It is surprising that Iran does not want to meant with Senator "Why the long face?" Kerry. Since is negotiating strategy is to retreat they would be able to score plenty of propaganda points with the Massachusetts Democrat."Members of the Iranian parliament's Foreign Relations Committee (a subcommittee of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission) voiced opposition to the request after studying the issue," Head of the Committee Hassan Ebrahimi told FNA.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast last week confirmed reports that John Kerry has filed a request for visiting Tehran.
"Since it (the request) is for a parliamentary visit, the issue has been referred to the parliament. The legislative officials are studying the case and they are in charge for providing a response," Mehman-Parast said at a weekly press conference here in Tehran on Tuesday.
Earlier, the US daily Wall Street Journal had reported that the Massachusetts Democrat is considering an emissary trip to Iran.
...Last Tuesday Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani advised Senator Kerry to end the United States' hostile policies towards the Islamic Republic, particularly regarding the nuclear issue, instead of paying a visit to the country.
When it comes to the war on terrorism, Kerry has been wrong at every step along the road. Well except for maybe the time he voted for funding the troops after he voted against it. When Kerry is on the road to fight terror he is usually traveling in reverse.
Part of the problem is that Kerry tends to look at terrorism as a crime rather than an act of war. In a 2004 appearance on Fox news, Kerry quoted what he wrote in the book The New War: He said, "In that book, I wrote about how we needed to strengthen our ability to be able to fight international criminal crime, including terror." In another selection of the book, which he did not cite on Fox, the senator claimed, "The damage done by international crime is rarely as specific and dramatic as that of a terrorist attack, but in fact it is greater." Thus when he said in his book that Yassir Arafat was a role model for other terrorists, (because he has made a transformation from outlaw to statesman) it was in the context of jurisprudence, prisoners being able to be rehabilitated.
In October, Kerry returned from Afghan with the astonishing claim that General McChrystal "reaching too far, too fast," almost as if he felt that Afghanistan was a crime scene that need to be slowly combed for clues. Kerry forgets the General was sent over to the war zone to come up with a winning strategy. Now that McChrystal made his recommendation Kerry is looking for a way to cut and run. Sorry Senator, there is a reason why McCrystal has a chest filled with medals and you threw your one medal away, he knows what he is doing.
Perhaps the Iranians are not letting Kerry come visit because they are afraid that we will not let him back into the United States (DRATS !! I wonder who leaked that). Maybe we can get him to reach out to Hezbollah, or Hamas. PLEASE, Won't Somebody Take Him?
