You ever notice that President Obama finds a way to blame others every time he screws up or makes a controversial decision? Like during the campaign he threw his grandma under the bus, or when his economic adviser went to Canada to reassure the government that the Senator's bravado about NAFTA was just for effect, Obama said the campaign worker was operating on his own.
After his election the Obama blame-game continued. All the problems with the world could be blamed on President Bush, Rush Limbaugh,The Republican Party, Chrysler's evil investors, Wall Street, The Insurance Lobby, Fox News, Israel's Settlements in Jerusalem, The Government of Honduras, The Tea Party Movement and on and on...
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the terrorist who tried to blow up Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit on Christmas Day is part of a growing cell of terrorists executing their missions from Yemen. It appears that Umar and the Fort Hood terrorist Major Hasan were both mentored by radical Muslim Cleric Anwar Al-'Awlaki. There are reports of other terrorists being associated with this cabal of Islamic zealots.
American's see the growing threat and believe that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, should be subject to any interrogation methods necessary to extract information and protect US citizens, be it water boarding or something worse like the Barney theme song 24 hours a day.
After the Underwear Bomber was sent to a civilian court to await trial, mpeople began to question whether he should have been processed in a military court, so information could be extracted from him.
Top Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan was on Fox today and blamed the Justice for the decision to handle the case of Detroit terror bomb suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in the criminal justice system.
Brennan was asked why the Obama administration did not choose to treat Abdulmutallab as an enemy combatant. "He was arrested on U.S. soil," Brennan answered. "The Department of Justice makes that determination about what is the best tool to use."
Pressed about reports Abdulmutallab stopped talking to investigators after he was given a lawyer and read his Miranda rights, Brennan said, "We have an array of tools that we will use" in the case. "[Abdulmutallab] was in fact talking to people who were detaining him…Just because somebody is going to be put into the criminal legal process doesn't mean we don't have other opportunities to get information from him."I believe this is where my mother would say, "If the Bush Administration Jumped off the Empire State building would you?"
Brennan conceded that Abdulmutallab "doesn't have to" give any information to FBI interrogators. But he said the administration still has some leverage over him. "He knows that there are certain things that are on the table, and if he wants to engage with us in a productive manner, there are ways that he can do that," Brennan said. He did not elaborate on what those things "on the table" are, although he appeared to be suggesting that Abdulmutallab could cooperate in return for more lenient treatment than he would otherwiest receive.
Brennan pointed out that there were a number of terrorism suspects captured during the Bush administration -- Richard Reid, Zacarias Moussaoui, Jose Padilla -- who were tried in the criminal justice system.
Brennan also said the Obama administration will continue to send Guantanamo detainees to Yemen. "Absolutely," he said. "We're going to be working closely with the Yemeni government." Brennan added: "Guantanamo must be closed…It has served as a propaganda tool for al Qaeda."
It has also served as a secure prison, where terrorists received enhanced interrorgation techniques, and spilled their guts about al Qaeda operations saving hundreds of thousands of lives.
When Brennan (or other senior Administration personnel), goes on Fox or any other show, he is prepped by the communications and political people on the stances to take on key issues. Brennan's saying it was a justice department decision was certainly approved by others. Even so, last time I checked the Attorney General reported to the POTUS. A major decision, with political implications such as like where to try the Underwear Bomber had to be reviewed by the President. But the POTUS decided to let someone else take the rap.
A good leader takes responsiblity for the actions of his administration. That's why Truman had the sign on his desk that said "The Buck Starts Here." A fraudulent leader like our President, blames others.
