Congressman Nadler Still Shows ACORN Some Loving

This past March, Heather Heidelbaugh, a Pennsylvania Attorney, testified before Congressman Jerrold Nadler's  Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties subcommittee about the fraud perpetuated by ACORN. Her testimony alleged violations of the election code, fraud and misrepresentation, and violations of equal protection and due process. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) was shocked at the testimony and called for a probe of the Democrat's favorite tax fraud group but Nadler's response was to stonewall. Actually what he said is that he would investigate ACORN once he saw some evidence show that a probe was warranted.

When the Congress voted to cut off funds to ACORN not only did Congressman Nadler vote against the resolution, but make speeches against cutting off the funds saying the congressional action a “bill of attainder,” or an unfair, punitive act by Congress.

"Last week, to the great shame of this House," Nadler said from the floor on September 25, "we passed a Bill of Attainder." Whatever infractions Acorn may be guilty of, Nadler said, "it ought to be vetted or sanctioned by the appropriate administrative agency or by the judiciary. But Congress must not be in the business of punishing individual organizations or people without trial.

This morning in Nadler's committee,  Rep. Steve King (R-IA) brought up the issue of the need for a full congressional investigation of ACORN. King Reminded Nadler that he said he would consider an investigation as soon as he saw credible evidence of ACORN wrongdoing. Nadler of course stonewalled (See Video below H/T Big Government)

Notice that Nadler said the matter is solely an issue for local, state and federal law enforcement. But back in 2003 when the Bush administration was going to review the EPA's response at the World Trade Center data review of the EPA's response at the World Trade Center, Nadler felt a little different about congressional "meddling:"

"The Democratic Leadership of the House of Representatives nevertheless continues to call for a congressional investigation because the power of the subpoena is important to get to the bottom of many of these questions.

Apparently Jabba the Congressman doesn't believe in "what's good for the goose...
