is happening the Middle East is inching closer to war as Egypt and Saudi Arabia are looking to purchase nuclear weapons, and Israel is reminded once again that it cannot rely on any other nation but itself for its protection. This time however, the Jewish State may receive some tacit help from some of its Arab "enemies."

As talk continues of an imminent deal between Iran and world powers, along with the American concession which may  see Tehran receive all of its demands, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is saying Israel will not not bound by the deal.

Speaking to the a meeting of the Likud faction in Knesset Monday the Israeli Prime Minister made it clear that Israel will not allow Iran to go nuclear deal or no deal:

"Even over the weekend, as Iran continued to receive more and more concessions at the negotiating table, Iranian President Rouhani led a march of hatred in the streets of Tehran in which the masses cried, 'Death to America! Death to Israel!'." If the concessions continued even after these unequivocal calls for the destruction of those conducting the negotiations, it seems that there are those who are ready to make an agreement at any price – and this bad agreement is unavoidable.

He went on to answer criticism from Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid and opposition leader Isaac Herzog, who said that the prime minister had failed to uphold his campaign promise to prevent a deal with Iran.

In any case, we never committed ourselves to preventing an agreement, certainly not one that the major powers are ready to sign at any price. We did commit ourselves to prevent Iran from arming itself with nuclear weapons – and indeed, were it not for our efforts over the years, Iran would already be able to develop atomic bombs.

Our commitment is to prevent Iran from arming itself with nuclear weapons and it is valid today more than ever. I call on all those who care about Israel's security to unite behind this commitment."

Defense Minister Moshe  Ya'alon said Sunday that "the West may sign a bad agreement that is full of unprecedented concessions with a blood-soaked, ruthless regime that spreads terrorism throughout the world and undermines the very foundations of the free world. It would be a
historic mistake."

As the Obama Administration  offenders Iran everything short of their first-born-grandchildren to seal Obama's foreign policy legacy, they are ignoring those unintended consequences.  One of which may be an Israeli-Iranian war. Israel may not get the support of an Obama-led United States but they may get at least tacit approval from the Saudi kingdom and Egypt. According the liberal Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz (which opposes Netanyahu):

But there is a change in the wind as far as the Arab world is concerned. For some Arab rulers greater enemies than Israel have appeared in recent years. Iran, reaching out for nuclear weapons, Al-Qaida, the Islamic State (also known as ISIS and ISIL), Hamas, and assorted Arab terrorist groups, are aiming for the jugular of the ruling classes in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. They are a mortal danger to them, the kind of danger that Israel never constituted. Averting this danger is far more important to them than backing the Palestinian cause. From this new perspective, in the eyes of these Arab rulers Israel is beginning to look not like an enemy, but rather like a potential ally.

An Iranian nuclear bomb scares the wits out of them. They see little future for themselves in a Middle East dominated by an Iran with nuclear weapons in its arsenal. Most threatened is the Saudi ruling class who are likely to be the first in line to be toppled as Iranian influence grows. They surely must have quietly applauded Benjamin Netanyahu as he appeared in front of both Houses of the U.S. Congress in March to make the case against a nuclear armed Iran. The Israeli opposition may have criticized him, but the Saudis were surely on his side.

From its early days in 1929 when Arabs were allowed to massacre the Jews of Hebron while the British watched,  Jews living in the holy land learned that they cannot trust anyone but themselves for protection. Thanks to the failure of the Obama administration, Israel may have to protect herself once again, this time with the support of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.
